I just went into HMV on Oxford Street in London today, and they said the game will be released on Friday 29th.
All games are released on Friday they say.

From all of the phone calls that I and other people have made today, there appears to be no chance whatsoever of anyone in the UK getting their copy of the game before 5th November unless they manage to get it in from the states before that time

Seems it definately has slipped to 5th November in most places. Play, Amazon and Gameplay all state 5th, but some highstreet stores state 29th. Best bet i'd say was to keep your preorders and go out on Friday and shop around. If you find it then buy it and cancel the preorder, you cant find it thenkeep the preorder goingand you'll get it delivered on the 5th.
Best we can do now.

Yeah tell me about it, this really stinks. For months now Europeans have wanted to know a firm release date, and considering the game goes live 2moro we are still none the wiser. Again European customers are ignored, all we want is a definate answer when this will be released. There were 4 threads yesterday asking for confirmation, none of them got a response. You guys watch when it comes to Friday with ppl expecting their copy of JTL across Europe there will be a lot of unhappy campers. Lets face it not everybody reads or posts on the forum, and to be honest this isnt a whine or a moan, its a general concern.

I've spoken to Activision (Lucasarts UK distributor, hence UK JTL distributor). It's slipped to 5th november as they didn't anticipate the level of demand and they need the extra time to aquire enough copies of the game. They will be starting to distribute media to retailers this friday I was told, but it will be unavailable for sale until the 5th.

See, what i dont get is why not release it on the 29th and sell what copies they have distributed. In the time between now and Friday, loads more copies can be produced and sent out to retailers so most people would get their copies on the 29th and then there would only be, say a wait until Monday for the rest to be availble for selling.
Madness!!!

I suspect that they don't have enough media to cover all the preorders.. so how do they decide which retailers get what proportion of the stock to try to fulfil some portion of their preorders. Remeber, Activision is simply the middle man supplying people like amazon and game etc. There would be too many cries of 'hey, not fair, amazon got more than game' or some such. This way is at least a level playing field.. a field that sucks, but I wouldn't have wanted to decide how to distribute what I had if I knew that I couldn't match what was ordered. I'm not defending the way they have opperated.. they must have seen this coming a few days ago and should have announced it straight away... but we're now stuck with this situation.
