Hmm, I fly a JSF, am in no way a noob, and have had almost no desire to be a jedi in the 2 years I've been playing SWG and the many months I've been master pilot.

I fly one because i'm collecting all the ships I can possibly get over my 2 chars and at the moment I like this the most (tho I'm starting to warm to my vaksai a bit at the moment)

If I want to fly it and "SOME" people have hang ups about it well, that's thier problem not mine.

And why did you quote my post before typing this?

Because you posted that generally all JSF pilots are noobs, I was posting that it isn't always the case.

And becuase I took offence to the tone of the post that you seemed to be attacking my choice as a player and subscriber of this game to fly whatever I like.

I also have an inherent hate of people using the term "noob" so liberally when it doesnt always apply to the person they are brandng with "noob" status.

I ONLY fly my Jedi Starfighter.

It is the best ship out there for me. I have a decent engine and shields in it, no armor, and some mid grade weapons. My speed is around 1400 but whats better is I can actually manuver fast enough to dodge incoming blaster fire. This thing is like a hummingbird on crack.

It is well worth the effort to get it...however I also have the Grevous figher and it is a very close second. You can usually pick one of those up for around 500k on Chilastra, I am guessing a similar pice elsewhere.

Good luck and watch your six.

if the JSF was only flown by noobs you could shoot them down quick. ALOT of skilled pilots fly them. I fly it but have since switched to my A-wing cuz im tired of hearing the real noobs whine every time they see me.

Exactly. If any one of us top pilots jumps in a JSF, we can destroy everyone else on the server. So if any of us got in a JSF, we'd all have to get in a JSF (or maybe RGIs since they're bugged now). And how stupid is all JSF combat in a game set during the OT?

haha me too.... in the... many... 1v1 or 1vmore engagements Ive had against JSFs in my XWing Ive only really been killed twice outside the PvP events... Ive actually been killed more times in 1 day by Starscreams TIE Heavy than by JSFs in all the time theyve been around... So much for the aces flying JSF heh... Had some problems with 1 yesterday, probably mostly due to the fact that I was doing 1v2 and only slept 3 hours the night before...

In an event some weeks ago we (rebel team) were being pwned by a sh!tload of Imp JSFs... I landed and picked up my own JSF and took the waypoint we fight for practically by myself... wasting 5 JSFs in the process (and a couple of TIE heavies I think)

THATs what happens if an ace flies a JSF

As Starscream said... On Bloodfin very few, if any, top PvP pilots fly JSF...

...a lot of people (like the OP) just pick the JSF because their friends tell them to...

Please don't speek for me. I never said anything about my friends telling me to "pick" the JSF. In fact, I don't know a single person who has one. The first thing I was interested in was doing the quest (content). If I didn't have to drop factions and everything to do the quest, i'd do it even if the JSF was no more powerful than my old Z-95 and I'd just stick the deed in my house as decoration. But, since it amounts to a bit more trouble than that (dropping faction, lossing all pilot progress) I wanted to be sure it was actually a decent ship. I didn't ask "Is it the best ship in the game?" or "Will I pwn some noobs with this 1337 ship?" The fact that I came to these boards for information on the ship and to see if it was any good should be evidence enough that I don't have a bunch of "noob jedi" or whatever telling me to go get a JSF. I may or may not do the quest...I happen to like my x-wing just fine, but if I do get a JSF it won't be to tip the scales in pvp since I very rarely PvP. Also, I don't see why i have to "Pick" anything. Last I checked I could have as many ships as I wanted and 3 active in my datapad at any one time. Since I'm much more interested in RP and immerssion there is no chance I'll be replacing my x-wing just because the JSF looks better on the spec sheet. I'm not an ace pilot...not the tag over my head or the skill behind the stick, but I don't need to be. I'm just a dirty terrorist rebel trying to make a place for myself in this galaxy. If I happen to pick up a few nice toys allong the way...well then so much the better.

Well your question was answered, in that it is a decent ship, the best ship. But if you are not looking for that advantage in PvP, then I would in no way recommend dropping Rebel pilot or a Rebel faction rank to get it.

Instead I would go kill the Nercrosis (spelling?). This is still fun content (The Jedi Starfighter quest is mostly bugged or boring anyway, so you won't really have much fun doing it) and you can loot the B22. The B22 has the same stats as the JSF, but a has a bigger hitbox and looks different of course. And this has no requiremnts on ground or space faction.

Hay Namewithheld,

The quest is ground based execept for the last mission. You get the JSF after the second to the last mission so... technically you do not need to do any space missions to get the fighter. You need to be combat imp to do some of the missions.

Have fun with it. you can see how the imps live. it will help you fighting the TIE fighters ( D'oh, I must not help the Rebs ).

The Jedi Space Fighter and the Rebs verson , the Grivious fighter are both Tier 4 ships. you can not be reb in space and Imp on the ground, picky picky.

As for everyone else capping on you. and trying to control what everyone else is flying.....

They are just player haters. I have a Jedi Fighter and it rocks. It has a smaller foot print so it is harder to hit. Very important if you do your teir 4 missions solo. The 2 guns helps ALOT! when you get swarmed by 10 fighters, you will be happy you can kill them off in less then 5 sec. ( some take longer but it is nothing like the 15 sec in my cheap one gun tie fighters). and the max weight of the JSF is great. The rebs may not think much of it but if you look at the max weight on tie fighters, they are low ( for the rebs that say, "tie fighters are lightso they canswarm their targets". I do not get a flight of my brother tie fighters to swarm into battle with me. LOL)

For the Rebs that say , "tie fighters have great manuvability!" they are right , I was always behind the enemy but the 3 or 4 of his buddies were behind me and it was hard to kill him when you have to break off to shake his friends. ( of course this was before I used droids and got shield shunt, LOL).

So many Rebs talk dodo about the JSF but you will see not a few guys go imp to get one. The Grivioius fighter is the same ( just a larger foot print ( target) I am guessing.

I am a imp and to me the JSF is the best I can fly ( I am still looking for time to do the Imp Guard Red intercepter, need to see how much time to detacate for the missions, I am married and do not lots of free time. LOL) The JSF is easy. All the missions are on the ground execpt for the last , which is in space. On the ground missions it is easy to find a stopping point. Not so easy in the space missions.

What the heck is concidering a NOOB any way. I like the JSF , My first alt has been playing since the first month the game came out and my 2nd ( this one ) has been playing since buff packs came out and the cost of avian meat hit the roof and I had to get a toon just for hunting. Just because someone does something they do not like are they a newbee? SCREW THEM. Play what you like , It is your money not theirs. First lession on being an adult. Screw peer pressure and do what you want to do ( Although I would try to say pretty much within the law if you want to say out of jail, LOL ). They are not your parents and they do not care dodo about you. Is is about them and their selfish selves.

If you get a JSF , I am happy for you , even if you are a REB ( well, I can only be so happy if you are a reb , but I must repect the detacation to be a double turncoat. thats a lot of grinding for pilot and faction).

Do what you like and have fun.
