First, your starter ship can't hyper space so you cannot travel. Once you get a new ship you will be able to travel. By doing that hit 'H' whil ein space to hyper soace, or when you are on the ground use the Starship Terminal in the spaceports you use to Launch, but click the "Travel" Option. From there you can travel to Lok, Corellia, Naboo or Tatooine.

To talk to a Space Station to land or repair, first press 'C' to target the nearest station. Then press '\' to communicate with it. You have to be within 1000m of the station to communicate with it. From there just choose the options the station gives you.

As for the chat box, you can just hit 'ENTER' to go back and forth from the chat box from space. Once you send a message you should return to your normal flight. You can also use 'Alt' to return to normal flight. Also, from flight you can press '/' to go to your chat box.

Once you get your new ship traveling is a lot eaiser due to hyper spacing. Also, you can use 'ctrl V' to bring up your galactic map. From there you can see where you are, your surroundings and a list of your WPs, POIs, Hyperspace points, and Space Stations. You can also shoose to auto pilot to places or save the waypoints by right clicking them on the list.
