FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT BUY ANYTHING LOGITECH! Yes it works great...for 3 months, than you will understand why you can not settle for it. Everytime i fly it now drifts to the right randomly, getting a precise shot on anything is impossible. And of course they will not replace it even though the warranty sais 1 year. By the way this peice of crap cost me 80$ canadian.

Oh crap, YOU TOO....I have the exact same problem. I have found that if I unplug it from the USB and replug it a couple times sometimes that clears it. I have no idea why. The st*pid thing is supposed to be digital, but it acts like an out of cal analog....I actually have 3 of them 1 for my wife and kids who also play JTL...sometimes I randomly switch them around to clear them. They are friggin annoying.

When they work its nice because of twist throttle and heavy base, when they are messing up you just want to smash them.

The funny thing is that I have actually seen the problem on each of them....it makes me wonder if it not the Joystick but the game thats having a problem....what really sucks is I went through 1 1 1 1 pilot wondering why my guildmates could whip around and whipe out everything insight before I realized the Logitech stick was turning faster in one direction then the other. So my ship couldn't turn inside of anything if it was going the wrong direction LOL. I kept saying in TS hey what engine do you guys have ....I just can't turn like you can...oh well JTL is fun even if joysticks are problematic POS

Not trying to hijack the thread - this is related:

I've been flying with a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro for a year or so and am relatively happy - need to reset it by unplugging the USB outside game to center it more frequently than I'd prefer; that's my biggest complaint.

However my big question centers around: I Recently met a multi-ace pilot that swears that in the SWG implementation a mouse is far superior to the joystick. Is this a commonly held belief? I haven't flown with the mouse since just after JTL launched.

Thanks!

LOL well I just posted about the logitech on the post above and missed this one....seems you've also figured out that unplugging it and replugging it seems to reset it. Thanks for confirming its not just a hallucination.

Well as soon as i got the joystick i did a google search on it. Its definetely not just this game. And the unplug and plug back in thing worked for a little while, but it doesnt anymore. It sometimes actually makes it worse for me. I will never buy another item from logitech again.

is flying in JTL easier with a good joystick ?

I never tried it with one (cuz i don't have one), i always used my mouse + keyboard.

at first it was a lot harder to hit my targets. it was like the lead reticle didnt matter. but since ive been playing with a stick for about a month, i wouldnt go back to mouse/keyboard. haha i tried.

I have 150 million prestige points and am now on my third Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I have stuck with it only because during the time it works it is a dream joystick and I only paid $25 for each one from Walmart. Totally comfortable, responsive and 12 great progammable buttons. However, the calibration issue is an established problem that Logitech refuses to address. After unplugging/replugging the USB connection every 10 min during flight just to reset the calibration, it will eventually lose any ability to hold calibration after a few more months use. I did just recently download the Wingman Calibration Clear Utitlity which basically removesthe registry entries for ALL gaming devices from your PC. After reboot and plugging the joystick back in the calibration returns to normal.

This will most likely be my last Logitech though. The first one lasted 6 months before developing calibration problems but my last two started showing problems after only 3 months time. I may have to consider the X-52 based on most of the comments I read here.

I tried the clear calibration but when i do it it just tells me theres nothign to calibrate or something like that. It sais its probably already been deleted.

The X52 most certainly does have a rudder twist function on the stick. There is however a way to lock out the twist function for games whereyou do not want that capability.

I downloaded the lws_clrc.exe file from the Logitech support page. Im using Win XP-Pro and it gave mea couple messages asking me to verify I wanted to remove certain registry entries. I just said Yes and then it completed the purge of the gaming config entries in the registry. My Logitech joystick has now been performing better the last 24 hours since the reset. Not sure how long it will last though before the registry calibration files get corrupted again.
