Yes you can paint your ship (updated the FAQ with that and a few things)

How do I loot in space?
Once you take out an enemy the loot and credits are transfered to you. There won't be a "loot" option like there is on the ground game.
Emm does that mean if ur in a group (squardon) and you take out a emeny the person that did the most damge gets the loot or will it rota around the grp say if one person get the loot then he wont get anymore loot tell after everyone else?
You will share credits, but unsure on loot.

This there a release date for the people that perordered the game? It mentioned beta in the order form however it did not say much as to its release date. I have heard that it should ship before oct 1st but can anyone comfirm or deny this?
Will the preodered bonus ship that comes with the above mentioned "beta" be a speeder or a spaceship?
Also will we be able to use a throttle with the game? ...I know we can use a joystick but I hadnt seen much about a throttle...
Thanks everyone...I cant wait to shoot at all you lovely imperials in space

The Beta dates were released when purchasing the JTL by pre-order from www.gamestop.com. I will get more info when I purchase it this today. I believe you get the Beta disk there. But not 100% sure. I know it does discuss you get a starter ship when you are a novice pilot. Read the JTL homepageon this website and it tells you everything on how to access a pilot spot and ship. I believe this will be the same for the Beta. Good luck fellow Imps !!!
Hail to the Empire !!!

I have a question:
If i don't buy the JTL, will i still be able to play SWG once JTL goes live? Won't there be crashes because of missing software?

How many ships can I own?
A dev at Gencon said one ship, although they are thinking about working with that number.
great post viper - just to update you on the number of ships you can own, its gone upto 3 now, and the dev even said that was pretty flexible... this is from the stratics chat a couple of days ago

You will be able to play just fine. You just won't be able to play as a shipwright or pilot professionsor as the Ithorian or Sullustan species.
You will be able to see such things because when it does go live you will automatically download the textures of everything you need.

Rebel pilots should also be able to fly the YT-1300 beside neutral pilots. Han Solo turned rebel and he did not have to give back his ship.

can droids with datapads storage parts be upgraded to hold ships?, thus allowing 3 in your datapad, but you can have more, you just need to transfer them

The one question that I didn't see was how to get your first ship built and what is the engineering level you can start out with when equiping your ship. First time i've ever tried this since i've got a character in swg that i want to get a ship for when jtl starts up at the end of this month.

regarding the current debate about Yaw and Roll controls. Speaking as someone who currentlypilotsREAL aircraft (not just sims) AS WELL as played (and finished) the great games of X-wing and Tie fighter as a youth, I'd like to point out that the seemingly 'backwards' control scheme outlined for JTL is not backwards at all.
FLIGHT DYNAMICS IN REAL LIFE:
In real aircraft, rolling is accomplished with lateralmovement of the flight column (joystick) causing theaircraft to spin about its longitudinal axis. Visually, the horizon will tilt from alevel position ( like this --- ) to a slanted position (like this / or this \ ) The result of this, due purelyto the atmospheric condition in which aircraft fly, is aTURN - that is, a change in heading. The greater tha amount of roll, the faster the rate of turn.
Yawing a real world aircraft (and aircraft in sims) is accomplished bythe rudder pedals andcauses the plane to rotate around its Z axis - that is, thevertical axis (which would be perpendicular to the ground in level flight). In real flight, yawing is not used to turn aircraft (except maybe for fine tuning a final approach) because the vertical stabilizer and associated rudder do not generate a turning force as well as the ailerons on the wings do.
But you already knew all this didn't you. So why am I telling you this, and why am I telling you thatSWG has it right by making it backwards?
STAR WARS SPACE FLIGHT
Because space flight is NOT atmospheric flight. In X-wingAlliance,therollingMOVEMENTwas accomplished by twisting the flight column (or using rudder pedals) but contrary to atmospheric flight, does NOT result in a change in heading (does not result in TURNING the spacecraft). This is because you're in space and have no air rushing past moving ailerons which would cause your aircraft to bank (turn). Instead, rolling wouldsimplycause the starfield to rotate around your center crosshairs with no appreciable change in heading. Changing your heading, that is, TURNING, (or rotating around the Z axis) is accomplished with moving the flight column left or right. In a real aircraft, this would be referred to as "yaw".
To me this seems somewhat realistic (although I'm no shuttle pilot) becausecontrollable movement in space would probably be accomplished with thrusters.movement around the Z axis would be accomplished using thrusters situated on the sides of a spacecraft and would result in a change in heading. Thrusters which would cause the spacecraft toroll would not cause a change in heading.Think of awell-thrown football, spinning through the air. The spin on the football does not cause it to veer to the right or left., even though this spin is what we would normally call "roll" in an aircraft, and would cause an aircraft to veer right or left. However, if someone exerted a force on the side of the football while it was in the air, it would veer to theside. This kind of motion would bea yawing motion because the football would turn about its Z axis, and WOULD result in a turn.
So you see, our devs at SWG have got it right after all. It won't seem backwards to you if you think about it. Turning the spacecraft will still be done by moving the joystick right and left. This is the way it was done in previous X-wing style games with joysticks. It IS backwards in TERMINOLOGY to real flight, but not really backwards in terms of what is actually happening.
Hope this clears things up.
