Ok even with a high enough ratio you still don't have to pay for the skills. It is a free profession as in you don't have to pick it over another

one except for the other to pilots but that makes sense you just can't work for the rebs & imps at the same time or else no one would trust

you.

JTL is fun. Really really really really fun. Thats why you should not be able to grind jedi. Its supposed to be hard and a pain to get jedi. So if

you get to become jedi while having fun it would upset the ones that had to do it as a pain in the @$$ way. So is it fair to make it more enjoyable for you cus you say so and the people who made jedi first and spent more time and effert in in should not only not get rewarded but some what punished? And this is only for a few months or unless you skipped every phase so far. More like 1.5 or so if you started at

phase 1.

Never will you get something that can kill almost everything without going through long grinds and endless same old stuff.

And for the idea of the ratio getting it to a reasonable lvl you know how hard thats gonna be for the devs? By the time they get it to a lvl on

which everyone agrees which will never happen there will be complaints about its too easy no fair or its too hard. And then think of the

corrent jedi's they will be pissed to know that its getting easier to get jedi then it was for them?

It is irrelevant that you don't have to pay for the skill. In the arena where that skill is used, there are no other skills being used.

Contrary to the grind mentality, "fun" and "getting jedi" do not have to be mutually exclusive. In fact, the current FS XP system had stated as its mission to be a way to get to jedi while playing like you normally would anyway. It is supposed to be difficult, meaning not easy.

But games are supposed to be difficult and fun. Things that are difficult and not fun are usually called work. People usually do work because someone is paying them. You must not have enough work in your life if you come home and pay for a service to give you more work.

Not to mention, you open up starship xp to conversion, and the "I'll just grind master in less than an hour" shipwrights will come forward wanting the same ratio as any other crafter.

People just don't seem to view this as a multi-tiered issue that will just get progressively worse if implemented:

1. You start off by making starship xp convertible.

2. Shipwrights complain, so conversion ratios are added for them as well in a hotfix.

3. Seeing the attitude of appeasement, the "JEDI SHOULD GET SPACE SKILLS" advocates start opening their beaks, waiting for their allotment of regurgitated content from the Devs.

4. While the Devs shake the #3s off their legs for the next few months following their concessions, everyone and their cousin's uncle become Jedi or fully-force sensitive.

#4 might be inevitable as more and more people start questioning "what the hell is there left to do in this game," but as it is now the "critical mass" point in this game is about six months off. Implementing starship-to-FS xp conversion would light the fire NOW.

Noone wants same xp for crafter with shipwrights. Read what I can craft on my signature. Architect 40:1 ratio, what are you crafting? Do you think all crafting ratios are same in all crafting categories?

You seriously have issues.

Whythe heck should space xp be tradeable for force xp? Gimmeone good reason!!

Why the heck wouldn't it?

Everything else does. Space combat is not exploitable like the ground combat and craftingand is more fun since it takes skill and teamwork for the hard missions.

It should be allowed if just for thosereasons.

So far I have not heard any "good" reasons to not allow it. If space xp is too easy to attain, then that is easily rebalanced to be more in line with other professions.

I do not want it for myself though, I am not interested in the mythical carrot called jedi that the devs dangle in front of us. I would never want jedi to be anything to do with the space expansion as far as skills go, I just think it is combat and should count towards force sensitivity.

I just want my friends who are addicted to jedi grinding to come play in space with me since space combat actually does require teamwork and skill unlike the ground game.

This would really give them and others a reason to actually go into space and not just spam various combat shots in the geo caves and on dath.

For those that did not buy JTL,they are not interested in space anyway and should not care about it. I want it for people that are interested in space but want to actually accomplish stuff in game and not just fly around collecting low end ship parts.

Always the same thing... Becoming a Jedi require you to spend time in the game, by just playing... Playing doesn't mean it has to piss you off, if you have fun when hunting with friends and make tons of xp, then should than xp vanish because you had fun AND did xp ? I don't think so... Fun and working on your character are not exclusive you know... We just want pilot to become one of the ways to become Jedi, because it's our way to play...

That doesn't need to be the fastest way (and it won't be, even with a 30:1 ratio it's almost twice slower than on the ground), just one way to do it... Everyone take the way they like most, if you prefer dancing, hitting stuff with a weapon, your bare fists, crafting stuff... Choice is yours...

[sarcasm]But since people can fill one full branch in 2 days grinding on the ground, I suggest we remove xp conversion for combat professions...[/sarcasm]

Have fun guys...

Sure Combat XP is easy to get, but this could be easily balanced with a high conversion rate.

Also I don't understand the reasoning that the Pilot career takes no skill points and that this would make it unfair(?). When I play SWG I can either be in space or on the ground, I can either get space XP or ground XP, not both at the same time. Time invest is the same - again, given a balanced conversion rate.

__________
If you want to become a Jedi, go grind on the ground and earn it the right way. There's no such thing as letting you do what you enjoy and at the same time pushing you closer to some goal that's totally unrelated.
__________

There you left me. The "right way" means boring grinding on the ground (until maybe Combat Revamp etc. will make it more interesting)? "Right" in what way? And how's shooting critters on the ground more related to Jedi than space combat? Why is space and Jedi totally unrelated when Luke and Anakin have been awesome pilots and I bet there have been more? Sure it shouldn't be the one'n'easy way to get Jedi but it could be one way of many!

A game should be enjoyable, no? SWG is a game. Saying that to achieve big tasks the way towards them has to be utterly boring makes no sense to me. Time consuming, ok, but boring and not enjoyable? Let's assume the Combat Revamp will make ground combat fun and interesting as never seen before, should it then be removed from the Village and only crafting will get you Jedi?

I did never ask for an easy way to get Jedi on a silver platter. I'd just like space xp to be added to the conversion possibilities and I've yet to see a good argument against it.

This isn't a game about becoming jedi for crying out load. If you think the process is boring and not enjoyable, go and do something else. And don't give me that Luke/Anakin crap again, the space game is twitch based, remember that. There should've been only a limited number of jedi, like 5 or less, on any server in the first place.

Message Edited by Amuro0079 on 11-30-2004 01:37 AM

And your argument is ...? Eh?

Throwing grenades or whatever, killing x thousands Rancors is what? Right, no fun "to me" thus I don't do it and I don't "grind" Jedi. I'll probably achieve Jedi in 2007 if SWG exists that long which I'm sure of but anyhow. How's spending time in space and wanting a little benefit towards force sensitive XP = crying out loud? Space combat is as much related to Jedi as is ground combat.

So I shall not give you the Luke/Anakin crap but in the next sentence you say that there should be only 5 or less Jedi due to the time the game was put in when it started by following the movie/story? Huh? Also you say it's twitched based thus it can't be allowed to be converted.. so what?

Again: With the right balanced conversion rate space XP wouldn't get you to Jedi faster than ground combat. I wouldn't even mind it being slower.

This is the real reason why you can't trade pilot exp for force exp....

I gained one million pilot exp in an hour doing tier 4 duty missions..... one million in an hour. Did you hear me right?

ONE MILLION IN AN HOUR!!!!!!!!!!

That's why. NO other profession can you get that much exp. Touch pilot exp for force exp, and you just killed the whole reason why there's a village in the first place.

Ahh Ehmmm .

I gain 900k unarmed and 900k one handed xp (1.8 million total) PLUS180K Combatxp (traded at 3:1) in 2 hours. In case you can't do the math, that's 120k Force xp and the1 million Pilot xp converted at the same rate is 33k force xp.

So Ground xp is faster, the big differenceI find is Space xp a lot more fun to get then ground xp, but then; WHY SHOULD GAMES BE FUN?<----------- Insert sarcasim here
