help in Naritus galaxy......

hey, i did all the quests solo up to the corvette which kicks my ass. i got a group of 5 or so and we went after it but only 3 of us made it until we actually disabled the ship. we were doing fine until tier 5 gunships came out and once 1 or 2 more came we were toast. if anyone in the naritus galaxy is willing to help me do this it would be greatly appreciated. my ingame is Greasy Mullet send me an email saying what u are in pilot and such. thanks in advance.

P.S. if anyone has any good tactics for doing this i think i might be able to win with my current group.

Do it solo like this:

It took me several attempts to get through this despite all the advice I had read on the forum. I believe I now have a foolproof way disable this little baby and either not have the gunboats spawn or to leave the corvette with little enough time before it hypers that they are not a problem.

Firstly you need to be capable of taking on a couple of tier 5 fighters and a handful of lower tier ships (think it is 6 in total).

Make sure you are not overt (in space) and that you have a waypoint created to the Rebel station and that it is active.

Also, unless you are a confident pilot you will find the following droid commands extremely useful:

Engine Overload 3

Weapon Overload 3

Reactor Overload 3

Capacitor Overload 3

Capacitor to Shield Shunt 3 or 4

These commands will damage your systems, but little enough that there is no permanent damage to your components providing you remember to repair before you land!!

Now for the tactics I used...

First off get to the vette and engage the fighter escort - make certain that no stray shots hit the vette and it will stay neutral and not attack you until you are ready.

Destroy the fighter escort - you can take your time over this as you will want to wait a while before engaging the vette.

Once the fighter escort is destroyed target the vette and fly in behind the engines. Cycle targets until Shield 100% shows in red. DO NOT FIRE ON IT YET!

You should be able to see the waypoint you created at the rebel outpost on your screen showing your current distance from it. It is important not to begin the attack until you are about 8800m from the waypoint. The reason for this is that the vette makes a couple of turns towards the rebel station during its flight, the final onebeing about 8800m out. If you have aggro'd the vette before this it is very difficult to keep yourself out of the line of fire whilst the vette turns as your ship will handle like a brick at the speedyou are flying- it resulted in me dying 3 times!! (Obviously if you are a seasoned space vette you may be better at keeping out of the firing arc of the guns).

Ok, so now you're 8800m away from the Rebel space station and positioned directly behind the vettes engines with the primary shield targetted. The engine looks something like this:

OOO O

OO O

O OOO

You need to position your self here (where you are the x):

OOO O

OO O x

O OOO

So that you are facing towards the front of the vette inside a little 'valley' looking directly at the target indicator for the primary shield. Between you and the shield is a big gun - don't target it but fire at it anyway (it should blow up pretty quickly). This will leave your firing path to the primary shield generator relatively clear, however, you will still not be able to hit it from your current position. What you need to is increase speed slightly (very slightly!) and point your nose up a little so you move a little bit away from the vette (I'm only talking about a few meters). If you move to far away the guns will start to hit you. In either case, drop your speed back a notch again and point your nose down and fire - you should see the shield % in red start to drop. Repeat this manuever until it is destroyed.

Always make sure you do not move to far away from the vette and always return to your starting position (in the 'valley'before trying again or things can start to get hairy ).

Once the primary shield is gone duck back down so you are in the 'valley' then cut power to your engines so the vette moves past you. Once you are behind the engines again, roll your ship over and repeat this preocedure on the other side (after the primary shield is gone it should auto target the secondary shield - if not cycle targets till you find it). I found on the side with the secondary shield the guns were able to hit me a little more easily so just be a bit more careful about how far you move from the vette - try and keep it so that you are never fully out of the 'valley' I keep talking about.

Once the secondary shield is gone, cut power to the engines again and wait for the vette to pass you. Move back into position directly behind the engines and target them remembering to /matchspeed.

Check the distance to the Rebel outpost (have a look at the waypoint you created earlier). If you are between 5000 and 6000m away open fire on the engines immediately, if you are still over 7000m you may want to wait a bit (I opened fire at about 6500m and had 3 gunboats spawn but more on that later ). Apparently if you disable around 5000m then the gunboats don't spawn, don't leave it too long though or the vette will hyper out of the area, misison failed.

Once the vette's engines are disabled cut your engines. You need to wait for the rebel engineers to take over the vette before it stops aggroing you - so stay put in the blind spot behind the engines until the vette turns yellow on your radar.

That's the difficult bit done! All you have to do now is face down 2 or 3 waves of fighters (similar to the escort when you first got to the vette but only 3 or 4 ships at a time).

If you're lucky no gunboats will spawn so all that remains is to talk to the rebel outpost for your reward.

If the gunboats do spawn - be careful not to hit them! They will automatically go for the vette unless you start shooting them. Some people have reported the vette getting destroyed by the gunboats but it was never in danger during my attempt and providing you left it as long as possible to disable the vette your mission should complete anyway before the vette is destroyed.

Now, a final word of warning - after the vette had hypered out of the area the three gunboats turned their attention to me which resulted in a very quick trip back to Kashyyyk station and another hefty repair bill. When I went back they were still there, lurking about around the outpost and aggroed me the second I was in range.

I eventually managed to draw them far enough away from the station that I was able to /comm and get my reward but it was pretty tough going for a while!

Tactic 1(aka cheap and lazy): Get mission, go to corvette, kill fighters, DO NOT ATTACK VETTE. Just follow it until it hyperspaces out...then make a waypoint. Get mission again, go to corvette, kill fighters, take out gun5, take out shields.....FOLLOW VETTE until you get to just before the waypoint you made, then take out its engines. Wait. Once the rebels take over and it starts to head to the rebel outpost, it will be about 5k away. Kill the fighter waves, once the big wave of tier2s are dealt with.....FALL BACK. Do not engage the gunboats. If done correctly, the mission will suceed before the 2nd wave of 2 gunboats even shows up, and there is no way the single gunboat can kill the vette in under a minute unless you have really really bad luck.

Note: once the mission is successful, the gunboat(s) will still be right by the rebel outpost, so don't go rushing in to collect your reward, chances are once the vette leaves they'll come after you if you are too close Takes them about 5 mintues to despawn if they aren't aggro'd.

Tactic 2(teamwork method): I'll skip the obivous and talk about how you can actually take out those nasty gunboats, or stop them from killing the vette. Since you have a group of 3-5 people, provided that you can all do at least a speed of 855 (the gunboats max speed) without using your booster, you can simply aggro a gunboat and get it to chase you in a big circle around the vette. If you have a couple friends with arc-170s, get a couple gunners and stay 550m ahead of the gunboat, match speed, and watch your gunners fire away with impunity

If no arc-170s are available, it is still possible to take out the gunboats by using the method above, but instead of gunners you have a 2nd ship following the gunboat from the same distance (550) and match speed as well, and fire away. Or, if they have a nice fast ship they can even slip into the blindspot (rebel gunboats have em too right?) and blast away from there.

Tactic 3(the "I have 3 friends that have advanced xwings already and big 2555 shields with 3 huge 3900 reward guns" method): Hehe ok not likely, but now that I have my advanced xwing, I can just do head on passes (while trying to approach from slightly below so only one gun can hit me) and use shield shunt to take a gunboat out, one at a time. If 2 are chasing me and they are close together, well I don't think I'd want to tackle that. When I help people do this mission though I hate leaving gunboats sitting at the station waiting to ambush someone that happens along, so I always aggro them and drag them away to an isolated spot, and kill one or 2 if they are spread out enough

Btw, even with 3 RE'd reward guns, it takes a few passes to knock out the engine :/

Hope this helped, Good luck!

The shields are on the front half of the vette, on the front side of a little v shaped bump in the frame. If you look down from the top of the vette, the space right behind the bridge, facing up, will like like this: <I I> The shields will be on the forward side of those little outcrops. Thus, you have to be strafing into the ship from the front underside to hit them with minimal fire being redirected to you. Or, you could be cheap and attack them with torpedoes, which ignore LOS. Or, better yet, you could do like I did and load up missiles/torpedoes and strafe in from the proper direction and take them out with torps, then come around to the engine from the safe side.

Do not take out the guns if you can help it. The Vette will need to defend itself laterand the more guns it has, the better.

Amickiew, Go find your 'friendly' vette and target the components on that, then fly in close to see where they are exactly

As a neutral I was lucky (I get first strike) so I just flew up to the rebel vette and had a look around before I started

Another trick may be to use missiles... whilst they take time to lock, you can be a little lax in targetting with them

Thanks for the detail on exactly where the shield generators are, that did the trick. I was out flying when you posted, I flew in close & examined the structure on the still neutral ship before engaging it. Went back, took out W6&7, S0&1, and at 4999 took out engines. Worked likea charm - no missiles, no droids, just 4333 & blasters!

ARRGGGHH when I try to generate the new ship, it tells me I do not have the badge necessary to fly that ship.

Upon completing the mission, it said I gota badge. My character window says I have 'Quest: Rebel Heavy X-Wing Starfighter' badge.

I'm 4333 & so am certified. What am I missing?

And how many badges do you have right now?

You need at least five badges to generate your advanced Xwing.

Thank you very much for that bit of guidance. I just started the game this month, & have been flying exclusively. I have a whole 3 badges currently. So obviously you hit my problem right on the head. Where is this sort of information available? I had no idea of this minimum # of badges for this & presumably other things?

This mission is driving me crazy. I can destroy guns 6 & 7 no problem, but I *cannot* get a bead on those shields. I have them targeted, but I don't know what they look like, so I keep maneuvering & aiming & shooting with the crosshairs, occasionally they'll go down 5%, but w/o knowing what I'm aiming at it's just a cluster*(&% & I run outta time every attempt.

Any suggestions on exactly what I'm looking for with regard to the shields?

Yeah - just visit a few POI's on the ground - you need 5 badges in order to generate the ship. You should be able to do it in about 15 mins.

This is what I did...

Stocked up my old Y-Wing "Longprobe".

I fit in two Proton Torpede Launchers with 12 Missiles in each launcher.

I launched into space with some friends, they aggroed the Vette, I targeted the shields and luanched missile after missile and didn't get shot at once. Once the shields were gone, I blasted missiles at the engines and then had everyone move back.

One guy got blasted into space dust. The other two were still with me.

After the Rebels siezed the Vette, we move into an escort position and waited.

As it flew, enemy fighters appeared, we attacked those fighters and so did the Vette, with every single one of its canons intact.

The trip was relatively easy. Even while I was flying my "School Bus" of a Y-Wing.

Pilots forum... Has the info about generating your reward ships and needing 5 badges.

POI's work as your five badges so you don't have to work to hard to get them.
