SWG doesn't need saving. It's a quite sucessful MMO. It's by no means perfect but no MMO is, especially after only 1 year.

JTL is fun. JTL is challenging. JTL is different from the ground game. You will not have a complete JTL experience if you only fly the first tier of missions. Those are quite easy and the AI is quite dumb. Get your ass up to tier 4 and the master box, and you'll get a much smarter and much more deadly AI. For example, you can't just drop in on the tail of one ship, because it will lead you in front of it's wingmates.

While that's true, lots of companies that have observed how other MMORPG has worked has done pretty well.... DAOC? EnB? These games when released didn't have gamebreaking bugs like SWG did on first release... and of course majority of these people who promised so and so never held back on it unlike.. /cough what's been going on in SWG.

SWG was supposedly a game that could change every month as the story progresses. The only story we ever got was 3 story arcs over the whole year after the game was released. DAOC had a dynamic world where pvp was essential in certain aspect to get stronger and stuff. EnB actually had a really nice story arc that happened every month... the problem that went downhill for EnB was that a lot of the quests and contents never worked yet, IE never really fully completed, however the story arc was really nice...

Anyways, my gripe is, what happens when JTL comes out? The development team will be more spread out then ever and fixes on various issues will ltake even logner...

But I really do hope JTL will help SWG overall, but I don't plan on getting it till I see some improvment on the ground aspect. While Space is vital, I think about 70% of the movies were mostly ground based....

That's a hard statement to make and to disagree with. On pure numbers alone, SWG is 2nd in North America in terms of total playerbase.

But at the same time, how much of that is attributed to the Star Wars name, as opposed to the game itself. The biggest thing that makes me wonder is the poor player retention rate this game seems to have. Before playing SWG, I played long stints in both Ultima Online and Asheron's Call. Friends I made there stayed in the game for years.

In any game you play you will always have friends leaving the game for whatever reason. But for some reason (and maybe this is just me, though I doubt it), many players just don't stay here very long. As many problems as this game has, that may be the biggest negative for me. It gets old having all of you good friends and hunting buddies take off, and it keeps happening over and over.

No space bombs that I noticed..

I see JTL as the toy I harrased my parents for as a kid. Once I got it and played with it for a few days, it got relegated to the bottom of the toy box until it was discovered and given to another child ages later.

The graphics are great. No question about it in my mind. THe multi player ships is a nice touch and fun to horse around with for about the first couple hours. But the novelty wears off fast since there is no real integration between the ground game and the space game, your left to choose what your going to do next.

For those eager to hit master, they'll be busy for a while but I think a very useful question for all the big goals in SWG is, what do you do once you reach your goal? Was the fun in attaining the goal or is there more beyond it?

I grudgingly worked my way up to Master pilot. The climb was fun at times and really boring at others. I hate quests and thats probably why. But once I was Master Pilot, Icruised around a bit and checked out the sites but I had nothing to do and ended up using my multi player ship as a place I could set up crafting stations and craft undisturbed and in new surroundings. Yeah I would occasionally head out with my B-Wing and kill some stuff but remember, I had just finished a week and a half doing that.

Take combat flight sim, toss in a bunch of quests and there you go, you have JTL in terms of how it plays. kill stuff, get another mission, kill stuff, get another mission, kill stuff, get another mission.

Anyway, thats how its been for me.

There are space bomb missiles and seismic missiles, however neither is very similar to the seismic charges Jango released.

First, the graphics were beautiful and performance in space was very smooth. I used a joystick and I felt like my ship handled pretty good. I think some people willlike it, so give it a chance and see.

For me it's not enough though. I felt alone in space and also a kind of disconnect from my character. Also I agree with the initial poster that it kind of feels like just another boring grind. To each his own...but if I was going to play a game of this type, I wouldn't want the kind of downtime that seems to be inherent in a mmorpg.

Reading some of the responses to the beta testers reminds me of when this game launched. Beta testers came out and said, hey, there are some issues with this game. Suddenly peeps are getting nasty and insulting beta testers and such. I love optimism, but chill out and listen to what some people have to say. Get the game, play it, and if you disagree then make a post if you want. Not every opinion different from yours has to be proved wrong...lol.

Please explan these bugs. I do not recall having large bug issues.

Good. More database space for me!!

Seriously. If you're not gonna be happy with it, then why play at all. Don't try to make it a Holy Crusade to convert others to your way of thinking by spewing all you see wrong with a game. People who stay are those who love the game for what it is. A STAR WARS GAME!! Don't let the door hit ya.

Also, remember that EQ was the first 3D MMO of it's kind and for the first couple of years it was out it was also very simple and actually worse than SWG was/is. Imagine what SWG will be like in a few years. I mean, how long has EQ been out? Like 6 years? And it's still going strong. If you're too impatient to wait for all the great things in a game, then you either need medication, or weren't spanked enough as a kid.

Eq at the time had only 1 competitor and that was UO. So had a steady player base , SWG was noted as one of the fastest growing MMORPG, but also Fast one to decline. The last offical number give out was in march 2004 and that was not given out by SOE the numbers SOE gave out was like 500k subscribers. The numbers that was determined was around 275k subscribers and thats when most servers had a Medium traffic and even a few had heavy traffic. Look at all the servers now none have medium all are light.

We arent trying to convert anyone, but at least with this info in hand people can make a informed decision on this. Instead of following blindly and buying something that they will later regret. There are many bugs that have yet to be squashed in JTL that has been around for a while. Although I doubt they will get them fixed.

SWG has potential to be the greatest MMORPG out there, yet it continues to fall short from deliverying it . The devs consitatntly make bad choices in putting things out almost never listening to the community. That certain things do not work. Now if the Devs paid attention to the community some of these chnges would have been great.

The devs tend to turn a blind eye to the community and put out things that do not work or work half azzed .

Actually I think the devs are very responsive. Remember AT-STs? Please, tell me somthing that was put out half azzed.

I play this game all the time. Its like my life. Ive spent money to play this game for almost a year. So in my opinion, after all that ive done, what's30 bucks or whatever it is for this game. Ive been waiting for this for a long time. If its good, awesome, and if its not, then its my fault for buying it. And i mean, if it isn't right for ya, then just stay on the ground and go for jedi or sumthin. I think it will be great and I mean when no one in ur guild is on and ur bored out of ur mind, nuthin like goin into space and having a party while doin some pvp. I mean u can customize ur ships and have fun making them ur own. You can decorate your ships however ya want. So its fun, i think, to start with some little humble ship and take a little bit to make it awesome. But that's just me. Unfortunatly, i can't comment on the ai, as i'm not in beta, but i must say that the screenies of space and the ships blows my mind. And if its awful, no one's fault buy my own.
