Thread: Merge freelancer and rebel playable ships?
As far as achieving master pilot goes, you can get it as fast as you want it really. There are folks doing it in a few days, a few weeks, or a month or so. Personally it took me about 5 days, but i had some time available to me to sit and play and wasnt limited to working on it in the evenings after work like most folks.
and now for something completely different:
we should get kill decals on the side of the ships for each corvette and station / star destroyer we kill. maybe even some nose art for the criminal types (reb / priv)

IMO it would make more sense that Rebels and Imperials be able to fly Freelance ships, however it would not make sense for Freelance pilots to fly Rebelion or Imperial ships as those are supposedly issued by those factions.
But to help everyone they should create 6 to 8 more ships to the Freelance line up, that way everyone is happy.
Not a flame but a question.
Then why have the Privateer Pilots skill tree? Just go Imperial or Rebel and have access to the ships you want. This would make the 3rd faction pilot tree kinda useless.
While agree that more ships over time would be great! And your point is a good common-sence one. Ithink we are too far into a 3 types of pilot system to make that a realistic change.

I agree with you and 5 stars, the freelancer content should improve so more smugglers can be like Han Solo and flying Rebel or Imperial ships would not be an issue for them.
However for it to make sense they can't fly military assigned ships (I am a civilian in real life, I cant go around drivingmilitary vehicles)unless some kind of content can be created where freelancers can actualy steel such ships and use them under extreme risks. Now that would be fun, don't you agree?

What I think would be a better option would be to release about5 new ships (4 fighters, 1 multiperson) and make them cross-faction certed. Basically make them truly neutral. To make it interesting though, Rebs and Imps would possibly not be be able to declare in these ships as they would be "private craft" (aka craft not certified to their factions). Sure you could take out Pirates and such in them, but while flying them you would not be able to attack or be attacked by Reb or Imp NPCs in space. Basically the equivilant of the craft a military person would fly when "on leave" or incognito. No one would know your faction affiliation so the two sidesof the war would have no reason to be hostile to you. They could pull the designs for these ships pretty easily from games like X-Wing Alliance so they wouldn't have to design new ones.
