Has anyone found anything interesting about jedi from reverse engineering the client? Does anyone have a copy of the server?

If you have zero knowledge of the things you'retalking about, please don't post gibberish laden with buzzwords you got off tech-TV.

People have found some things in the client, but nothign that will tell you how to open your slot.
No one has a "copy of the server".

One of the things I have seen little information on is Reverse Engineering. I hear about people saying that the best components they have are often from reverse engineering. I understand the basic concepts of what it is, but what's the math and thought behind it.
I see a rating on compenents like (RE 6). My understanding is that this means a couple things.
First being that it means you have to be to lvl 6 in order to RE this component correct?
Second that it requires you to have 6 similar components in order to RE this?
I guess my question is how do you make this skill beneficial and maximize it's potential. I did a couple tests on low level items(RE 1's) but was only getting a 1% increase. What effects the % increase and how do I get much more significant improvements?

Reverse Engineering level 1 equipment is more or less pointless.
Here is the deal:
Let us assume we have 2 RE level 2 components.
One has
Stat A = 100
Stat B = 50
The other has
Stat A = 75
Stat B = 98
then reverse engineering these components will give you a component with the stats
Stat A = 100+2%
Stat B = 98 + 2%
Reverse Engineering takes the best of all stats from all the components and adds a bonus of RE level %.
For reverse engineering RE level 1 components this equals a bonus of 1% on all stats.
Hope this helps.

Ok that makes alot more sense, and helps explain why the items I was making were pretty much pointless to even bother with. I was playing with level 1 stuff becuase I wanted to get a feel for it before I started using better components which could potentially make a very good component. Thanks for the info that clears up the problems I was having understanding the reverse engineering. I searched all over the guides and posts and just saw very limited information on this.

When you get a looted part and you put it in a tool, what then....Im not sure what I am supposed to put with it to RE it...?

Just the part(s).
One for each RE level.
So to reverse engineer a RE level 5 engine, you need to put 5 RE level 5 engines in the tool. I am not sure, whether those might be used components. If you can use components that have decayed partly, you might use REing to recycle those components.

The 6 means that the pilot needs to be certed for level 6 equipment.
Second that it requires you to have 6 similar components in order to RE this?
Yes.

You get 1% for each level of the component. So 6 level 6 components will yield a 6% increase to the combined highest stats.

do you get to pick witch stats to keep? or is it desided automaticly?

What about mass and energy use? Is the lowest stat used for those?
