That is one heck of a hypothetical question, Javy!

I couldn't give you a definitive answer as it would depend on the answers of my family and friends. There are many thing I have acquired on Bria; homes, money, clothes, membership in agreat PA,various masteries, but all these mean nothing when compared to thevalue of asingle friend. I'm a social bird so where they go so shall I.

This is purely hypothetical.

Let's say a specific server 'Server X', NOT the server you currently play on, was chosen by the entertainer community to plop down and form an actual entertainer based player city. The city would be on one of the three major planets, it would choose the entertainer city bonus, and it would be a paradise of night clubs, shops and fun. The city would institute a 'no-AFKing' and 'no BUFFBOTS' law city-wide. The intent of the city would be to gain a reputation across all the galaxies as a live entertainment mecca.

Would you switch servers to be a part of this?

(why does it always work out that I just can't be specific and concise... haha! Ready for another of Deila's novel-length posts? )

Hypothetically, no. But here's why...

I do admit, the idea of striving for an entertainer's utopia is attractive, butI would be very concerned for the overall future of our professions if the finest entertainers from all galaxies were to converge into one.

Many of us who post here regularly are in one way or another communityleaders throughout many servers... and the primary battle cry is:

Keep the social playstyle alive andwell, and a vital part of the SWG experience.

We care about live entertainers, about stopping the spamming and the AFK, about removing the buffbot - as they are the antithesis of what the entertainer professions were supposed to be. Our presence out in the various galaxies spreads that missive - we are out here to lead by example, and toimpress upon others that these professions are fun to play when other players are around to interract with and have fun together. What would be left in the vaccuum without us on various servers keeping the faith, baby?

Allow me to digress here a moment, and show one case study.

Earlier this week, I and two other LIVE members were in the Theed cantina just after Ahazi came back up from reset, and started "the entertainer group". However, as other entertainers came in looking for that group invitation, we encouraged (ahem.. okay, slightly pressured, if needed) all of our group members to form up in an organized performance, with the band off to the right side of the main floor, and dancers forming up in front. All were cautioned that this was an all ATK group, and that we would be kicking AFKers for new live entertainers as needed. And we left room in the main part of the floor for the audience.

Dancers took turns bandfloing, so that all could share in the XP. The band organized themselves to change up songs periodically, taking care to make sure that everyone could play the same song. We brought in the effects droids. Most of the people in this group had never seen how cool an organized show could be... and they were having a great time chatting away about how to keep the show going. The "big group" at Theed was, for at least 10 hours, 20 entertainers that were all ATK, entertaining patrons and each other, and were so successfully organized in the venue that there was room for a huge crowd to enjoy the show without being in the entertainer's area. The handful of AFKers that were not in the main show looked... weird and out of place.

Patrons were shocked and amazed... most of them had never seen anything like it. The ones that did remember the "good old days" mentioned not only that they had renewed hope for the cantina scene, but that they would start tipping entertainers again even for healing, so long as they really were ATK, and putting on a performance like that. It was a ray of hope that things could get better.

Many of the musicians in the band commented that they had never received tips before this day... and were now sharing out in some monetary appreciation for a show well done.

Yes, there were two buffbots there...each of themoffering bothdance and music buffs. One right at the front door, and another in the first alcove on the main level. I don't know for sure how much business they had. I doknow this... although I never once 'advertised' that I was buffing, but I had buffing clients solidly for the entire durations of two consecutive quickness buffs, one after another after another after another. After two hours, I thought to check the totals from my bank tips alone (adding up the emailed amounts)... and those came to 120k credits. I couldn't keep track of the regular tips.

If even for one day... just one day while we are still with the hologrind and the buffbots... we had retaken the Theed cantina, and made it good again.

Now, that's a whole reporting on justone day's success.... that would never have happenedon Ahazi if we weren't out and visible on as many other servers as we can be.

I love the idea of having us all get together at times for spectacular cross-server events... bringing the dedicated entertainers from all galaxies to one place at one time forthe periodicExtravaganza Spectacular! But... if I did not maintain my regular work on the Ahazi galaxy to try to keep the entertainment professions vital, who would? I am but one dancer in Ahazi, but I am visible... and I'm sure that my presence here is helping.

An extreme example. If everyone who would fight for an ATK fun entertainment environment were to leave their galaxies to come to a safe haven, what would be left but buffbots and AFKers on all of the other galaxies. We would see one server with a vital entertainment community, and most of the rest might well fall to automation. And the cries from all galaxies, save one, that the entertainer professions are nothing but "lazy, spammingAFKers" would be true. Might that not seal the fate of the social playstyle as essentially a failure?

Build a city... a glorious city of entertainment, where the party never stops. Bring them in from the far reaches of the galaxy. But I fear that if we tap out the resources of great entertainers from the other servers to populate the one, the entire playstyle would suffer SWG-wide. I know that I am needed on Ahazi for now, and it is on Ahazi that I will stay to continue to inspire the other entertainers as best I can that we have value, and that the entertainer professions are worthy of playing.

Invite me to a major cross-server entertainer event to tear the roof off the cantina, and if I can make it, I'm there.

I would glady switch over to any galaxy besides Bria,

Entertainers... Marksmen... everybody. I know you like being with people of all the same profession but do we have to all cram ourselfs onto Bria its not a solution. You will probably find alot more AFK dancing and bad people on Bria compare to your old galaxy.

I wouldn't switch servers for it, considering I like my guild and have real life friends on Flurry. I most likely would make a character there to see how it all goes. Personally I think it's too much of a commitment for a lot of people to say outright that they would switch servers.

Also, I would do it on a medium populated server (while you want a decent spot for your city, you also want visitors), and if possible a server which has the least number of participants already on that server. Why? Because people are more willing to lay down their currently hard worked for characters if everyone else is too. It's a totally different feeling if you start up with 20 other entertainers (pick one of the large NPC towns and take it over with 10-20 entertainers AT THE KEYBOARD every day! What a blast that'd be) and all work together towards the commong goal, then they are willing when they create a character on a server which already had 5+ masters with money and everything, in which it feels more like the one of those "join my city and get a small house for free". The comparisson doesn't go up completely, but starting over with the whole gang is way more fun then having toentertain up to master while the already well established people are building up the city and have widespread names.

I think its already been mentioned that it would probably not be on one of the busier servers, and that unless we get the ability to copy characters most would be starting off as noobs. I love Bria but I just don't see it as a viable choice for a server simply because of its population.

Sure would. Sign me up. I think it's a great idea, regardless of how many people raise their hands to come join up.

you guys are really good at making long posts, however I'm not so good with reading them... so let me skip over a few ( )

I wouldn't completely switch servers, and hopefully it's obviously to see why. I'm the mayor of a metropolis (soon to be mayor of another city also), and the whole "politician corr" thing doesn't work really well sans my own city O.o

however, if there is something like this, I would love to make a new char and join the city. I know how important entertainers are, and one of the reasons my city gets all the traffic is because of our popular entertainer, which usually have entertainers in it (afk or not, but only atk entertainers get center stage attention). I don't know how this would apply with live cities, since there's always an infestation of macrotainers and buff bots that are readily available to the public... but if you're up to it, it's worth a try. I would help if you're really up to it

They change all the time.

Of course, you'll never find things like Talusian water anywhere but Talus.

Just open your survey tool to see what's currently available on the planet you're on.

Your tool will automatically adjust as you travel from planet to planet.

www.swgcraft.com is a great place to look to see what's currently spawned where.

Of course, you're on your own to find it.

Ok, I make a Health Buff at say 700 at 7000. Ok in no particular order I make a strength at 900 at 12000. Ok here is the catch...the same exact rescources are used, the same experimentation etc. Everything I do is exactly the same. SO here is the question. Why do I get diffrent results doing the same exact thing using the same exact rescources using the same exact droid using the same experimentation crafting apron same exact food and chemical tool in the same spot on the same server? Action of course is exempt due to being able to use alternative rescources. And dont tell me its in the experimentaion or the PE, DR, OQ or whatever set of letters they use for this complicated crap.

Actually, it IS in the experimentation. When you experiment, you have a chance to get a bad result, a mediocre result, or a great result, or something in between any of those.

When you experiment, pay attention to how good your results were. A dialog box will appear after the experiment to tell you whether it was a critical failure, success, amazing success, et cetera.

Not all experiments will turn out the same. If you don't like your results, scrap the item and make another. It shouldn't take more than a couple attempts to craft something you like.

You must of had some failures in that first go around. When I make sets of buffs, short of having a failure, all my buffs coms out with the same exact stats usually.

if everything was exactly the same there should be no difference, are you sure you did'nt get and "good" quality or worse experiments on the pack that came out lower?
