The same thing is happening to me too. Warping around and whatnot. I have a ping of 56, no packet loss, 30 FPS, my game runs smooth otherwise. I have no idea why this is happening. Weird thing is, it was working for a few hours today, but yesterday and the last hour or so it hasnt been working... What the heck is going on?

Ok read up on this. I did several trace routes while running swg jtl in space and while not(wide open on the router no firewall) and i re-connected several times and get this. I noticed a few things.
1. When running jtl there was a 10-50% packet loss at times to any given website.
2. When not running jtl there were no packets lost.
3. After reconnecting jtl 3-4 times the lag got very minimal.
4. Leaving my char logged into space for about 45 minutes(afk) it eventually fixed the lag.
5. Once that lag is gone DO NOT LOG OUT, it never comes back. Had my jtl logged in for 18 hours straight..no lag.
It's possible the whole problem is very bad synchronization. You get out of sync with the server and thats what happens. It seems that MY outbound packets are the one's that are getting dropped more often then inbound. So it could very easilly be a client-side issue.

thanks god other people are experiencing this. I know its not graphics and my ping and fps are still fine but the enemy ships are literally all over the place and about 4% of my hits get registered. I may as well be spitting on them for the damage I'm doing.
I'm not new to FPS combat, in fact its what I play most so I know its not down to me. I'm not saying I am "uber-l33t" but I'm stuck on the first Storm Squad. mission

You mean restarting SWG, or landing, and relaunching to space?

The only things that stand out as common right now:
1gig ram
Athlon XP 2+gig
DirectX 9.0c
ASUS A7N8X motherboard.
Same here, same problem. It can't be because it's too crowded in space cause i'm playing on a european server (chimaera) and not much people have jtl there yet.
Also when I first got in beta I had this allot, but the closer we got to the end, the less I had this problem.

Comes and goes here too. I turn my T&L and AA off and has been fine since. Crossing my finers.

I know exactly what you mean, I was repeatedly /bug logging and posting about it in the forums during beta. I haven't really been experiencing it in live so far, but knowing my luck now that I have posted that it will probably all break for me when I next play

For the person with only 512MB of ram, get a gig, it makes a big difference in JTL, I have one machine with 512 and another with 1gig, I can't even play jtl on the 512 machine, it's too skittish. For you fellstaff, try lowering your page file, with a gig of ram, you don't really want close to a 2 gig page file, try that and see if it helps.
memory isn't the issue with this bug....this is not a paging issue, its straight up network code or some bizarre bug thats causing the client to miscalculate where other ships are, and it only occurs with processors with serial numbers ending with the number 42

You know, you don't know how right you may have been with that statement, from reading the other post when people are comparing their systems, the list of things was basically an amd processor, a gig of ram and direct x 9. Well I have directx 9 and a gig of ram and have never had the problem, so i'd say it's the amd processor. They are known to have problematic math coproccessors, hence why they are cheaper than intels. Perhaps that's where the problem lies.

Havingthe sameproblem here. It has become frustrating to the point where I want to quit all together and play frisbee with the JTL CD. At first I thought it was because I am on a 56k modem. However there are moments when its fine and others with broadband are experiencing the same problem. So I dont know. Posting my stats below. Keep the feedback comming, maybe we can get the Dev's attention.
Win XP home (Service Pack 2)
Celeron 2.6GHz
1 Gig ram
Radeon 9600 XT
DirectX 9.0c
56k Modem

This is to be expected. Lots of information is passing back and forth and they are using UDP packets. A trace route only pings the site which has a low priority. None the less, there might be something wrong with your connection (maybe it is running at a lower bandwidth then it should be) as if you have lots of bandwidth, there should be lots of room for ICMP.

I found a fix that works for me, try a full scan if they're warping, and if that doesn't work, I guess you could try some of the other suggestions listed here.
