Chasis decay is real, but you'll never lose your ship because of it. A chassis will never drop below 9 HP. So the only real problem you'll have is that it takes fewer hits to destroy you. However, if you're out of armor and out of shields, a few hits really won't make that much difference anyway.

Chassis HP work like armor. When the Sheilds and Armor are gone, a single shot from a teir 1 ship will send you packing if you are at 9HP. On the otherhand, a ship with 1800HP will be able to take a few hits from a teir 5 and still limp home.

While doing my last Ace profession, I died 2 times. Once while messing around in an area I had no right to be in at my level....wingman was an ace and got waxed...leaving me solo. The other was in my first run on the vette. Called in BS and took out the fighter screen when a privateer showed up and killed my BS while I was taking out the reactor. All guns suddenly noticed me and hit me at once while he ran off laughing....needless to say, he knew he was destroying my BS. Now even with those 2 deaths, I got hit by gunboats a LOT. I got nailed by wings of of fighters one after the other. I got hit by numerous missiles. My chassis having a good amount of HP is the only reason I survived. I even got jumped by a total of 14 teir 4 Kimos at once do to a natural spawn and a mission spawn. Took 5 hits from missiles at once. Lost all my sheilds, armor and even say components dropping, but still managed to C2SS2 and manuever my way to winning. Chassis HP was the only reason I survived.

I'm sure some people don't mind flying in what amounts to being a big gas tank. I don't see that as a viable option. In my opinion, one a chassis hits 1K, its time to think about retiring it. I feel at that mark that it is more of a liability and not worth the hassle to deal with. Sure, my JSF will be around long past that, but it will be in a noncombat mode by then (lvl9 engine, big booster and EO4).

Yeah...I thought I could grind the whole of Pilot with one ship. Needless to say, once the chassis got down to about 50 hps or so it was just too ridiculous to contemplate going up against Teir 5 ships anymore with substandard componenets AND a chassis on the verge of explosion at all times. The Rik I picked up then was like a tank but it could take a pounding even when the shields and armor went down. Haven't lost a ship in a non PVP situation since.

What I find so amazing is how some people complain about "overpriced" crafters yet don't have a clue about
what it takes to make the things they claim are overpriced.

It'salso interesting that when good pilots post about crafted items they rarely if ever use the word overpriced or greedy. They talk about the things that make components work for them; what characteristics a particular component should have to perform better in a given situation. They also don't necessarily fly a reward ship as their primary, but rather use the ship that best fits the mission. Maybe it's because they took the time to learn some things so that they can speak intelligently on the subject. They KNOW what it takes to make an engine, a booster, etc. And they can make an informed decision on the price and quality of the things a given shipwright produces. They also have the money to pay for quality, because they are good at what they do. A good pilot can grind out a couple hundred thousand credits in no time, just by doing what they would do anyway, namely fly and fight spawns. So maybe the one's who complain and give exagerated examples of overpriced shipwrights should consider exploring some other aspect of the game. You can't be good at everything and it's possible that the space game is one of the things they just aren't good at. If they were, money would not be such an issue.

Oh, and for those who don't believe in decay, or think it's not important, here's tip: add some doc skills to your template, they will come in handy.

Im thinking the Majority of player-pliots would prefer it being a reward. Goddness knows if shipwrights got schms for them

1. You'd have a hard time finding it like every other Master ship

2. It'd be Millions and millions of credits because of the iconic nature of the ships.

Why cant everyone enjoy these shipsthen only richfew with all the greedy shipwrights we have.

most tier 4 and master ships require so much in the way of resources that I don't like making them without a special order. If the people in my galaxy send me an email i will make them, as for these being a reward, there are already six great ships, better then anything we can make, out there to kill our market. these shouldn't be

It takes 80k to make a tier 4 ship. And you were selling them for what it cost to mine the resources to make them. And you think you made money?

Well, I think you made it pretty clear why you are an "X" shipwright.

That's what I was trying to say from the very beginning - I'm glad someone else can see that, too.

There are a number of us that agree with that. But I won't hold it against someone that want so spend their time not making money. It's their time. They can do what they want.

No disputing that... but the people who don't care about staying profitable wind up dropping any crafting profession pretty quickly. One canot help but wonder if such people simply don't realize that this is why their profession seems harder or less enjoyable than they'd expected.
