Thread: Grouping In Space

Does anyone have any good suggestions or recommendations on tactics for grouping in space? The types of questions I have are ...

1. Is there a way for me auto target someone in my group? How about group leader?

2. Is there a follow command just like there is on the ground? (I think this would be useful for being a wingman).

3. What's the best way for me to determine who is attacking someone in my group?

I think that's it for now. Thanks in advance.

Space group interface is the most craptastic thing ever invented, yet believe it or not that's actually the improved version, at improved from what we originally had in beta. When you change sectors/launch into space, you lose the list of people in the group. The mission objectives don't waypoint for group members and half the time the target ships don't "light up" for group mates like they should.

Basically what I'm saying is, it's not you, it's just a crappy interface.

Tier 1 pilots are in instanced space, they dont interact with higher level pilots.

Damn... so that's why I couldn't find my friend in space when he first started.

Odd, I group almost every time I launch, and I've had no problems. I do know that if your 1/1/1/1 (or higher) and you group with a starter pilotyou won't be able to see him. Seems the starter pilots have there own "parallel universe" they launch to.

When flying with a group of pilots is there a command that will allow them to target a teammates target. IE I take point.. I engage one of the 5 enemy ships that split... can they type anything that will allow them to autotarget my target so we can all get xp from the same ship.

I ask this because me and 2 friends like to pound around in space but it is no fun disabling everything just to make sure everyone got a hit in to get credit for the kill. And before the questions arise about powerleveling I am 2222 one friend is 2212 and the other is 2211.

don't think there is, but I have seen it requested of many times on these boards. It would also be REALLY nice for POB's in combat (either for gunners to take the pilots target or for the escorts).

Assist train FTW LOL!

In DAOC they have this and all GOOD groups run a MA (main assist) it is devastating when a full grp work together on targets in RVR a assist train will rip of any grp not running MA. Even the best healers cant keep up with the damage of a assist train lol.

Not sure if SWG ground game has a assist or not as iam IM cl10 and have never grouped yet.

on the ground you can target a group member and you will attack whatever he/she is attacking. I don't know if that works in space too. It'd be cool if it did though.

Nope it doesn't work like that in space... so just have to rely on voice and disabling ships so others can get thier hits in. That tends to work alright but it would be nice to have an assist like command in space still.

If you have never tried it grab some friends and go into space, we are having a blast... literally. It also makes killing stuff 3 tiers higher then you alot easier.
