As I live in the uk, I have been wondering about the release date for the Space Expansion.. Will it be a universal release? Or will we have to wait?

Basically the long and short of it.....It looks as though we will have to wait. Today I checked my local store 'Game' for a possible release date, even if it was the said Fall 2004. I asked the manager whether he knew anything about the release, and was told our release will be after the US release. He had been told this by a Sony rep apparently. I have to say I so hope this isnt true as a lot of ppl will be to put it mindly a bit peeved. I can understand that the main release was delayed while the server's were set up in Europe, but as we have them now whats gonna happen? We all want the release and to be honest it should be all at the same time. What about the ppl that use that game cards that havernt got a credit card? I myself will order mine on import, but many wont or cant. We need confirmation on this as soon as possible. Left to the last minute for us to be notified, will in my opinion be a bad move, causing a lot of unrest in the European comunity....

This is going to be great!!! WooHoo I also like the idea of Twitch style of control for the flight control. It justs adds another element to the game.

/give thumbs up to devs

Continuity problem: Star Wars ships don't jump to lightspeed. They jump to Hyperspace. You have you SciFi genres mixed. If ships jumped "just" to lightspeed, it would take them 4 years to go from Earth to it's closes neighboring star.

I guess Lucasarts is sleeping at the helm in protecting their darned universe.

Hmm.

I don't suppose anyone could tell me how to get X-Wing & Tie Fighter to run in Win XP.

Due to this expansion coming out, I'm going to need to re-aquaint myself with them and hone my dogfighting skills. I don't want to bog this thread down with this, so just send me an email or message in the forum.

While you guys are all over the spiffy new craft, I'll be happy to re-aqainy myself with an old favorite. The Y-Wing. Sure it's a lumbering beast of a starcraft, but considering the beating these things can take and still manage to complete their mission, I'll take one of these classic craft over a B-Wing anyday!

Thanks!

From the gamespy interview:

GameSpy:How do you plan to connect both parts of Star Wars Galaxies so that they don't devolve into two separate games? Will there be quests or content that requires you to do stuff on the ground and in space?
Cinco Barnes:The space experience offered by Jump to Lightspeed is tightly integrated with the Star Wars Galaxies ground-game adventure in many ways.
Great job of making the playstyle like X-W v T-F and bringing it to the best MMO platform out there!

GameSpy: Do players take off and land manually? Or is there some type of an automated "break" in the game?

Cinco Barnes: We don't want you to worry about learning how to land and we definitely want to be able to thrust you into the action immediately. You'll launch your starship from a starport, and be taken directly into space via a loading screen where you can immediately engage enemy ships or plot a course to another planet.

Do you play hockey? That was the best deke I've seen in the 2004 playoffs! I am very, very sad we'll see no player-piloted craft flying about the sky, and the battle of Hoth is just plain not possible now. I already had a group of people planning to get into base raids. I was also very interested in the how game would change with tie bombers. It looks like we are going to see very divergent worlds. If this leads to NO LAG space battles as the load should be miniscule I could come around to enjoy it, but much like the jedi saber duel video was A GIANT, LAGLESS LIE I'm afraid we're headed to the choppy, lag-plauged future. The Devs are not capable of predicting the future, but they are certainly capable of predicting the rosiest version of a non-existant future. I wish I could find the post where officially they claimed that flying into the planet was the desired direction. Blackman's comment a few weeks back about "flying bomber missions over Tatoonie" was a carefully constructed statement indeed! "Promise the sky and deliver... the early 90's" must be the motto at the space expansion dev team.

Let me tell you this, we absolutely LOVE our jobs. And we LOVE this game. We are dedicated to doing whatever we can to enhance your play experience. And it usually only takes one fan's blood to drift off...

That's what I did, use the windows 95 compatibility post. It works just fine.

You are technicly right however I think they were used interchangably in star wars, I think Leah says "how long untill we can mak the jump to lightspeed" (if I can rember corectley).

I read this on the Lucas arts forum: use the windows 95 combatability mode on and turn off 3D acceleration for some reson it only works with software render. hope that helps.

to tell you the truth snikrop... i never thought or figured they would have manual landings and what not. Just never occured to me as something doable.

I mean it'd be hard to do to allow space based ships to fight on the ground. dont ya think? it'd be a bit unbalancing. not to mention laggy as heck

Excellente! Thanks a ton for the advice. I've tried compatability mode before and it just sort of choked, sputtered and then threw the sound card at my head. Never thought that the 3D acceleration would be a problem since it never called for it in the first place.

Thanks again!

Hey that is CRAZY, especially since I would have expected Lucas Arts to handle the naming and marketing from their departments.
