Thread: JTL killed Coro and Naboo

I've been playing SWG for about a year now, and so i remember what coro was like before JTL came out. Coronet and Theed were the most populated cities on the most populated planets, just like it should be, but ever since JTL has come out, anybody with a ship can fly straight from one planet to any other. Now I've noticed that the Mining and Agro outposts on Dantooine, which used to be sparsley populated, are now the centers of activity for most of the players on many of the SWG servers. I go to coro and naboo for my BH missions, and i cant help but wonder why nobody except other novice bounty hunters use those planets (i understand many guilds still have cities on these planets, but I've seen most of their populations drop) and the coro starport, one of the former places to find anything for anyone, is now completely deserted except for the occaisional afk macro spammer. I believe JTL has made space travel too convienient (along with 60 second wait times for shuttles) and I would like to see hyperspace travel restricted to lanes used by the shuttles pre-JTL, and hope that shuttle times will be increased to how they were before the overly-convenient publish updates.

This forum is for constructive discussion about the gameplay (and gameplay changes) and that does not mean it has to be positive, but it needs to be constructive. -GarVa

There were still lots of folks around them until the CU. After the change in doc buffs no one needs to go stand in line any longer.

On my server it did get a bit quiet for a while but it has picked up and gotten very busy lately. Sure, people are a bit more spread out..but EVERY town I go to now has someone in it. Towns like Coronet, Theed and Mos Eisley are businer than ever.

If we're gonna talk about the way "things used to be" then let's talk about how it was before Theed and Corolag were the only 2 cities people went to regularly. JtL and the Combat Upgrade have made the game a lot more like the real old days than the days of 2 cities, when places like Bestine, Mos Eisley, Tyrena, Dearic, and Kaadara were virtually empty. Now there are people in a lot more places do a lot more different things, and it has a lot more than just JtL travel as the cause. It's a combination of Travel, Buff Changes, Mission changes, GCW changes, and a lot of things that on the whole make the game a lot more varied.

Travel prior to JtL created a lot more bottlenecks and wasted time. While I personally miss being able to entertain people waiting for a shuttle, I don't want to go back to the days when the only times I saw people were in a buff line.

I don't miss the things you miss, and if Merchant shout bots have no one to listen to them, I will be the last person to shed a tear.

I must be odd really... I want to go back to the days with no vehicles, 10 minute shuttle waits and no player cities.

Would be nice to see as many people in Tyrena as I used to. Oh, and it would be nice to explore Tatooine on foot, without the ability to cross the entire planet in a matter of minutes, passing 30 player cities as I do so.

Aaaah, memories...

Nothing is stoppying you from doing so.. I regularly go out hunting with nothing more than a creature mount for a vehicle. A group of people I regularly hunt with also all uses creature pets to get between missions etc.

Considering I can't remove all the player cities... Yes, something stops me from doing so.

I was really glad when they finally fixed the shuttle times to a shorter interval, got really sick of having to wait at each starport to meet with friends somewhere. Once JTL came out I believe they reduced it again, which was another blessing. It's just silly to have to wait forever to travel - it's like the dang boats in Everquest.

I'd have to agree with Psikobunny up there - the CU and loss of doc buffs did more to remove people from Cnet and Theed. Not really any loss, now people are more spread out, and there's still a pretty good sized crowd in both cities. Since I don't have to go around begging to train people any more for apprentice XP, I'd call it a good deal. I HATE listening to spambots.

Rather than force people to follow the old lanes, the only change I would go along with would be to require them to launch and fly to the station, like we have to in order to reach Kashyyyk.

Funny thing is, I have several friends that never knew about the "travel" option until the day I took them for a ride in my Yacht and we went directly from one starport to another without loading in space.. They all asked me how I did that.. Previously they had been launching, selecting a destination and hyperspacing there..

Aside from the change in Doc Buffs and the CU changes and less time waiting for shuttles is the fact that the New Player tutorial now starts ALL new players in Mos Eisley on tatooine.

That's actually a good thing. It is the first planet and first town we see in the movies so it givess the new player some immersion into the game that way. It ha also made teh population around Mos Eisley boom where once it was nothing more than a ghost town.

I disagree that it's a good thing. The fact that players used to have 16 places to choose from meant that often the got dumped in a place where there was no one, but in order to get somewhere with people, they had to figure out a few things on their own, and weren't easy prey for every BARC hungry l33t, wannabe guild leader, or citizen grubbing Politician. I think there needs to be 3 starting cities with the New Player quests, and spread the beginners out again.

I don't really like having them all in Eisley either. Creates way too much lag on a server like Bria. I never go to Theed or Coronet because of it, but Mos Eisley was always tolerable. It's getting to the point where it isn't.

On Ahazi, Mos Eisley is worse than Coronet and Theed combined.
