Well, there's already a system in place to put "special" targets up on your HUD (like mission targets being bracketed in white), so I think that could work. You wouldn't someone to lose their target lock in the middle of a firefight because the leader said "Target that explosion and fire!" or something.
As far as callsigns go, I think it'd be cool for people to have a callsign that belongs to their character, not their ship. My ship is called Orcrist (or Glamdring if I'm in my Kimo), but I'd love to have a "callsign" or "handle".

I've got to say that this is one of the best ideas for JTL that I have seen. Why nobody came up with this in beta is just a glaring oversight by all. But thats just my 2 cents.

Sounds interesting, I especially like the sound of Squadron Missions, that would be very cool I think.

my guild is already doing that in the RP perspective. We've named ourself green squadron, colored all our ships that color, and have named our ships greenleader, green 1, green 2, etc in the order we all got master. pretty cool and fun if you ask me.
