Amazing, I'm getting pretty much the same thing.
1.5gig of Ram
Asus A7N8X Mobo
AMD 2800 processor
DX 9.0c
For me, it's not so much the guys jumping around as it is not being able to do damage on them. I'm fine for a minute or so, but then, all of a sudden, my shots will quit having an effect. I still see the shield fluxing after a hit, so I know I'm hitting the target... but no damage is registered. What's worse, it still drains my cap and they CAN hit me. This has made my current mission all but impossible because I have to face 3 waves of 3 Tier 3 fighers. If I can't get the first wave delt with in time, the second wave comes in, and then the third. IF this problem wasn't here I could do it pretty easy, but since I can't dispatch the first wave, due to this bug... I always get slaughtered.
Once I notice the shots not doing any damage I just have to evade for a bit, then, magically, they start doing damage again for around 30 seconds. I have to try very hard to make every hit count during that time because it doesn't last.
Being logged in for hours, or being AFK for a bit doesn't help at all. Opening a browser window doesn't help. I have no firewall enabled, and I'm on a Cable Modem with very few people sharing the pipe. Lag in the ground game is all but nonexistant for me... as it is in all the other games I play.
I love JTL... I think it's very fun and I really enjoy playing it, but this bug is killing me. It makes me want to return it because it takes all the fun out of blowing stuff up.

So far the only thing i've done that gets it to work(i've tried disconnecting reconnecting logging out logging in, no effect) is to go all the way out of swg, do a full scan and go all the way back in, usually works 2/5 times, and can take a long time to do. It's extremely annoying. I would wish that thunderheart or our favorite tiggs would at least acknowledge the post or comment or something. Even though its only 3 pages and because of that they probably don't consider it a high priortity theres about 5 people in my guild of 150 who can't play at all no matter what they do because of this and 2 others who go through the same 1 hour cycle of logging in logging out everytime they get on just to get the lag to a point where we can actually do something....a WHOLE HOUR!

Logging in and out cycle? How do you know when you "nipped" the problem?
Anything to fix this, it really makes the game almost unplayable.

Oh, yeah. Please, no more diagnostic readouts in here, PMthem to whoever you want to show, or do it in a thread specifically for them, they're a pain to scrollthrough.

I've had this problem since day one of my JtL install. Oct 29th. I have an AMD Athlon 3000+, 512MB RAM, and GeForce 5600. I connect with 56K dial-up and I can't shoot anything except the freighter, because they basically stay in one place. It's so annyoning that I can't do combat in space. I have to drop all my ground combat skills to do Shipwright and I want to be able to do combat every once in a while, but can't because all the targets jump around. I'm getting really upset. And why isn't there a specific option in the bug reporting system for JtL related items?
Nov 2, 2004. I did a full scan before I played last night 2-3 times, and guess what? No jumping targets. I was able to blast Tie's right out of the galaxy

I apologize if this has already been mentioned, I didn't want to read thru all theposts.
My Roomate is having the same issue, but on my screen I seehis "Drunken Bee" target as being perfectly normal and my Roomates ship is the one that is acting like a "Drunken bee". From his perspective he would think that it is the target that is acting wierd and not him.
Don't know if it means anything but figured I would mention it.

OMG! I must say to read this post was like a religious awakening for me! I really started to believe I was to stupid to hit! All my numerous guildmates play in space for days now, while I can't get the first Freelancer Mission done. This warping makes it totally impossible to do damage. I hit some time, despite their warping, but I don't do damage. Only wih great luck, but as someone posted, ALWAYS time runs out. I restarted often, but that did nothing. I played that first mission now 12-15 times, I was in space 8-10 hours, all for nothing.
Though I live in Europe I play on an US server (Starsider), cause I have many friends there. I tried a new character on en European server, but it dit the same. I am getting MAD over this. Please Devs look into this!
My Tech specs:
Athlon 2600
1GB ram
some Ati 128 MB
DSL connection (usually 150 Ping, 30 FPS, no package loss)
It remains no matter the graphic settings.
This is very frustrating as it sets us all behind our friends and guildmates.
At last I am NOT that bad. I really freaked thinking I was senile, when all my friends made it easily.

Well I played tonight and it worked flawlessly, and that'son a 56k modem. I was amazed. That proves one thing, the problem is intermittent on there end, not ours.
