kinetic rifle = rifle that fires solid slugs

Don't see what's so contradictory there. Unfortunately, there isn't a kinetic rifle. The Tusken Rifle used to be, but is no longer. Guess the devs figured we shouldn't be doing every form of damage but lightsaber, so they changed it to energy.

thanks. i didn't realise that meant Kinetic. Learn something new everyday

Kinetic damage would be damage from the transfer of kinetic energy. In other words, damagethat occurs when energy is transferred as the result of one thingrunning into another. So getting punched in the face, falling down and hitting the floor, or being hit by a fast moving object would all create kinetic damage. That is whya kinetic rifle would be one that fires bullets or some other form of solid projectile. That is also why all melee professions do mostly kinetic damage. They are all hitting you with something.

Because melee professions have, by their very nature, so few damage types, the devs have decided that kinetic damage is the domain of the melee fighter. The one noteable exception is the Striker pistol. This does kinetic damage. But since it does low damage and requires pistol certs to use (pistol being the ranged class closest to melee range), I guess they figure an exception is warranted. So while all other Star Wars data indicates that the Tusken rifle, like RL rifles, fires a bullet, in this game, it does energy damage. But that is okay. Even the Nym's Slugthrower (a carbine) does acid damage.

There is one other exception to mention. The "Tusken King Rifle," a rare loot drop, does apparently do kinetic damage, but not even riflemen have a certification to use it, so due to the drastically reduced damage from having no cert, the rifle is useful for little more than a show piece.

This board is usually pretty civil. And any time you see Sotudi posting here you can expect a great and detailed answer.

Actually the Tusken King Rifle isnt a loot drop its a quest piece you get while doing the quest for the krayt skull. You give the rifle to the guy who after a few missions gives you something from the last thing the rifle was used to kill... the Krayt Skull. Unfortunately there is no way to keep the rifle and get the Polished Krayt Skull.

be careful with this creature. it may be one of the outlawed pre-patch BE pets that are lvl 0(1). they are full grown unknown lvl creatures that are considered an exploit. if you decide to use this for anything other than a decoration don't pull it out in a populated area. the DEV's like to snatch them from people.

pretty much. but if it is what i said it was, you can use it at novice. and when you get the ability to call 2 pets at once you can use it for better mission levels. you can pull out a creature equal to your max CL and this pet and it makes your group larger and more capable, allowing you to get better missions.
