I know of one in particular where the guy opened his FSCS so he told At-AT his 4 holo proffessions, and asked him which proffession opened his slot.

At-AT guessed, and was right. Might have been luck, might not have been luck.

Why do all of you hate holotainers, even the ones who are at the keyboard? Whenever i see a post that says "holocron told me, can i have a macro becuase i cannot remember to hit flourishes?" it IMMEDIATELY gets one-stared and flamed. You people whine about everything you possibly can! Afks! Exp! Holos! "sluts"! even that you have no purpose in combat! i know all of you arent whiners, but those who do are really bringing your proffesion down...sorry for getting sidetracked...but anyways..

why do you hate holotainers?

go ahead communists, one star me

I don't have anything at all against holotainers who are actually at the keyboard. In fact, I rather sympathize with them. They're only in the profession becauseSOE told them their otherchoice was to"never be a jedi." Becoming a jedi isn't a goal for me, but I can understand that achievers need something to achieve; jedi are the ultimate badge of achievement.

I don't have a problem with combat. I don't have a problem with death or decay. I don't have a problem with the "fun factor" of the dancing code. My only problem is with unattended gameplay. It's the reason I left AC1, and it is ultimately the reason I'll leave SWG. The reason for this has been well documented ad nauseum on all of the entertainer forums.

With regard to our profession's hate of holotainers in general, I haven't noticed this. While some very heated comments do show up regularlyabout afking, I've seen very few attacks on people who are actually at the keyboard, holotainer or otherwise. If someone did direct a nasty remark at someone else for being a holotainer, odds are that they assumed (correctly or incorrectly) that the holotainer was an afker. If this was not the case and the person or people in question were just making slanderous remarks, then they're no better than a pvperwho calls anon-pvper "carebear" or a bounty hunter who calls all entertainers "useless."

All forums, all professions, all groups of any type have their bad seeds. We're pretty fortunate in the entertainment forums, because we seem to have very few of those bad seeds, and even the worst seem to be able to discuss things rationally from time to time. If you ran into a harsh critic who despises you simply for being you, then you have my sympathies. Then again, it's a problem most entertainers run into on the discussion forum every day; for every post that is in favor of live entertainers, there are10 responses that call us inbred retards who should have our professions yanked from the game (not an exaggeration). You'll have to excuse us if we're a bit clique-ish occasionally.

The same 'hatred' you see here is present on most profession boards when the holoposters go there and say 'This profession is the stupidest possible, give me macros/cheats/blah-de-blah so I can get out of this crappy profession as soon as possible, you people who do this are all stupid and useless'. What do you expect when one comes here, insults the profession and those who play it? Maybe if they didn't come here with such hostility in the first place? Maybe if they took TEN SECONDS to scan the titles of the stickied posts and read the applicable ones before making a new thread whining about how much dancing sucks and please spoon feed me a macro for this lame profession?

Personally I have no problems with at keys holotainers. I've no real problems with holotainers at all, except when they come here and figuratively crap on the profession. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I see no reason to treat someone with courtesy if they show none in the first place.

You'll find that most of us really have no problem with the entertainers who are following the holocron path. Many of us sympathize with them. Heck, I'd personally hate to have to craft. But my holo said Bio Engineer. And I might pursue it, as long as I don't have to drop my dancer title (If I have to bounty hunt, then I'm not. It's not worth it to me )

We do not have a problem with "Hey, I have a question and the search didn't help me out...." or "I read the sticky but....." This means that there was some effort on the questioner's part.

The problem, as some others have stated,

  1. is being expected to answer the same questions over... and over... because someone didn't glance at the Sticky, or use the search feature.

  2. Being told that our profession sucks and we are losers and then being ordered to give them a macro. When, again, there is a sticky and the rude post is unecessary.

  3. The AFK. The evil word that starts wild fires that would turn all of South America into Ash. The AFK causes clutter in the places where people like to play, spams the world with annoying little messages repeatedly, and gives the rest of the game a bad outlook on our profession.

When someone has apparently made an effort to look up their answer, and/or read the sticky and has an honest question then I have not seen this forum get on their case. No one likes to be treated like dirt then expected to 'serve'. From what I've seen, we are really friendly.

Every forum has the people who show up and start isulting this profession. No onle likes to be insulted.

I too sympathize with the holotainers, and am actually thinking of putting a lot of my own money into starting a dance academy on my server for those who want to grind out dance quickly and efficiently. Its not their fault that SOE made the holocrons the way that it did. I especially sympathize with those dancers who really like to dance, but had to quit dancing to follow the holocron's instructions. In fact, one of the reasons this game has gone down in quality is that we have everybody who hates dancing doing all the dancing, while those who love dancing are prevented from doing the dancing. This causes a lot of biterness on this board, and not all of it is warranted.

Any time anyone raises any legitimate concerns about anything, there is an effort to triviialize them as "haters."

Much of the so-called hate exists in the minds of those who are constantly complaining about "haters."
