Thread: How much everyone think ships will cost?
So taking that into account, if you use Crappy resources you will get crappy components which = cheap. If you use high quality resources you will get high quality componets with Greats or Amazings on the combines which will = Expensive but top of the line components or ships. I do think with what they are doing with the experimentation that you will have a base line for the ship, but that base line will be like anything else. The crappy ones will have a crappy baseline, the ones made with the HQ resources will have a much higher baseline that will add to the survivablity of your craft. Example, instead of lets say a 10K HAM ship for the Cheapo, for the Expensivo one you could have 20K HAM. That could mean the difference between finishing you mission or going EV. The same will go for the components.
So taking that into consideration, you will have the peeps who will throw any kind of useable resource into the component/ship just to pump something out and those will be the cheapo's. The peeps like me will not make a ship untill the resources are atleast 70-80% of what they could be will have much higher pricing. But the ship/Component you get will also be much better. With the way peeps are I will allways have customers. I do not advertise in anyway shape or form on my server, but I am allways selling weapons. Why, not becaues they are inexpensive, which mine are not, but because I use the best resources I can to make my weapons and if I do not have resources that meet my standard then I do not make weapons that require those resources. Ships, the good ones will be very expensive "unless specific resources are "not" required". As for how much? I would think a basic ship with no upgrades made with the best materials from 500K to 2Mil depending on how many resources are needed. As for the components, again I would have to see what resources and specific resources are needed to make the items to tell you and since we at this point have no clue other than a vague amount for the ships, I won't hazard to make a guess. Hope that helps
well look at it this way. Devs said a Y-1300 takes as many resources to make as a Guild Hall. As my days as a master arch i remember halls taking about 55K units of resources total (including resources in all subs as well as resources needed for the final assembly). Now on a 3:1 pricing ratio (3 creds per 1 unit of resource used) the starting price for a Y-1300 ship will be $165K. Like i said, this is on a 3:1 ratio. Average non-grind resource starts at 3 cpu. If an Master Shipwright is not a person who mines but buys his/her resources (many crafters do mine their own stuff but are restricted by lots avaiblility to drop harvestors on what they need) they will spend an average of 3 cpu. Now lets say they buy 100% of the resources, obviously they can't sell the ship on a 3:1 basis since they make zero profit. Buy 55K resources at 3 cpu and sell on a 3:1 ratio? Unlikely. So to make a profit they will sell lets say a Y-1300 on a 4:1 or 5:1 pricing ratio so that's what, $220K to $275K per ship. This is a realistic assesment on the cost of a Y-1300. I use this ship as an example since it is the only one devs gave us a hint on how much resources it will take to build. Even if a crafter makes one out of purly crap resources like 2 cpu grind stuff, your looking at a min of $165K, since again, the crafter, if he pays 2 cpu for all his resources, they will not go and sell on a 2:1 basis to make back the $110K they spent on resources just to sell at that same price. For those crafters who mine everything they need, they will maybe set their mark on the 3:1 ration, basically taking the worth of the resource into factor and sell it on that. But hey, this is only my assesment based on the resource count and the ratios used in the crafting community.
Now as for smaller ship? Let see, obviously they will take more resources that bikes. Max resources a bike takes it 8K. Now we're talking about ships here, so, purely guessing, they will start at a min of i'd say 20K resources (this is includes all subs and such that ships will take as well as the resources needed for final assembly). My gut is telling me 15K but who knows. I'm talking about the low end ships devs spoke about like the cargo ships or the beginner newbie ships we all will have. On a 3:1 ratio for 20K resources your looking at $60K for a low end basic ship. On a more profitable raito, 4:1 or 5:1 (trying not to go higher than 5:1 but some crafter do go a bit higher) your looking at a range of $60K to $100K for a low end ship. The grind resource crafter will sell a low end ship maybe at $40K (on a 2:1 grind resource pricing ratio). But let's keep the 3:1 ratio in mind because it is the average one used. All these figures are purely my assesment based on the history of pricing on this server and resources needed to make the ships, so i'm not saying this is how it's gonna be, but i don't think i gave any unrealistic expectations interms or pricing and resource count per ship. Better get ready to break the bank The 1st week will be one hell of a field day.
