Last night, when i started Test Center Launchpad, there was a link on the top right information part, linking to a page about Space Mining.
As far as i could understand the information Space Mining IS going to be part i the new expansion.
There was decribed a mission based way to get a Cargo ship using mission in the Rotw expansion, or by having a high capacity ship and add a cargo hold and mining laser to it.
I couldnt figure out if it was limited to owners of the new expansion or could be done by anyone able to go into space.

Space mining produces resources that have only one stat, OQ, and will be need as supplemental resources to build things like those fancy, extra mass, ships we will be getting in RoW.
So if you are gonna be building that extra mass x-wing, like i am hoping to, I'll still need plenty of regular resources, but also some space resources.
So I don't think we are going to see a recession, if anything we're gonna see a small market surge. Every one is going to be scrambling for resources to upgrade to the heavy mass ships, as well as build those huge mining ships.

Hmm, the ability to space mine won't be out until RotW... but if you launch, and can see the mining asteroids, you could grab a few30K resource reward kit and get a headstart on the competition if you really wanted.

Some of the schematics using asteroid resources are there, but there's no mining laser or tractor schematic.

Just looked thru my schematics, and i noticed alot of need thing requiring space mined resources.
This Isnt available yet, it it?
thought it was coming out with RotW

I've noticed that the asteroid themselves are in space also, they appear as green dots on your space radar. Does anyone know yet if certain kinds of asteroid are system specific? Haven't had time to go look to see if only the rare ones spawn in Dathomir yet.

I saw those new asteroids floating out in space. Took a few pot-shots at them.

Well I went and looked. And I am not in Beta, all of this IS in live right now, so no worries about a NDA. If you go to each system, there have been waypoints provided in your datapad in each system to certain asteroids. It also appears that the different types of Asteroids are system specific. Here is the current listing by type and system:
Cyanomethanic Asteroid-Yavin IV-3 waypoints
Petrochem Asteroid-Yavin IV-2 waypoints
Acid Asteroid-Dantooine-2 waypoints
Methane Asteroid-Dantooine-2 waypoints
Crystal Asteroid-Dathomir-3 waypoints
Silicaceous Asteroid-Corellia/Talus -4 waypoints
Iron Asteroid-Corellia/Talus-1 waypoint
-Tatooine-5 waypoints
Ice Asteroid-Endor-3 waypoints
Obsidian Asteroid-Lok-3 waypoints
Organometallic Asteroid-Lok-2 waypoints
Sulfuric Asteroid-Naboo/Rori-3 waypoints
Carbonaceous Asteroid-Naboo/Rori-2 waypoints
Diamond Asteroid-no waypoints as of yet-But it is listed as a commodity that the new mining stations in each sector will buy.
In a way it's nice if these stay starsystem specific, but if the stats shift on them like regular resources, it will make them easy to be camped, so I hope they appear randomnly thoughout the system. And if you haven't checked space out recently, they've added new John Williams music!!

There were diamond asteroids floating around in kessel on Bloodfin.

Hi Everybody
With the RotW Expansion I was really looking forward to this new space mining thing. So when I saw the special astroids and stuff I assumed that the Expansion came with the CU. So I checked my hyperspace map and there was Kashyyk. I tried to go there but I get a message saying that the coordinates are unkown. Does anybody know how to get to Kashyyk to get the space mining gear and such?

This is like what they did with JtL. The features are there but inaccessable until the release date of RotW.

Np. I can't wait for all the new stuff. I've been flying around the asteroids just to see how much they defend it. I can say this: they do not want you to mine.
