I seem to get a lot of encumberance slices too.. but I can't complain because that's what my clients usually want... and it's random enough that I don't think it's buggy or anything. Try flipping a coin a bunch of times and see how many time it lands on heads or tails in a row.. sometimes it surprises you.

I know, I've read enough of these boards in the last few weeks to know better than to do this. But I made master tailor a few days ago (whoo hoo! My first master ever). I was so excited I bought a med sized Naboo home. Put down a bunch of factories and started producing. My items are selling well on bazaar. See, I like to take my lower lvl BE tissues and give some clothing a +6 camo enhance and sell it on bazaar, I'll do that with a ton of lower lvl tissues and sell them for 6k each on clothing items on bazaar. My main intent was to drive up foot traffic to see my store. I also tell everything that I'll do custom orders if they send me a holomail listing all that they want. But today...for the first time...I actually had to take my title off. I can't keep up with the slew of tells I'm getting...hi, r u there? My gf wants a nice outfit now. Can you do it now?. Or, Hello, nice to meet you! I'm so glad I found a new tailor!And I swear, most of these custom orders customers are starting to drive me insane!
They just don't understand that I have to have those holomails I asked for, or their order will get lost in tells and I will forget among the dozen or so other orders I got that hour that I decided to leave my title up and go to Corellia for supplies. And really, I'm getting my shop so full of stuff I'm running out of room. I want them to peruse what I have, see something, and then buy it! Or at least look at it and send me a mail with modifications to color and such if they could be made.
Sorry I'm going on and on, but they are started to make me feel inundated if I go out with my title on. How do I encourage them to come to my shop more and look around? Seriously, it's very well stocked with all sorts of clothing items from BE, regular, entertainer, men, and now architectural items are being added.
I guess my question is, how did some of you successful Master Tailors get good foot traffc into their stores?

For me it's mostly word-of-mouth that does the trick. People encountering a well-stocked vendor and of course the fact that I'm never online when most of my customer base is (I live in Europe :smileyhappy
One of the first tips a master tailor on my server gave me..never travel around with your tailor tag up and be sure to set your character on anonymous. Otherwise you'll be flooded with tells.
I finally seem to have trained my guildies not to send tells but to send me a mail with what they want. What are other tailors' experiences with this?

One thing I have been doing as of late (I read this in a previous thread, thanks to whoever posted it, sorry I can't remember but morning coffee hasn't unfrozen brain yet
) is to respond to tells with an email. Explain to them where your shop is, that you have a wide selection in stock, and if they would like help picking something out, or need a custom job, please email back. I also always include the waypoint to my shop. This doesn't always help, but most people will respond back right away and tell you what they need.

I've been a Master Tailor for about six months and love every aspect of it. I did learn a few tips right away after I mastered. That is, never have your tag on and set yourself to non-searchable (as Brendanna said) or you will be completely overwhelmed with tells and questions or else you'll never have time to craft. 
The key to getting people in to your shop is word of mouth, but it's also advertizing. Add a little blurb about your store and the WP in the auction description and send thank you's to every one who purchases from you on the bazaar. Make sure your vendors are stocked with a good variety of clothing and don't move your location until you've established a good customer base.
Another thing I tend to do is put up my AFK message when I'm crafting that tells people that I'm busy making clothes or doing an Image Design job, gives the WP to the store and also asks that they email any questions/orders/inquiries to me instead of sending tells.
Be courteous, thankful and reward return or large purchase customers with a discount or something free. You'll have a great customer base in no time!

What I've done was sent myself an email with a note thanking the teller for their inquiry. I also include the waypoint to my vendor, letting them know that if what they want isn't on the vendor, to please email me a custom order. Then, when I get a tell, I open the email and forward my note to the person. This has worked very well for me.
