one question to the devs ^_^

I am a Mon Cal Imperial Col. - will I be able to get the best factional item with my Factional Cap (currently fp capped) or am I up a river without a paddle? This is an important issue for me... right now with my Cost penalty I can barely get into the bases if I wanted to. If I can not get the upper level ships because I don't have the factional allowance. It would appear then that I would have to restart my imperial from scratch.

And I had such a nice RP story going why I was Imperial T_T

I know this expansion stuff is not set in stone yet - but a little hug from you guys would go a long way to calming my fears

That was a sweet update. Cheers matey. I've got a coupla questions thou.
(Soz if they've already been asked!)

1) Will there be Jedi Starfighters, if so. Will these be craftable by Jedi only or Shipwrights?
2) Will ships be able to latch onto debris in space. (IE Hiding in/on an asteroid or on a large ship Han Solo style!)
3) Will the actual cockpits be customizable? I'd like to have new radars etc fitted inside my cockpit and to give it a new layout if I didn't like the orginal ones.......Or is that pushing it a bit too far?
4) Will there be totally unique loot drops (IE an engine that'll never be dropped again, what I mean is will the loot be a totally random drop with totally random specs)
5) And one final question....When's the release date, roughly.

I have seen this question asked a couple times on this thread though it doesn't appear that you understand exactly what the people are asking, so I'll try to clarify:

We would like to know if ships will be profession-specific, e.i. If I am an Imperial Pilot, will I only be able to pilot TIE variants or will I be able to fly Hutt and YT variants as well? Obviously, only Imperials should be able to fly TIE variants, but even the X-wing and Y-wing could logically be available to any player, aligned or otherwise, considering that these ships are available to anyone in the EU (The Alliance salvaged X-wings and Y-wings from junkyards).

So, even if one is a Rebel or Imperial, they can still become a Basic Pilot?

Nah, that's crap. The X-Wing is a better fighter craft than the TIE the Rebels would totally destroy the X-wings if they were beyond repair....That's the reason why the Empire were after them soooooo much because they were better than their best TIE varient

Just have a question. If we are in a guildwar with another guild will we be able to attack them in space?

I think ThunderHeart answered that question,

One question I didn't see listed here but heard at E3is about accounts. Just to clear it up, you don't have to get Jump to Lightspeed to continue playing SWG (though you won't be able to access things such as flying space ships and playingthe new professions if you don't). Each account requires a unique CD key to be enabled for JTL. If you enable JTL for one account but not for another, you'll be able to play both accounts (just one won't be able to go into space). Our future publishes will likely have stuff for the ground game and the space game.

thanks for the info, really clears up a few things, but opens the door on some other ideas hopefully to be answered in the near future.

I very much appreciate all the new content coming into the game via the Hyperspace expansion, being an old hand with the X-Wing and TIE Fighter series of games. And while itching to see what new races are going to be involved, I've already come to terms with the idea that they're likely not going to be the ones I'm hoping for, as the Chiss and Zeltrons are pretty fringe species in terms of recognition. But I can hope, right? Now on to my questions and issues.

1. What concerns me is that while so much new content is being added to the game, so much else is still incomplete and has been since the rollout nearly a year ago. I know a lot of issues are going to be addressed in the combat balance in July for the melee classes. But my own example is that I'm a master dancer, and all the dances I got in the dancer profession besides poplock seem to be incomplete. The highest level dance, the exotic style, basically has three flourishes that have been mocapped and done. The other 5 flourishes for the style are placeholders and default back to incongruous and lesser styles when animating.

Essentially, it'd be as bad (for you combat classes out there that don't do non-combat) as mastering bounty hunter, pulling out your pistol to 'Eye Shot' someone, and seeing your character do the Marksman Special 'Aim' instead. There are likely issues as great and as unaddressed as the dancer's ones. The combat classes have all sorts of specials that don't work as intended or don't work altogether. But Thunderheart's rather omnipresent answer to those is "Wait for the Combat Balance."

I can deal with that. But it's asinine to keep adding new content when the established content isn't finished yet. I understand that the established content is a constantly evolving process, like a child growing from infancy. However, to take the comparison further, this infant is still missing a few of the limbs and abilities it was supposed to be born with in the first place.

My own question is Will the rest of the gaping holes in 'on-the-ground' content existing at rollout be addressed in this major upgrade to the entire game itself? Or are they going to be ignored in favor of introducing new content, and if so, why?

2. A space-related question. Can ships only take off and land at spaceports? While the idea of being able to furnish and decorate your ship is one I'd quite hoped for, the idea doesn't carry much weight if I'm only going to see the insides of my ship in space when I'm not dodging killcrazy pirates, or an imperial or alliance type that thinks I might be smuggling for the enemy.

It would be nice if one could say... unpack your ship from your datapad and use it for a mobile shop or living space. If anything, that would likely be something smugglers and gunsmiths would want to do. The idea of setting up static shops that can be searched out on a map that deal in 'illegal' materials is unrealistic. I know that if I were a smuggler or a slicer or a gunsmith, I'd want to be able to pick up and get out of Dodge pretty quick if the imperials moved into town, or there was a faction shift in the population of a town my house was in. Being able to use a ship as a personal structure would pretty much put that into practice.

3. I also very much agree with the idea that PanzerGR puts forward about valuable content being added for those that want to play along a more neutral and mercenary path. My own character is one of those types that sees no value in the imperials or the alliance, and hopes they wipe one another out so the galaxy can get on with the business of living and surviving. That's not going to be an omnipresent view. And with other characters I play, I may indeed get very faction based. But within the boundaries of maintaining a fastiduous neutral stance in my current character, there isn't really that much, content-wise I can avail myself of. The ongoing war is in the end about The imperials dominating the people, or the alliance liberating the people. But what if you wanted to play one of the people being fought over?

4. Will more skill points be added to the game for people that have mastered a certain amount of professions or become force active? It has been suggested on the pistoleer boards recently that after your account is active a certain amount of time, that skill points be added as both a reward for player longevity, and to reflect the time spent in the galaxy doing or learning new things. One might argue that would be unfair to newer players not there since rollout, but one might also argue it's unfair for veteran and elite players to operate at the same experiencial ceiling as the person that just activated their account yesterday. This would help characters that have been around quite a while to become richer more versatile characters in their own right, opening up possibilities hinted at in the original book that a seasoned bounty hunter might also be a pretty mean Chef in their spare time, which the current amount of points available wouldn't bear out with all a bounty hunter has to spend on.

5. Performance problems should indeed be addressed. As with the memory leak that consumes ever greater portions of your cache and RAM that slows performance over time. Unlike Lucreel, my own machine is operating at 2 gigahertz with 768 megs of DDRAM and a Radeon 9500. Yet performance problems persist.

Thank you for your time and attention.

  • Will we be able to travel in hyper-space within one zone? for instance: I am in Naboo space on the far side of that sector and many enemy ships begin closing in on my location... I should be able to enter hyper-space as an escape tactic...

  • will people with accounts that are not JtLS enabled be able to enter my ship (given I am using a JtLS enabled account)? I would like to be able to transport and show off my ship to my friends that might not be able to buy the expansion......

  • If I am in someone's ship and the owner goes LD what happens?

  • If I am in someone's ship and we all log out then I log back on 30 minutes later but the ship owner is still logged out, what happens?

  • I know you guys have answered this twice or more but for clarification, there are no NPC space stations that will be able to be visited at release?

  • since it is twitch based, how will an advantage for Jedi pilots be implemented? (maybe Jedi can program more advanced abilities in their droid?)

  • will we incur damage and wounds while in our ships? ( I think we should so as to preserve the foundational healing profession's roles )

  • can we own multiple ships (not deeds but datapad entrys) simultaneously?

    • if so, how many?

  • will we be able to board other people's ships from space? (i.e. disable an enemy craft then board it to finish off the occupants - if far from a space station, meet up with friendly craft to pick up reinforcements)

  • will differently factioned players be able to enter each other's ships? ( but maybe not be able to pilot it? )

  • we should be able to see Corascant (sp?) from space, even if we can't go there...

  • will there be any 'pets' for our ships? ( maybe an orbitting sensor drone )

  • will different ships have different item storage capacitys?

  • will ships be able to form 'groups'?

  • will a group of ships be able to fly in formation?

  • will any core game skills augment our abilities in space? ( i.e. a squad leader piloting a ship that is leading a group of ships can use a squad leader skill on the group of ships )

  • will we be able to land and hide on larger space bodies such as asteroids? ( but likely not exit our craft )

  • will we be able to hide in nebulae ( i.e. not have our ship name visible or be TABable from outside the cloud to someone without the equipment to scan inside the nebulae )?

I think that's enough for now, but I have plenty more.

I have one question about the new player races...

While they have not been determined yet, do you plan on making it so existing players can change their races? For example, I play a Zabrak... would I be able to switch to one of the new races or no?

I don't know if this question has been asked yet, but it popped into my mind as I was reading the post.
