I started this thread last night, after 3 posts i went to bed, wake up and 3 pages long. Not even going to bother reading all of your crap insults. Once again glad to see people can be constructive, makes me wonder the type of people that play this game.
One moron even threw in something about working at McDonalds... amazing how personal some people take this game.. even the "so called" casual gamers.
I'm casual in my playstyle only. I'm nowhere near being casual about being told "if you want to be a jedi but are a casual player then go get a jedi game, play jedi all you want." when i pay the exact same amount of cash for my server utilization as they do.
Grinding FS xp isn't difficult. It's stupid. Attempting to promote the exclusion of a group of people because they object to doing something stupid isn't laudable. Callinghimself'better' than another personbecause of his ability to do something stupid is well... Stupid.
Doesn't matter how much you spend...it's what you do. What is this crap...let's just let everyone get any skills they want and make it just 'click a button and pick your skills!' God, what a softball nation this truly is.
Isn't that how you're earning your FS XP now? Just clicking a button? Literally, clicking a single button (whichever hotkey you assigned the grenades to) provided you were too unmotivated to look up how to write a macro for it.
If you want to talk making the path to Jedi difficult, I've got no problem with that. Attempting to call this system difficult, deserving of reward and supporting the exclusion of people who might actually be up to any challenge you're capable of meeting short of rearranging their real life to revolve around a game is insulting. And a bit hypocritical from my perspective, given the lack of any challenge outside attempting to give priority to a game in your life. I suppose you'd demand a 10.0 for being able to skate in a straight line the longest in figure skating too.
OK! i think i see the point here... we are no longer upset about anything but the fact that the way to unlock right now sucks.... grinding mindless fs xp is dumb. I AGREE!!!! give us quests that last like 2 or 3 weeks instead of this grinding.

Doesn't matter what the scale is used to determine better
Agreed, it shouldn't be like this but it is.

Doesn't matter what the scale is used to determine betterIf it's time, then it's time. If it's skill, then it's skill. If it's knowledge, then it's knowledge. For a large portion of Jedi, it's time invested...actually, for most professions in the game it's time. So yes, more time = better. Doesn't make sense to say that, but that's what it is. Honestly...what other skill is there in SWG? I already said that there are areas including preparation, awareness, intelligence, etc. that separates elite PvP'ers from the rest, but really...it can only go so far. What...can you 'swing' your saber better than everyone else or something? Simple fact...you spend more time getting items than the next guy, you have better items, thus you are better for the most part. I'm not saying it's right, but I'm saying that's how it is.
Tathizar wrote:no title and people still continue lol this is getting just funny now.... in response to paying the same $15 and getting any skill you want....all I have to say is we might as well just set up one of those frogs (never done betas?? things that you can just get any skill you want from it..) I mean players that just started playing first minute should be able to get a jedi too right? and they should get tons of credits like others right? i mean they pay their $15 a month too.
I think the biggest point to this discussion, is that you made a statement that basically said that casual gamers have no business being a jedi. This was a judgement error on your part. If a casual gamer is going to do the same grind that you did, then they have just as much right to be a jedi as you do. Just because it took them twice the time to accomplish this goal because they have a family or other real life obligations doesn't make them any less deserving.
As far as the power gamers being "better". This just shows their ignorance. Yes, the more time you play the quicker you can get the equipment you want. But, equipment in the game only gets so good. If I get that equipment even a month later than a power gamer it really doesn't matter because at that point I'm on an even playing field. It's not hard to go out and get loot. I do it all the time. I'm a semi-casual gamer but I've been playing long enough that I have my millions of credits and anything I care to buy or go find.

That's not the point. Maybe people just don't like seeing a thread that tells them that because they don't play as much as someone else, they aren't entitled to the same things in game as someone else, or aren't as "good" as someone who plays more. I'll do the grind. It's excessive for a casual gamer, but I'll do it. I am doing it. But I'm not going to listen to someone tell me that I shouldn't have a Jedi because I don't play as much as they do. Know what else? I'll enjoy playing a Jedi no matter how hard it is or how slow my advancement will be because I will be playing a Jedi.
When you make a flammatory post like this, you have to expect it to turn bad as no one wants to sit around and be told that they can't do something or someone is better than they are simply because they spend more time in-game. I've proven that's a wrong attitude, as I have everything required to be "leet" according to another poster, and I only average about 10 hours a week.
As for the other poster who doesn't know why people play the professions they do because they can't kill a Krayt or whatever, you have totally missed the point of an MMORPG, and they haven't. The point is to play a character in a setting, interacting with other players in that setting and having fun. If you want a combat character who kills Krayts, fine. If you want a Dancer who dances in a Cantina and chats with others, good. This is all Role-Playing and is what the game is about! Competition is all well and good, but if all you can think about in this game is having the best template and the best equipment so you can defeat other players, then again, you've missed the whole point of an MMORPG.

Did you even READ my first post? I STATED LETS REMAIN CONSTRUCTIVE I WANT TO HEAR YOUR OPINIONS, PLEASE DO NOT FLAME. Tell me how I was starting a flame post?
As for the point... if you read my other post in respose the what a crap thread this turned into... i am a casual player too, played since Sept or Oct of 2003, and I still haven't unlocked but am I complaining that this grind is too hard and too long? no. It should be hard and long, again this is my opinion.

Agreed. That poster should go try and solo the Krayt Dragon in KOTOR. That's how difficult a Krayt dragon SHOULD be. Probably also how difficult they used to be before these over powered buff's got put into the game. Speaking of that... haha. Just think how hard the grind will be after the CU when buff's are nerfed.

Yes, I read your first post and every post after it. I was simply stating that your subject "Jedi Is tough, not meant for casual players" was not an opening to a good constructive discussion because it seemed to say that casual players should not be Jedi. Also, your statement inside the post " i would hate to see 50 jedi running around on a server that are all casual players" reinforced this point. If you're a casual player going for Jedi, you shouldn't be saying this.
The other parts of my post were responding to others who felt people who played longer were better, and to others who don't quite get the RPG part of MMORPG.
This discussion has been everywhere and nowhere. I apologise for mixing up responses, posters, etc and I hope this ends soon as it's gotten pointless. I've made my point, I'm done here.

Then we can finally agree on something. As it stands, I utterly refuse to unlock another combat xp skill branch. I've unlocked Melee Defense and filled 2 boxes of it. Enough to utterly loathe the thought of unlocking another branch and doing the exact same thing again. The system will punish any deviation from doing the exact same thing by lengthening the path to Jedi. It's stupid makework and completely unchallenging.

Yes, I admit that the post title probably wasn't the best thinking back... i have a HORRIBLE habit of bad topic names that don't mean at all what I am trying to get after. I am not the best writer at putting down what I feel, and often the point I try to make doesn't come across right away. I have no problems with 50 casual jedi running around.. my problems are in the casual gamer... or any gamer really, that wants the grind to be easier. I still haven't unlocked for over a year and I am almost there.. to see many others crying for an easier unlock just kills me. play the game have fun with it and work on the grind slowly. many people complain about it mainly because they try to grind non stop and there is no content in that. so of course you can see why they will grind.Of course non of this is directed at you, but just other people who have posted similar to this.
