Thread: Lack of pvp in deepspace or is it just no one wants to go there ?

I can agree to disagree, however I think after this "revelation" about your equipment, myself and everybody else can agree one one thing. You only stand to gain from PvP reduction, you will become harder to kill, while you still one shot everybody else. The "nobody becomes invincible" thread while may not becoming "invincible" you will become far stronger than an average light fighter, as a glancing blow, even with the reduction you want, will spell thier certain doom, where they have to hit you 2 or 3 times more now to take you down. There's 2 sides to the PvP reduction camp, those that don't know how to dogfight with 1 shot kill rules, and those that have uber gear that want to make everybody else weaker, to press thier advantage. Now we know where you stand.




I'll admit that a further PvP reduction would benefit myself, but that's only because I fly a heavy fighter most of the time. By the same token, those whoside withkeeping PvP damage where it is can be accused of doing so only because they want to maintain the advantage that light fighters currently have. Also, as I stated in the previous post, my ship's guns aren't exactally average. I don't think its fair to leave all the other heavy fighters gimped just so that pilots in light fighters who put zero effort into getting a decent gun can still be competetive. Also, as I stated earlier, in order to have the massive firepower I have on my heavy fighter, I have to go without armor. If the damage reduction was changed from 25% to 50%, sure, I'd still be able to one-shot most fighters, but by the same token, anyone in a two-gun fighter would still be able to one-shot a ship like mine. Even an a-wing pilot, if heput ineffort similar to what I did in aquiring good components, and put together a low-mass level 10 gun, would have the potential to one-shot.

PVP in deep space is infrequent because of the number of NPC's that you have to navigate through. Its not a sparsly populated area, its jam packed full of ships. Too much to sift through if you ask me.

The majority of the servers are empty. It's the reason the devs are scrambling like crazy to make changes that should of been made long, long ago.

As can be seen JTL didn't save Galaxies, if anything it needs a life preserver of its own.

People got tired and fed up of empty promises and bad decisions on a constant basis.

Many new games have had huge success' in getting record number suscribers in just a day or week of opening. Many coming from here.

Well, having played both WoW, and SWG, I'd have to say WoW is a far superior game. Blizzard actually seems to care about its customers. They actually stopped selling WoW because the servers are so overloaded.


Waiting for 2 years for a fix from SOE is just stupid. JTL could have saved SWG, but ultimately is a failure. Decay kills PVP. Not having decay kills crafters. Whats more important, PVP or crafting?


Devs seem to think crafting is more important. WoW has no penalty for PVP. Its just there for fun. The cost of losing is fixing your armor up that never loses max condition.


I've been playing SWG for 18 months. It was fun for about a year, then it became a monotonous grind. WoW has a vast world with lush landscapes and over 2000 differnet missions. The only missions you're going to get in SWG are base kills and deliveries. Not too much variety there. Jedi missions are about the only thing worth doing, and even they are a grind.

So you think firepower should be the deciding factor in space combat? Speed and handling should count for nothing? It took me over a month to put together the engine and booster I currently have in my ship. How's that for effort? We finally get a facet of the game where real honest-to-goodness skill can be the deciding factor, and people want to go and fork it all up. Learn how to fly.

On Starsider we've all made efforts to fly overt, so PvP in Kessel and Deep Space is fairly probable these days.

I go to Deep Space Overt multiple times a night everytime I play.


Mainly I go for the faction points and loot. I have been shot down about 3 times by players and I have also shot down about the same amount. PvP does need some work as far as I'm concerned.


All of the kills I have in Deep Space were the reult of someone not paying attention (thats how I got killed too!)


Load into Deep Space, quick SHIFT+TAB

Lock up missle, let 1 Space Bomb2 fly.... PvP over.

why let loose a missle or bomb? its so impersonal and takes no skill what so ever. lol. yes i know it is a way to kill people. but, i'd rather go and hit them with lasers then hit them with missles... but that's me

No, you don't even have to repair. If you're killed in Deep Space, your toon suffers wounds, but all of your parts and chassis are repaired tomaximum statuswithout decay.

I got Ace Pilot the first week JTL was live along with a bunch of friends of mine. I'll be honest, I think JTL has always had great potential for some great PvP, but what hit the nail in the coffin in JTL for me and my friends is simple PvP Decay. It's just crap to get some great parts looted or RE'd and have them fall apart from PvP deaths.

I'm sure the majority of the people that want to play JTL like I want to also avoid JTL because of the PvP decay.

It's kinda sad. But until it's gone, JTL is just instant planetary travel for me, and SOE know's they're gonna make JTL sales on just that alone, so they could probably care less about getting rid of PvP Decay.

Agreed, guns are more personal.. but I like the pretty trials the missles leave..


My Oppressor has 2 guns (4700 max dam, and 3900 max dam) with 3 Proton 3 launchers. Those Protons don't do much damage but it's fun as heck to fire off a slavo of them!
