Why not have Jump gates??? That would solve most of the problems..of TIEs without hyperdrive..but then again flying all the way to a jump gate while our TIE Advanced friends jump on there own might be a pain.

Because "jump gates" break continuity more then glueing a freaking hyperdrive to a TIE Fighter does, and this whole thread is whining about breaking continuity for balance.

This entire game is about breaking the "rules" of SW.

Yup, so why complain about ties with hyperdrive?

who cares if they had them or not in the movies, that would suck and no one would use TIEs and SOE doesn't want that, plus you can just say it was added on to the ship

Because of that magical thing called "balance" where-in people aren't punished for being a faction. Rebels already outnumber Imps on almost every server, why are you trying to increase this margin? Are you rebel?

Does it look like I'm rebel?!?

Beinga Xwing Space Sim Veteran I too am discontent with the Tie Hyperdrive system.

Months ago I had assumed that since on every planet we look up and see 3 StarDestroyers in orbit that thats how Tie would go from system to system.

Like the starport you would dock with the SD and request Hyperspace to desired sector.

made perfect sense too me.

Also that SD would not be attackable, And you would have a 100M no fly zone around the ship. I imagine in woun't be long before Overts were camped right outside the SD waiting for Overt Imps to launch.

That brings up a good point. How much you want to bet hyperspace points get camped like its goin' outta style?

Yeah I am an Imperial to, and I don't want hyperdrives in the TIE's. And to everyone out there complaining because we want to have a serious discussion about continuity, and you are mad that SOE has ruined your game playing experience, sorry. Just don't take it out on the players that still care and have thoughtful things to say.

actually this sounds very very good. Nothing in this game should be fair, you guys have more powerful stuff and thats how it should be!

Even Star Wars movies dont like NGE....

Yoda: Twisted by the Dark Side, young SWG has become. The game we played, gone it is... Consumed by the NGE.
Mace Windu(us): The customers will decide SWG's fate.
Supreme Chancellor(Devs): I *am* the customers!

"And so it is" said Bail Organa as he left.
So this is how liberty is crushed...... by the sound of Tiggs Paws.

I'll miss being a TK

I oppose the NGE and support Holocron Shug and Q-3p0's dream of the way SWG should be!

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, ?How can we do this and not make another EQ?? We didn?t want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we?ve created a system to make that happen."

geeez it isnt a friggen religion. its a game. whats the difference between a TIE with a HD and someone yanking a speeder bike out of their pocket or a rancor or a starship or running around with 100000lbs of resources in their pockets??

its a device to make the game more playable. this isnt a direct translation of the movies.

NPC TIE fighters will not have hyperdrives. Player owned TIE fighters will have hyperdrives.

Did people tell Han Solo you can't modify your ship, freighters can't fly that fast!!!!

Hey, absolutely you can have your Star Destroyer...as long as I can have my Mon Cal Cruiser!

This would be balanced--the Imp Star Deuce is more powerful than the Mon Cal, but our fighters are better than TIEs which have neither hyperdrive nor shields.

I think allowing the Rebels to have hyperdrive and not allowing the Imps to do it w/a basic TIE) is great, because the Rebels (by the nature of being rebels) need to have the ability to do easy hit-and-runs. The Imps have the superior forces and the galactic government behind them, so they don't have to rely solely on their ability to arrive and flee quickly.
