I group 80% my time with either my guild or allied guilds to do PvE/PvP/SF/combatant base takedowns. These ppl know me pretty well and usually Im the one who organiced the call and I naturally become the leader of the whole pack. Usually 10 to 15 ppl.
When I just group for random PvP in larger groups, I try to gather all ranged or "regular" classes in my group and some support like Docs or CMedics too. Only Jedi in try to have in my group are usually my guild jedi since those are easier to handle. They know me and how I play so its easier to keep such a group together.
I rarely have to search for a group since I get a lot of /tells regarding quests/hunting/base takedowns/just random PvP which as high council I forward to the whole guild as well allied guilds.
If Im looking to group I usually use guildemail or guildchat, though our "guildchat" is currently an open chat channel where a lot of allied guilds as well un guilded friends tend to hang out. Our real guildchat is pretty dead because of this.
Our guild is about 40ppl from new zeeland to the US so I include times and dates for CET, GMT, EST and PST timezones. Depending on the cause I ll also forward this to allied guilds and ask them to forward this to their guild to gather more ppl.

A good mix of people really...
I often play quite late at night when my guildies are asleep, in those cases I never seem to struggle to find groups though. Otherwise yes, generally my guild or allied guilds.

Here's a quick history of my toon on guild management.
In Guild then left guild to join another, then left guild to try and revitalize old guild after the CU, disbanded guild after I was the only guildie playing and joined another guild. I have let the guild 2 that I joined and left know that they are always welcomed to call me since I don't believe either of them (they split forming Rebel and Imperial) have a MSL in their ranks. What another thing that I feel has unfortunatly brought my spirits down is that of rping. So maybe when it's slow (later at night), I can do the rp thing, which is on pause actually due to rp reasons. I can team up with that old guild and do...stuff with them since It is my first "family" in game. My first guild (the one I joined when I started playing and the one I tried revitalizing) a lot of them have gone on to other games such as WoW (played it for a week straight, came back to SWG) was more friends, that second guild I consider a "family" for me.
Anyways, hopefully this new guild and the old guild give me a shout when something is needed and this one guy who wants to hunt (which is fine, but not when it's only two people both at cl80) will stop pestering me or get more than just one other person besides him.
