Thread: A market for used Tier 1 ships racing

Just an idea, but now that starter ships are upgradable there must be loads of Tier 1 deeds being destroyed because you can't even give them away when move up the skill tree.


Many players talk about JTL needing more content beyond 'shoot n loot', why not create a few 'tracks' in space for players to race around (like pylon racing at Reno). If SWs could create special lightweight 'racing' engines and reactors (no armour but light,responsive and fast) the most logical chassis to use would be the Tier 1 / 2 ships stripped of weapons etc.


This gives pilots and SW's another dimension to play, as well as reasons to source parts and build the fastest, loudest 'uber racer' alongside your MP ship and heavy fighter. Racing is also a multiplayer event, even for those watching from sorosub yachtsaround the circuit.


In a Star Wars context, I'm sure this kind of thing would be happening somewhere given the popularity of thepod races.........................

That's a great idea, one I would not be surprised to see inplemented eventually.

ah like 1point armor and hit points and very low mass on engines and reactors and so on. That way they are used just for raceing is a great idea. I loved my first scyth ship style2 i keep it around because i like it so much if the mass was higher and stuff i would still use it lol. The alt use for racing would be great. I am a racer at the heart of it.

one thing i suggested early on was tiered pvp areas. hit a station in a tie / ld and you can go into the tier 1 battleground. i would say ship level is the only restraint, but you could use component level also.

anyway, this would give us a nice place to pvp in low power ships. how about bombers only. y wing vs tie bombers vs whatever the privateer bomber is. stuff like that would be great. and it should have stats

i like the racing idea also. 5* for you

i'm going to go find myself the best reactor and engine, throw them on a ship with only a shield to protect me and start practicing, maybe i can come up with a few ideas...

True, but mass also factor into acceleration, which means you can beat a ship that is the same speed by simply having more acceleration than they do . GREAT IDEA!!

Minimum mass will be very important, as mass is still a factor in space. If we have racing ships that also double as combat tanks it will become meaningless - You either choose to build a ferrari or an M1 Abrams.


If we had engines and boosters that looked and sounded different to the 'combat' versions, and maybe racing texture kits then a whole new class of ship would emerge.


We have lots of variety to make up a grid:


Z95, Y wing, Tie, Tie Int, Scyk (2 styles), Dunelizard (2 styles), Kihraxz (8 styles) = 16 styles of light ship.

Nice idea but flawed since the Tier 1 ships are not the fastest. Best ships for racing are TIE Interceptor or Advanced, A-Wing and one of the neutral ships I forgot because of the weird name.


We did a race on Gorath last weekend. Overt, without weapons, armor and shields in Kessel. It was fun. You should try it out.
