Thread: Friday Feature June 25 – Veteran Reward Ship

Here is my thing on it TH.

I've been playing this game since roughly the first week of live.

I have my oldest character who I put alot of time into, including all of my experiences and growing pains. Here and there I stopped playing SWG, always to come back.

But recently, I have joined a group of players on Wanderhome that are against alot of the current decadence of the game. We pretty much shun stuff like secondary stat buffs and uber acklay krayt weapons and stuff like that. Anything unbalancing. All of our work goes to the betterment of our own little community, because the game at large is filled with billionaires and Jedi and Uber Comp/Buffed/Drunk/Well Fed butt-whoopers, and we'd prefer a more laid back game experience.

When the one year painting reward came out, I missed out on it because my character was not older than 30 days. "Oh, well," I thought, "Noble Sacrifice." But after my year of gameplay, I don't want to be left with no veteran ship because I've made a gameplay decision late in my SWG career.

So my thought on the matter is this -

One Ship per account, accessed through an NPC in game. It will simply have to ask for Account Info to hand out the ship, and then no more per account.

OR

One ship per character on any ACCOUNT that is six months or older.

Basically, I'm asking that the reward timer be based on Account Activity, and not character lifespan. Don't let players feel jipped because they made a decision to change characters/servers late in their SWG life.

I just wanted to stop in and post on a subject that drew a lot of attention. Many of you were concerned that because of the gamecards or having your account deactivated due to a surprise "NSF" with your bank, that it would cause your accounts to be somehow rendered "null and void" and you wouldn't get the Veteran's Space Ship.

We have accounted for these problems and you shouldn't have any problems

Based on the fact that the devs are defining a veteran as someone who has subscribed for a 6 month period, it sounds to me that it would be based on account life and not character life. I.e if you have paid SOE $14.95 for 6 consecutive months (or the 1 payment of $90)you get the ship.

It is undecided at this point...

I might have to choose which server I want the ship on just because I choose to develope more than 1 char? How about a possibility of somewhere in the middle. I don't really care if my few chars with 1 hour of playtime doesn't get a ship. They can't be traded and I will never go on those chars. Maybe like you had to master 1 profession, or 100 hours of game time.

Well hopefully you'll let us know ahead of time, since if it is going to be the 'oldest character' I want to delete the characters I setup on other servers prior to starting my main character (due toheavy server traffic causing my primary server to be 'full' when I registered my copy of SWG initially). I haven't logged into those initial characters in more than 8 months, and I wouldn't want one of them to get the veteran reward, while my main character received nothing.

Just my thoughts, do with them what you will.

It would be very disappointing if that was the case. Even though I have currently cancelled, I have some time left to reconsider - but one of my characters is a few hours older than the one I have been really playing for a year (both were created on day one). If only 1 of your created characters over 6 months can get one - then make it so that we get to choose which one we want to get the ship. I dont want my novice brawler that I played for 30 minutes to get a luxury yacht.

wait..doest this mean... 6 months total now? becasue...thast what it sounds like...because... if its NOT consec, then it would be 1 per account, not per6 month char, or is it, only accounts with 6month + avatars and whatnot

WOW. I already liked JTL as a whole, and am very surprised at the generous award; very nice guys. But I too agree that 6 months is a but short- I mean,Ive been playing since the second day afterrelease (and so have a lot of others) and I think it doesnt make us stand out all that much. I hope I don't soundungrateful because that is not my intent, but I do think that the"veteran" status should be a little harderto achieve *or* people playing for say, 11 or 12months, should be entitled to an additional award.

Once againTHANK YOU; I am just a bit confused.

Hmmm, seems I'm not the only one who disagrees with the 6-month consecutive-until-JTLbit... I played for 10 months (Was trying to log in 2nd day after release) but had to quit for 3 months due to money problems (We can't all be earning the big bucks, I'm a student for crying out loud!) I know the Devs aren't behind this decision (unfortunately, they're the ones on the front line when dealing with the inevitable flack over ANY decision that is made, theirs or otherwise), but the subscription department really needs to rethink their decision to leave those players who are, in many cases, on a tight budget out in the cold when the space expansion finally comes out. I love Star Wars. I love Star Wars Galaxies, despite it's problems.I've ALWAYS wanted that ship, PLY3000, since the second I saw it in the Essential Guide when I was a kid! To hear that the subscription department left many of us out in the cold over simple semantics is quite questionable indeed. Devs, PLEASE talk to them about this! This has obviously been a SERIOUS point of contention for many people, as I'm sure you guys have seen over the last 20-something pages of this topic. I ask, as the voice of reason and compassion, that you petition for a change of this line of the stipulation for the reward. I believe this warrants such an action. I'm glad to see that you guys fought for the Game Card peopleand technical difficulty-afflicted. Now, please, fight for us again, ALLthe vets, not just those who fit within the cookie-cutter definition of a veteran according to your subscription department.

To all the developers, if you even get toread this, remember the immortal words of King Henry V before theBattle of Agincourt inShakespeare's Henry V: "For he today who sheds his blood with me shall be my brother."

Well said, Will. Well said I might be a capitalist at heart, but sometimessomething need to be done because it's the RIGHT thing to do, and not because it fits in witha mission statement orsomesuch. This is one of those times. I know this message will probably (most likely) be lost in the whole shuffle of the boards, but hopefully my cry gets through...

-I believe it is in my best interests not to be held liable or accountable for the above statement, being that I was probably tired/ partially insane/ criminally insane when said flame/ smart-ass comment/ idiot rambling was uttered. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

If you agree with me, however, then disregard the previous disclaimer, of course...

People have a real problem reading things!

Star Wars Galaxies is pleased to announce the first veteran reward for longtime players! Veteran players are those players who have subscribed for at least 6 consecutive months. These players will receive the deed for the multi-passenger ship model SoroSuub Personal Luxury Yacht 3000 the day Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed launches. This starship model has been popularized in Star Wars fiction by Lando Calrissian's personal vessel, the Lady Luck. Non-veteran players will receive the reward once they become veteran players. Similar to the Special Edition goggles, this item will not be tradable.

don't I feel stupid now ...
