For offering my services for free? No thank you. I don't have set prices, but I will NOT work for free, period. For all the reasons I listed above. Weaponsmiths don't do it. Doctors don't do it. Why should entertainers?

Weaponsmiths and Docs both have to pay money to do what they do, or spend loads of time longer just to do it for free. Either way they do more work for what to me is far less fun.
I work for tips too Sobekeus.
Regarding your point to weaponsmiths and docs.I know weaponsmiths and docs ingame that wouldn't find image designing fun at all. They do love their profession though. And they charge nice sums for the weapons and buffs they make. It might be less fun in your eyes, but it's not in theirs. They love their profession aswell, does that mean they have to sell their weapons and buffs at a costprice? no, they can make a profit. At least that's how i see it.
My hairdresser in real life has been a friend of mine since childhood, the same goes for my dentist. My hairdresser doesn't really use anything other then water, shampoo and scissors sometimes when he cuts my hair, yet i do pay him (yes, i have a male hairdresser who's married and has a kid.. not too many of those running around
-well not here anyway - he was the only man in a class full of girls in secondary school - he loved it
). I don't think we would be friends for very long if i refused to pay him. I love going to him, as we have fun each time.
I know swg is just a game and can't really be compared to real life. And in such, i don't really have the desire to make an enourmous amount of money in game. But i do like to get tipped for my work, and appreciated too.
There are benefits to having set prices and benefits to not having them. Personnally i don't have fixed prices either. I work on a tip basis. i tell them to pay me what my services are worth to them. Sometimes i get 10K, sometimes 100K, sometimes more, sometimes less. Some customers seem to prefer having a set price list though as they are uncertain as to what to pay.
Anyway the point i'm getting at is : I do believe image design sessions should be payed. We indeed do not use resources, however we do use the one thing in game that actually means something: we give other players our time and full attention. And i love image designing just as much as the rest of us do. It's because i love it that i like to get tipped for my work.
