My point is not that Jedi should be uber in space. I am simply illustrating that there are obvious differences between classes that should be addressed.

I'd happen to say that the Pilot should win that fight.

Given that Piloting skills are a seperate entity than 'Ground-based Skills', they really shouldn't be any cross-exchange.

Further it's a flawed comparison. Consider the following.

Who should win in a fight planetside? An Artisan or an Entertainer? It sorta depends on what other combat skills the Artisan and the Entertainer have.

I agree completely with Reiella. Being an Architect has no bearing on whether you are a good pilot or not. Who's to say that architectdidn't serve in the Clone Wars as a pilot?Or whatever you want to make up for his past. The late Jimmy Stewart was an actor, but it didn't prevent him from flying bombers during WW2.

And being a Jedi doesn't automatically mean great pilot. They all have different strengths and abilities. Not every Jedi is the equal of Luke or Anakin in a fighter.

This is all moot anyway, since it has been stated thatthe expansion doesn't have anyturn-based skill mods at all. It's completely based on the player's hand/eye coordination. And howniceof a joystick he owns.

Personally, I am looking forward to dogfighting with both my characters, a master swordsman and a master merchant/weaponsmith. If you are worried about your Jedi losing to a Merchant, then I suggest you practice your twitch skills. No reason to give you an advantage just because of your land-based profession.

Since jedi are supposed to have great reflexes and able to see things before they happen, perhaps there should be a system in place that gives them a sort of "Jedi Sense." By putting a half a second delay or a full second delay on firing in the start of a fight (lasers need to charge or something), a jedi starpilot could get a warning of an incoming attack. With this a jedi could potentially save themsleves from a quick flame out by a volley of laserfire via an ambush or surprise attack. It may give a skilled Jedi pilot the moment they'd need to evade the attack or they could get caught unaware anyway. Having a system like this could spare a jedi from a quick flame out but wouldnt neccessarily be an advantage over a prolonged dogfight.
Other than that I dont know if Jedi should have anything else as Obiwan didnt really seem to have any additional powers in his encounter with Jango Fett in the asteroid field as seen in Ep II.

Oh I'm not trying to ruin the game for anyone else. I just think it is silly that Jedi characters have no way to "sense" danger. It is silly that Jedi wouldn't have at least a small token bonus to speed or flight control. Jedi shouldn't have anything that completely takes the balance away from JTL. Jedi should in no way have something that takes away from the twitch based nature of the game. They should have something, however. They ARE in tune with the force.

A bonus to speed or flight control does ruin it for everyone else. We want a level playing field and space is our best chance for that, since the ground base game will never be balanced. You start giving classes bonuses like that and you automatically ruin the concept of an even chance for all. When does it stop after that? Do smugglers get an automatic bonus because they are smugglers? Do Droid Engineers get a bonus because they can trick out their droids for their X-Wing?

See where this is going?

Different types of players should be able to enhance their experience in different ways. DEs and Shipwrights should be able to trick out their droids and ships a little more for themselvesthan they could for a customer. Jedi could perhaps have the extra one second to manuver as an enemy ship charges its lasers. Smugglers should be able to fly a little faster.

We are talking about small enhancements that enchance gameplay. JTL can be compared to a MultiplayerFirst Person Shooter in that it is twitch based. In an FPS (like UT2004) some players have an advantage over other players. If I have a "rocket launcher" and my opponent only has a "pistol"
at the time, I will probably win. But witha little skill that other player can still easily beat me.

I'm talking aboutvarying the experience for each class rather than everyone using one non-changing cookie cutter system. Some people like to have heavy guns and don't really care how fast they move. Other people can manuver well and do not need as much offensive power. If these two players fight, it will be balanced as each has their own advantage and disadvantage.

But let's pretend that Player A has better guns, but Player B doesn't have a speed increase. The fight is still pretty fair because the gun damage increase is only a small number like 5%.The fight will be hard for Player B but he could win with some strategy.

THAT is what balance is about. Making the system the same for everyone so that everyone is completely equal is not balance... it is just uncreative.

Looks like you've spent quite a bit of time hologrinding yourself. You never got your Jedi slot, so now you're bitter. Understandable.

Anyway, Jedi don't rule the ground, never have. A Fencer can own a Guardian on live easily enough, it's only getting worse after the patch. If you don't want Jedi to have powers in space, then say that without being stupid. Saying Jedi rule anything but Enraged Rancors is plain stupidity.

Now then, the devs already said Jedi will be getting something special in space. You people always fire back with the 100% twitch arguement. Well, JTLS is not 100% twitch. This isn't Tribes or Counter Strike where everyone is equipped equally, it's still an RPG.

Your twitch skills will be limited drastically by your ship and your profession. Someone higher in the pilot tree than you gets access to better shields, weapons, droids, and ships. You won't manuever as well in aY-Wing as someone in a TIE Advanced. So even if they aren't as good a pilot, they can compensate with technology and their ship. That's where the difference can come into play. And that's where a Jedi will most likely get their bonus.

I predict Jedi will get modifiers to ship handling, speed, and acceleration in order to simulate their innate reflexes. I don't see them getting any bonuses to offense or defense. So while it can compliment their twitch skills, it won't make up for having none.

It should be 100% TWITCH BASED! Stupid hologrinders should just be banded from it competely. You've ruined the main game don't ruin the space game with your whining for special treatment crap.

Forget the BROKEN CLASSES in the ground game. It is broken BEYOND REPAIR. Lets see if SOE can do something better and hopefully more fun with a free for all twitch based space shooter without of all the artisan vs. TKM crap. I don't give a rats behind about the classes etc in the broken ground game. You Jedi created this mess now enjoy it while the rest of us do something different in the space game.

This isn't an insult.. it is a joke:

You all sound like bitterSWG ground game refugees.

You hated the game so much but could not part with the community.

I hope that your last hope (JTL) lives up to your expectations.

LOL, I know I am. I need skill-based combat to stay interested. Like I said before, nice gear will help out, but if someone can't fly, they can't fly. Not like the ground game where som virtual unknownloots a set of legendary acklay bones or a sick mind fire lance and is suddenly a PvP god.
