I like the hyperjump animation, i just want to get rid of the countdown!! you know, the 4,3,2,1, acctually, its more like....4 (screenfreeze lag) 3 (screenfreeze lag) 2 (screenfeeze lag) 1.... get the picture? lol!! My screen lags everytime i get a system message, annoying!
Oops...this may be partialy my fault.
I was very adament on the sound issues in the beta JTL boards on having some kind of audible 5 second countdown to a hyperjump. I just liked the idea of the players on a MP ship yelling "hang on! here we go!" and then BOOM, you jump. We even toyed with several different beeping sounds (some were like a buzzy thing...ick!). I was quite proud when one of my ideas was listened to...
Before the coundown, all you got was the 25%-50%-74% messages then you just go to a wimpy blue swirl pattern. Other players on board would be doing there business, then find themselves in a loading screen. Some people assumed they were kicked or crashed to desktop!
Then the countdown from 5 was added with an unsatifactory sound, and a better hyperspace, but the sound was blaring, and the jump was just streaking stars...and not enough stars too.
Finally, a good beep of 5 count, that a mix of the old jump, the new jump, and excellent 3rd person view of your ship making the jump. Then the old familiar blue swirl and streaking stars out....as it is right now.
I kinda like the feel and anticipation myself!

(to be honest, i was actually hoping for a blinking light on your dash and maybe a message in your text like when you get mail, instead of the system messages on screen...but, oh well...)

Shame on you, do you not realise how many beta testers died to get this added.

I don't care how many Bothans had to die to bring us this animation.

I tend to hyperspace ONLY to those sectors which the map says are low risk.

See, I'm of the opposite opinion...
I'd rather have the Hyperspace effect while the data loads instead of the loading screen. And before someone says it couldn't be done, it's been done for years in AC with the portals, so yeah, it can.
The only time I could see this being a problem is on MP Ships, I can see how different load times could cause problems with clients knowing who is where, but since you are popped to viewing the cockpit during hyperspace anyway, it probably wouldn't make that big of a difference.
See that's just it, the data ISN'T loading while the animation is playing. So I'm wanting to get back into the action but I have to wait for the animation to play, and then wait for the next zone to load.
The animation is cool, but I'd rather jump right back into playing. There should be an option to disable it. Just MHO.
Sooo....let me get this straight... you want to sacrifice any little amount of immersionwe have to powergame?
No thanks. ![]()
