Hehe, I have to say, I love threads like these...
No arguements of how Jedi shouldn't use joysticks or how all Imperials are "mouse-users"!
Hehe, just some good around-the-camp-fire-on-our-monitors conversation.
Who brought the cyber-marshmallows?
And pass me a virtual beer!
(Excuse me, I just came out of the GCW Forums and enjoyed seeing this thread still gaining new, friendly posts)
I'm going to look into grabbing some USB connectors for the PS2 controllers...
My girlfriend finally started becoming more of a pilot, but I think she's more comfortable with a game controller than a joystick (Hmm... keep the thoughts clean... I'll leave the sentence instead of editing it... against better judgement).
May as well give those controllers a try before we buy some more sticks.
Oh, and TH, I do the same as far as RP-ing in cockpit mode.
I actually did most of my journey, with Omadda, up to Alliance Ace in 1st Person... up until the 4th Tier... then I found myself switching to 3rd person and decided to stick to it.
(I previously did Alliance master with my Jedi mostly 3rd person, but I thought of it as representative of my character's extra sensory perceptions)
Hehe, ahh, tired geekiness!
May the force be with you.

I use a logitech extreme 3d pro, and im happy with it up to the point that it gets hard to sensitively manuever.
Poor sensitivity. By the time you get it to move the ship it pushes the ship past your target.
Minor problem, untill you have it with lag, and very low FPS like I work with.

Does anyone know if the playstation style analog controlers work alright for this game??
As a matter of fact, I use a PSOne controller, so yes.
You can find ps-to-USB converters on ebay rather cheap. I got mine (a 2 port) for about $5.
