Thread: A few questions
Hi fellow pistoleer,
Gosh its been a while since the early days after release when we were the profession to be...Remember 100% effective pistol whips that powned every Nym Guard and his dog not to mention everyone in PvP.
Well it seems to me them glory days are gone and I wanted to ask you about it:
1) Why am i getting powned by rifleman and TKA 24/7?
2) Why (and i know this is a common q) is there only two useful shots in the whole tree (and they arent even the master shots)?
3) Why the heck would anyone bother to stay pistoleer with this in view?
oh and does melee one work at all reliably these days?
cheers

1) Riflemen shoot faster than you (+90 Rifle Speed), have over twice your accuracy (+175 Rifle Accuracy), have armor piercing weapons, +78 Ranged Defense (which makes you missthem a wholelot), can target mind, has a 5.0 AOE attack, has the best rangedDPS, etc. TKA has a far greater DPS than you, also has great ranged defense, is extremely hard to knockd own, and if they're a Master Brawler they can delay you for 20 seconds ... every 30 seconds.
2) There's no good reason. Most of our specials have been broken since release.
3) There's no good reason, aside from dedication to the profession or the hope that it gets better in the future. Pistoleer is also a nice complement to Smuggler and BH, which do have powerful pistol attacks, although you're right that you can get more bang for your buck with Rifleman or TKA. Those are the professions of the month.
PistolMeleeDefense1 fails a lot for me compared to other knockdown attacks, but it does work ... I use it a lot in PvE. In PvP it's not really valuable because it's limited to melee range. You'll never get into melee range of a Rifleman or BHand if you get that close to a melee you're dead.
OK so there are a few things i wish i understood better.
First off, can you please let me know where you find the answers to these questions, ive certainly looked around for them on this website and heard rumors here and there, but i want a concrete answer to some of these
Does counterattack from heavy swordsman effect anything outside of the swordsman tree... ive heard no, but ive heard that def vs blind or whatever counts everywhere, ive seen two handed counterattack +1 skill tape, but why doesnt the skill tree say somethinglikeonly while using two-handed weapons for the skill in the swordsman tree.
It seems like exp caps are normally 2x what you need for the next skill, but trapping caps at 30k when you need 20k for the skill(ranger), and combat goes above 120k when you need 60k for the first skill in an elite tree.
This is the one i really want to hear a response about, how does +10 ranged def effect ranged defense, you could get over 100 ranged or melee def so +10 couldnt be 10%, is it some sort of log function? if so what is it and what are they for all the other stats? This is frustrating because how do i know what i want to be if i dont know what +10 is? Because as weve already seen +50 counterattack doesnt mean squat if you dont have the right weapon out, or does it?
So to finish off the first question which stats matter where, defensive acutiy (dodge, block, counterattack), ranged/melee def, def vs whatever and so on
what about any other formulas, i guess that resourses at 255 in a stat mean 25.5% potential, if so how does a crafting station effect them, is it impossible to get a product at 100% anything or do you need to have over 100 experimentation points? When do you get another experimentation point, at +10 in skill tapes, or +5/6 through +14/5?
how do your secondary stats effect you regen or use, and does stength/quickness effect how much damage you take or just how much you use, what are the formulas
i think the numbers are pretty, me like big numbers, me take woman to cave and..... i just want to know what does what, the game is great ill give it that and regardless, if anyone figures out what is unreasonably benifitial the devs will fix the "exploit" anyway, but its not about some freaky exploit, i just want to know what works and what doesnt, and how it works so know what im trying to get and what i have?
Have i gone insane or is there someone else out there who feels a little lost in the details?
and thank you for whatever info anyone has and your time to decifer/answer these question
btw i never liked english class so you are going to have to cry on your mothers shoulder if you dont like my misspellings, or the board can put its own little spellcheck in the postings and ill make everyone happy and all can rejoice in the greatness of technology
thx again
but since you're probably to lazy let me break it down for you...
Mission Terminals are bugged... They display names of ncps who aren't jedi, various creature lairs, and other bs - so if you took a 150K mission chances are it's a broken one.
To hunt jedi you have to find them...yourself....with no droids....or informants....or waypoints...just a name
next time please READ THE FORUMS as this has been discussed many many many times... take two seconds to do a search and you wont get /-\sshole responses like the two you've just gotten. Goodluck
yeah. how dare me think my own profession's community would actually be nice.
thanks anyway. i found something.
LOL, what ^^^he^^^ said !!!
This is one of the most talked about things IN our forum...
There are Jedi bounties!?!?!?
LOL
Hey guys, ease up a bit. The original poster only has 69 posts, so he's not a forum junkie like the rest of us. Ya he could have done some research, he chose to ask. You could have ignored the post, you chose to respond. Let's not take our droid frustration out on him.

Fix our beeping missions DEVS!
What a bunch of asses.
Some people have lives and figure that others are not asses and can ACTUALLY be civil and help out. At least there was one in this thread that was not.
/sigh
Keep trolling around instead of stopping and telling someone to go do research.. LMAO research??? /whap If you cant answer the question or are SO infuriated by an actual question that you feel you need to tell someone to go do research then you need to stop...drop.. and roll.. wait, thats not it..
stop
count to 10
Turn the breakers off to your house

Well said
The Jedi missions problem is the single most talked about item on this board since the patch that instituted it. Anyone with a grain of common sense would know that, and in reality it's not much of a surprise. Yet, somehow people keep asking the SAME question over and over again, making it obvious that they couldn't bother themselves to do a smidgen of research. Couldn't bother themselves to simply leaf back through a couple pages and find any number of posts with the answers waiting for them. If you don't have the commnon sense to do something that easy you probably belong in the pistoleer forum instead of this one. The last thing we need in the BH prof is someone that can't bother to use common sense and a mouse.
