Thread: Force Sensitive ability and pilot?

I see a lot of posts saying that SWG:Jedi should be more like Movie:Jedi, but those posts seem to ignore that in the movies the force sensitive population consisted of roughly 5 people. The devs have said that they are tossing continuity out the window on the whole Jedi issue, thus allowing the existance of SWG's Jedi horde. Since continuity is out the window, it means that continuity is not a valid justification for Jedi power.
On this particular issue the devs have very clearly stated that Jedi will have no advantages at all in space, and to justify this Jedi will pay no special penalty in space. I personaly think the game will be better for it.
It's your right if you want to continue to lobby to get special abilities added in space for Jedi. Just keep in mind that if Jedi space bonuses are added, Jedi space penalties will be added too.
I cancelled both of my accounts over the "there is not combat balance" thing. I renewedone to get in touch with someone in game and got a JTL Beta invite. Although I cannot comment on the Beta itself, I will say I agree with the many that have said space will be far more balanced without this issue.
I say no bonus, no negative. Doesn't matter if you're a Jedi or a Novice Artisan, space is space. That's the way it should be.
Not sure if you want to tell the whole world your a jedi. I am not sure if they are an officially recognized religion worldwide. I think they are in the US, but to be safe you need to keep that on the down low
Good hunting

If jedi get special abilities in JTL I will quit and I know many more will also quit because of this happening.
No you won't and you know it.
But if you say it enough, you might start to believe it.

The only thing jedi should get for space is the jedi starfighter, but only if it is unupgradeable, has no shields, weapons, or hyperdrive and is the only ship jedi are allowed to fly.
That is probablly the most feeble attempt at a dig I have seen on this forum.
Even when you factor in the movies and the games, the Jedi starfighter had VERY good shields, decent weapons and remember that big ring it was flying around with? That was a hyperdrive.
Usually Jedi hate has SOME basis in the movies or EU, you you're just spewing
random
ass-hat-ness.
Now you wanna come up with a VALID reason for the no-FS-in-space thing, I'm listening.
For those reading, I can think of SEVERAL reasons for no FS in space just off the top of my head. NONE of those reasons involve Jedi hate.

Based on the skills that I read about, a lot of special combat maneuvers in space are based on luck. Lucj determines whether or not you successfuly short-circuit your engines while trying to gain more power, and maybe skill mods can affect that.
AHHHH! a jedi relies NOT on luck...hmmmm?
No jedi skills will transfer to space. You might be the uber PvP killer on the ground, but prepare to be "pwned" by that "lowly" image designer in space!

That is why you see the B-Wing coming out in JTL. They're just trying to make this game fun for everyone, not just for powergamers and Jedi.
The B-WIng was made some time after A New Hope, and Before EMpire Strikes Back. SO there's no breaking continuity there.
A better example would be the fact that there should be no Jedi in this time frame...
NO! NEVER!

I was just wondering, I recently started glowing and started the village quest. I noticed that one of the branch trees include improved vehicle speed & terrain nego... ect. Nice but not worth all the points it takes unless these bonuses will apply to piloting a spacecraft in jump to light speed?

I’m sorry but that is wrong…
In Epidose I when Anikin is explaining the Pod race to those at his dinner table he distinctly said that he was the only human who could do it. Qui-Gon responded, “you must have jedi traits,”
Also, in Episode II we got to see Obi-Wan’s starfighter. If you check the continuity you will see piloting and the Force talked about. Also, that little thing that Obi-Wan was wearing on his head allows Jedi to have special controls over a starship according to the books.
Ah, but you're only remembering the movies, "from a certain point of view"...
Lets go down the movie list:
Episode 1 - When Qui-gon, Obi-wan and the queen were escaping Naboo and trying to brake through the Trade feds blockade, why did the Jedis just take over the pilot controls? Wouldn't they be better pilots? The answer wil be revieled as we go along...
Episode 2 - Obi-wan had to escape and hide from Jango Fett in the asteroid field. Being a Jedi should have made him better than a lowly bounty hunter with no FS, right? Shouldn't have Obi-wan totally pwned Jengo then? Read on...
Durring the final assult with clone troopers, no Jedi are driving, and instead are being driven by BH clones...
Episode 4 - Before luke was a jedi, he was a good pilot like his father. It is mentioned that Anakin was a great pilot. If all Jedi are great pilots, why mention that? Thats like seeing a pretty woman and telling her, "your're pretty, AND a female...". Why doesnt Obi-wan take over the Falcon to escape the star destoyers on Tatooine? Once again, wouldn't being a Jedi make him better than Han at this?
Okay now! Luke at the death star. As you recall, Luke wasn't the first to fire at the port, only the first to actually hit the port. And as luke himself said, just like hitting womrats back home...he was practiced intargeting long before being a jedi! And who saved the day? Luke? Nope. He was so busy concentraiting on firing at the port, he was an EASY target for Darth vader...
Who is so busy concentrating firing on Luke, he became a huge target for the real hero...HAN SOLO! A non-jedi. One stary shot and Darth is spinning outta control!
Episode 5 - What great jedi crashes his snowspeeder after being shot down by a AT-AT? Why it's the same one who crashes into the swamps of Dagobah!

Anakin Skywalker:
Anakin Skywalker is the only known human capable of handling the extreme speeds of Podracing. His small frame allowed him to sit in the tiny cockpit, and his superhuman reflexes gave him the advantage he needed to keep up with alien competitors better suited to the sport. Anakin's reflexes were actually the product of Force-intuition -- the boy could see events before they happened, and respond to them in kind.
