Hey here was an idea to add to ranger. Well not really add to ranger but make a new field off ranger. make a field for after master ranger for combat for rangers. The field would have rifle, bows, crossbows, knife. Give each tree the right amount of skill to use them for combat. This would give rangers a chance to be more then just a riflemen, pistoler, tk ect this would mean that we dont have to go in to those fields and can stick 100% to the scout area of the what rangers are. Once they fix the bugs and proms with ranger so that ranger is a bit more then just uber scout and add the extra field in would make us much better hunters in the field. Have skills that go with rifle like headshots where we have a chance to 1 shot a rancor. Use bows to wound are targets. Just an idea for something to help rangers out...

It is a nice thought. Instead of adding another skill tree, have them implemented into the current one. Figure a way to put that in there, then we wouldn't need more skill points to justify something we need. And if I remember correctly the Outdoorsman proposal had something in there, maybe I should read it again.

Well i know just we know we are never going to get any love at all so why not just toss random ideas out there for them to blow off like everything eles.

i'll tell you why not just throw random ideas...because we ARE going to get some love. It's like a booty call. It's later than you really wanted the love, it may not be exactly what you were hoping for, and it sure as heck isn't going to be as good as you wanted, but you're damn grateful for it anyway.
Random ideas that are just "forum fodder" (i mean NO offense here...i'm just assuming someone coming up with ideas that are utterly innane...your idea isn't.
I'm talking about ideas like, say, milk harvesting. that was a "fodder " idea. It doesn't really help us, and can hurt us because it makes the devs think they've given us something, so they don't have to listen to us for a while.
I say the best course of action is to do what we do: come up with and discuss new idea, and sticky the best ones to the top.
That being said, new ideas are always welcome, but we shouldn't just flood the forums with innane ideas. I.E. I'm not going to propose that we be able to give ourselves haircuts that are "high and tights". Well, real life RAngers all have a distinctive haircut. why shoudn't we be able to cut our own hair to look like theirs?
that sort of thing is just GOLD for a dev looking for an easy way to give us a crappy skill that won't be used and will keep us quiet for a little while...

Actually, Rangers make up less than Jedi (or so I've heard). We are becoming more rare by the month. I agree, that doesn't mean they should ignore us or continue to push us behind new ideas. but...complaining about things we have NO idea about (such as the future, and SOE people leaving) doesn't help. I've made a lot of suggestions in my day, and, like you say, a LOT of them could be coded quickly. But that would assume that the devs were listening to me only. There are thousands of people making suggestions, poser. They can't possibly implement them all. I'm sure the majority of the time isn't neccesarily coding, but rather deciding which ideas are not only do-able, but are smart, inventive and fresh.
Like I've said, I've made many suggestions. and yeah, I would like to see all of them implemented (Except for some notoriously BAD ideas i came up with when I was a noob). But a lot of people didn't like them. That's why we have a development team: to work through the bad ideas. If you come up with a million bad ideas, you'll get zero of them into SOE (hopefully). Come up with one good one and it might get in. So again, it's not laziness. It's a smart, systematic way of weeding out bad ideas. People can yell and cry about the devs all day, but in the end, you're playing their game. I have a good time playing this game. A few little tweaks would make it a whole lot better, sure. But in a game where you have to take into account the opinions and desires of thousands of strangers, a few little tweaks can take a whole lot of time.

Nice job phenix...
while its frustrating not to get what we want/ deserve.. this is still the best way to change the profession for the better.

Yes i know that and i could care less if they added any idea i say. But after almsot 12 months of play and seeing so many bugs and things that dont work in the game just one thing pistolers 10-12 moves are broke and they are no were near fixing them. They add more content then fix bugs. Also there were more master rangers then jedi but as nothing in rangers really works people droped it and dont care to go back up it. Tracking works 50% of the time if u get lucky and have people in the area to spawn things up other wise u might get lucky and find something spawn. Traps really do no good hunting. A master scout with food and a droid can harvest more then a master ranger. Conceal does not work at all on animals or npcs for that matter. Now u dont need camps as u can call things on there own so u dont need a ranger in a group any more.
Every time u ask a dev anything they give u double talk. Just look at e3 one dev said they wait to add more skill points an other side they dont want to and one other siad that all the devs have there own idea for the sp and they are working on a system. Things like this have been going on since the start of the game. I really dont think the devs know what they want to do so they give the answer that is getting looked at for the combat revamp, or that is not how we see a field being. What is it the outdoorsmen thing was sent in and i'm sure that just got looked over and tossed out as it would mean they have to code things that they dont want to do now. I like the idea of ranger and what it could be if they just fixed tiny things like makea master ranger harvest alot more then a master scout and no way should a master scout get a bounse with a droid. Things like this just make it harder to bea ranger as people with less skill points can harvest more then a master with alot more skill points. Plus there are alot of idea tossed out with alot of people that want it in the game go to the gcw board people want to see rank shown what is it up to 7000 people or something that have posted they want it, i think that they even baned one post as it had some many people on it that wanted it.

I think the Jedi also shouldn't be walking around with lightsabers drawn all the time, and they shouldn't have the title of "jedi". This would make them much more invisible, and would make BH's more usefull as they would be the only ones that could flag a jedi.
Also, just to keep jedi from always having their sabers drawn, there should be some like 100k reward for any player who contributes in bringing down a jedi and as soon as a Jedi draws a saber he is attackable by any Imperial or Neutral player (unless he's a dark jedi, in which case attackable by Reb or Neutral) The higher the rank of the jedi, the more the reward.
In the Star Wars Universe at this point in time, Jedi were HIDING not flaunting their lightsabers everywhere, they were disguised, and, since the beginning of the Jedi order, lightsabers had ALWAYS been a LAST RESORT. Much unlike they are now. Jedi should be forced to explore every alternative before making the fatal draw of a saber. For once their saber is drawn, there is no turning back.
Just an Idea, any intellegent input would be much appreciated

Its pretty hard to come up with an intelligent non-flaming response to a non-intelligent post but here goes:
First off put yourself in the Jedi shoes and realise why they carry around a saber - OMG could it becuase of the way the game is coded in that they can only block attacks with a saber? Forgive me but Im not getting caught with my pants down by anybody therefore I will have my saber equipped everywhere I go.
Secondly how many Overt members do you see at the starports without weapons drawn and armor worn? Hmm I would say damn near none and thats the same with Jedi if you make us wear robes and force us to use a saber for defense then guess what we will be wearing robes with sabers in hand.

K, I've been misunderstood. Either I typed it wrong in the first place (which is very likely cuz I was in a hurry) or it was read wrong. What I meant was that Jedi go around with a different proffesion as title (ie pistoleer) and if they choose, carry a pistol around with them, but when attacked, the Jedi has the choice of immediatly drawing their lightsaber. Since they can sense danger through the force, the combat turn would be slowed down thus allowing the jedi to block even the first move. Besides, Jedi would only ever be caught like that by a BH since BH's would be the only one's capable of finding them.
And by the way, I don't think the post was THAT bad, so gimme a break and critique my post on ALL it's points next time, not just 1 point that you happened to disagree with, ok. Thanks.

I prefer to not see jedi with sabre equipped too, but is really necessary to survive
i don't walk around with my white pijama (padawan robe), nor with a jedi title on my head...
i also used to not wield sabre until i almost died cause a bh ambush... so i changed my mind and now i have always my sabre with me
it could be nice if, instead of meking us keeping it in hand they keekpt it hidden or placed on the side so that dusters and cloaks can hide it but is not like that...
i really hope they will not put armor in the pijama or i will have to wear it too during fights

Interesting idea, but not really feasable from a "client-server code" point of view.
First, what if the jedi wasn't attacked by a ranged attack? They might not want to pull their sabre - they might want to keep the pistol and kite whatever melee attacked them.
So now you have to start adding all sorts of extra code to give the jedi a choice of what action to take if attacked - in addition to the extra code to "slow down the original attack".
I can already see half a dozen problems like this that would have to be dealt with, and none of them with easy answers.
