Thread: Dead Loot System

I couldn't agree more on the Loot being Incredibly poor now.

I live in a small guild with a pretty active bunch of flyers, who all donate their loot to our resident SW.

I had a look through this weeks loot (around 400 pieces) and to be honest most of it was junk.

Weapon drops are incredibly rare atm with armour and boosters being the most common.

There seems to be no middle ground between RE kit and Crafted.

For example.

You can craft a lvl9 engine with speed 100+ but the PYR 55-60 are very poor.

Re lvl9 engines are around the 70speed mark with better 60-75 PYR stats.

This kind of thing is pretty much across the board with looted andcrafted equipment,

The worst thing is the huge amount of effort required to harvest and only really being able to makemedicore products.

RE side of things well storage and sorting are a huge pain in the arse ( I currently store things on a vendor).

The devs really need to bring a sensible approach to the whole business as currently it is fundamentally flawed.

Perhaps looting schematics or even have a decent quest to get them for space equipment would be a better approach to the current system.

And most definetly look at the current experimentaion available to SW, because it is impossible to make a good all round product.

The only really coveted space Equipment is the KSE and to be honest getting all the disk for that is mind numbingly boring.

(Not seen a disk in the last 4 weeks with an average of 400 pieces RE'd per week)

Thanks for showing =P Do you hava any idea if this will ever be tweaked? That's odd that I haven't looted a level 10 engine since I was in T3, or was is early T4? What do you think about my perm upgrade idea for parts crafting? Stay in contact.biwan: May the force be with us in space...

Specific types of level 10 loot aren't exactly falling from the sky, but they're out there. I pulled about five pieces of level 10 stuff from a T4 duty mission last night, including a very nice gun, and I tend to get a handful of level 10 gear if I spend an hour or two in Deep Space. Of course, it's mostly armor and capacitors, but the money and faction points I make along with it feels like a nice complement of stable gain next to the jackpot of a great piece of level 10 loot.

I'm sure the loot system is always up for tweaking--we have seen a number of changes (mostly nerfs ) to space loot already--but I don't know of any plans to do so currently. As far as your idea goes, I love the concept of finding a way to involve shipwrights in the loot process in ways beyond REing, but I think this suggestion might make it a little too easy on us while making it more difficult for new or non-pilot SWs to compete. A similar suggestion I've heard is to let shipwrights make a limited-use schematic (3-10 or so) of a great RE'd part. What do you think of that?

By the way, this forum isn't really in my jurisdiction (though I do try to read everything in it), so as long as the issue is pilot-related, I generally have more time to devote to posts in the pilot forum.

we thank you for tying to read everything about pilots. To me this is what makes a good correspondent. You have to have the plus of the people your trying to help. Even though soe doesnt do such a good job at. The past games i played that they where in control of where pretty good until they started mucking up things. Dang it i went of on another tanggent. I hope soe has a hummor about his they didnt last time.

Just in terms of mechanics, the tier 5s drop far more level 10 loot than other types of ships, but their loot drop rate is low and they're harder to kill, resulting in a relatively small quantity of loot for the time spent killing them. So it's not so much they don't drop good loot as they don't drop much of it, making the good stuff all the rarer. Tier 5s are definitely what you want to be killing if you're looking for level 10 gear, though.

As for the preponderance of boosters and armor, two of the most useless looted components around.. well, I can't really say. It's probably intentional, a way to keep loot amounts higher (and thus keeping your bankroll up as well) without overinflating the amount of level 10 engines and weapons and such dropping. However, with a low loot rate and what, 8 categories of components to divide your drops between, it isn't that surprising that it takes so long to find quality stuff.

Not to say the system is ideal, by any means, just trying to break down why higher levels of loot--particularly the uber stuff--can take so long to find.

You mean take several months? The only level appropriate loot I can find is capacitors; even they are somewhat lacking. If the devs care more about the value of the loot than they care about the crafters and pilots, I think it's time for a shipwright strike!!!!!

I have to concur with JAt on the loot drop rates. Up until I dropped Imp pilot for Freelancer last week I had little trouble finding ok loot of all levels running the Teir 4 Black Epsilon duty missions out on Dantooin against the Velocity pirates.

It wasn't until I ran my first couple of post-Ace duty missions for Freelancer the other night that I realized how good I had it back in Black Epsilon. It's startling how much fewer bad guys are thrown at you on these Black Sun or Smuggler missions. I think the credit chip at the end couldn't have been much higher then 50k. Well, against the Velocities it was minimum 125k each time. Instead of 4 waves between Aces it was cut in half to two. And I have to travel to Theed, then the palace, then back to Endor to start another duty mission. With Epsilon it was just down to Dant Imp outpost, up to fight, and back down again.

I could count on at least 35 loot items, usually closer to 45 by the end of a Velocity pirate mission. Perhaps guns started dropping less frequently lately, but it was only about 3 weeks ago that I looted three level 10 blasters on one duty missiono_O In the last 2 weeks prior to dropping Imp pilot I would say I was getting one level 10 gun every 2 duty missions, 3 duties at the worst. Sprinkled with plenty of 9's, 8's and so forth of every type.

It HAS been a while since I've seen a 38 recharge level 2 capacitor. And I haven't been able to find another 15.xx or higher recharge level 8 shield since the first one I used in my RE of the reward shield. Hard to say if that's a loot nerf or just luck of the draw in the rare loot lottery.

Anyway, I'm going to fly a few more Black Sun duties (easier then the smuggler ones and their damn Aggressors lol), and see how things are before dropping for another pilot badge. But there's no question that pound for pound, hour for hour spent in space I was better off flying the Velocity duty mission. Oh well, I planned on finishing my pilot careers as an Imp anyway. So i'll get back to doing them eventually.
