Also, if your reb, he will ask you for a clearance code. Just choose "fake it", then he will allow you to land.

Shouldnt there be player created Space Stations. Kinda like citys but u land at them and explore the inside of them. Kinda kool to have vendors in it to.

The problem is that space wouldnt be fun if you ran into a space station everywhere you went. but having the space stations be somewhat like starports would rock

Probably not, because currentlyspace sectors are not big enough for player space stations to float around.

People want space stations. I am one of them. However, having guild-owned space stations seems a bit extreme. Perhaps the following is possible:
1. Create a small (instanced) map for inside a space station...one for each system. It doesn't need to be big...maybe a Storage Locker/room that worked like a bank terminal's item storage, only its on that space station...a Control Room/Briefing Room thing, which is like the pilot briefing room from Episode IV, Rogue Squadron, XWA, etc...a "Lounge" (Tavern), etc. Maybe a Starport terminal too, for doing maintainance on ships and such. In all, it'd only be the size of a medium house, roughly...perhaps with the same level of item storage (on top of the "storage lockers"). Players will be able to land, and leave their ships there. For the sake of arguement, we'll call this a "berth"...because I can't think of a better name.
2. Create a similar (although larger) map for the "main" part of the space station. It could have the Travel and Starship terminals from a Starport, a bazaar, bank terminals (for the local system bank), a larger cantina, an "infirmary" for medics to heal in, an insurance terminal, if not a full cloning center, etc. Also have a "turbolift", that provides access to the different "berths" on the station. You'd be able to travel to other planets and other stations by way of the Travel terminal, and you'd be able to land ships there, to allow you to fly to those same places. It'd be like a "Starport in the Sky", as it were. There could also be a few NPCs handing out space quests in the system.
3. Sell berths off to players. They'd have to cost a lot, but not occupy any "lots". There would automatically be a berth for each pilot faction with a trainer based in the planet below (ie. Rebel, and CorSec on Corellia; Rebel, Imperial and RSF on Naboo; I know there's a Rebel trainer on Lok, so there'd be a Rebel Berth on Lok Station...there are Imps on Talus, so there'd be an Imp one there...etc.)
Players could also "rent" a berth on a station, from the station owner. They should probably only be allowed one berth anywhere in the Galaxy, regardless of where it was as it'd probably have a zero lot count. They could choose who was allowed to enter, by setting up an Access list. Players could choose to affiliate that Berth with a guild (the guild would be allowed either 1 berth per system, or 1 berth for each planet it has a guild hall on, or something like that).
This would provide guilds (and factions) with access to a private facility, right beside an active starport, for them to plan missions, and heal up after them. However, as the "Lounge" would serve the same purpose as a tavern (ie. private medical and entertainer facility), the initial cost, and the maintainance would have to be quite high to reflect this.
** The "Turbolift", rather than a standard lift control, would have a console. The console would allow you to choose from the berths you have access to (in my case, it would be the Rebel one, the Guild one, and any berths my friends allowed me access to). It wouldn't take too long to load...perhaps there could be a "travelling in a lift" animation to pass the time?
Something like that shouldn't be too bandwidth hungry, I wouldn't have thought. The NPCs would allow people to land, grab missions, and leave again. If faction berths had an NPC in them, who handed out missions surplus to the ones on the ground, it might be easier, and less frustrating for people trying to level up who have to land at the Starport, wander all the way through Nym's Stronghold, get missions, come back, take off, and then if they fail the mission, repeat the proceedure over again. Those NPCs could hand out missions like escort ones, as well as a few "special assignments" against enemy faction things in the area.
The Guild berths would allow members of Squadron Guilds, Faction Guilds, and Roleplay Guilds to have a private "hanger", which they could use to plan their PvP, PvE, or whatever. It would also provide an extra (logical) starport on each planet, perhaps with instant shuttle times to the surface, and to other systems, meaning that people "passing through" the system wouldn't need to stop around in a city - they could go straight through.
The inside parts of the Station could be added, in patch form, to the ground game, allowing players who don't have (or don't want) JTL to get the feeling that they're travelling through space, rather than just going from planet to planet.
You could even remove the ability to land on a planet via shuttle, and adding a "free" (or very low price) shuttle trip down to the surface. That way, someone could take off from Corellia and fly to Naboo for most of the price (I think its about 750)...say 700 of it, and then pay the rest (50 or 25 or something, depending where they land) to shuttle down to the planet. Faction NPCs could also offer shuttle rides (for a little extra) down to the Stronghold cities on each planet, if there isn't already a starport service (ie. a shuttle run direct to Anchorhead...and possibly back up again - I think its unfair that on Tatooine and Naboo, the stronghold cities for Rebel and Imp respectively have no Starport).
I think thats pretty much my whole idea. I think it'd be fun, and with some work from the devs, it could help just that little bit more with immersing people in the Star Wars universe.
Re-posted in a suggestion thread somewhere...if I can find one. Lol

That's a pretty cool idea. It gets my vote. Any new and interesting content would we welcome. I know SOE is trying, but come on. I mean cybernetic arms? I know look had an artificial hand, but it looked normal. The ony issue that may exist is whether or not there were numerous space stations in the SW canon.
I had a similaridea about allowing players to live in cities. I think it would be neat if they created apartments for rent. In Coronet, for example, there are the huge sky scrapers. They could add elevators like they have in the med centers. Players could rent rooms and log out there instead of logging out in the starports like bums. They could force players to find a residence that way. The STs could do patrols in the cities and starports looking for vagrants. Players would not be allowed to drop items in therented rooms. Itwould be nice, but that would bog the server down I'm sure.

I have been wishing for space stations since JTL was annouced. I think it would be key to have them set up to so you could "rent" out shop space.
*looks over The Ferengi Rules of Acquisition*
lol... I always loved Quark ... and yes I know this is SWG and not Star Trek

My favorite one is (I think) Rule 172:
"Every once in a while, declare peace. It confuses the hell out of your enemies."
lol.. that is a good one.
I have so many favorites... think my top one is Rule 024-Latinum can't buy happiness, but you can sure have a blast renting it.
