Continuity problem: Star Wars ships don't jump to lightspeed. They jump to Hyperspace. You have you SciFi genres mixed. If ships jumped "just" to lightspeed, it would take them 4 years to go from Earth to it's closes neighboring star.
I guess Lucasarts is sleeping at the helm in protecting their darned universe.
hmm good point.... even though it is a just a name, good point.

Hmm.
I don't suppose anyone could tell me how to get X-Wing & Tie Fighter to run in Win XP.
Due to this expansion coming out, I'm going to need to re-aquaint myself with them and hone my dogfighting skills. I don't want to bog this thread down with this, so just send me an email or message in the forum.
While you guys are all over the spiffy new craft, I'll be happy to re-aqainy myself with an old favorite. The Y-Wing. Sure it's a lumbering beast of a starcraft, but considering the beating these things can take and still manage to complete their mission, I'll take one of these classic craft over a B-Wing anyday!
Thanks!
Great job of making the playstyle like X-W v T-F and bringing it to the best MMO platform out there!GameSpy:How do you plan to connect both parts of Star Wars Galaxies so that they don't devolve into two separate games? Will there be quests or content that requires you to do stuff on the ground and in space?Cinco Barnes:The space experience offered by Jump to Lightspeed is tightly integrated with the Star Wars Galaxies ground-game adventure in many ways.
GameSpy: Do players take off and land manually? Or is there some type of an automated "break" in the game?
Cinco Barnes: We don't want you to worry about learning how to land and we definitely want to be able to thrust you into the action immediately. You'll launch your starship from a starport, and be taken directly into space via a loading screen where you can immediately engage enemy ships or plot a course to another planet.
Do you play hockey? That was the best deke I've seen in the 2004 playoffs!

You are technicly right however I think they were used interchangably in star wars, I think Leah says "how long untill we can mak the jump to lightspeed" (if I can rember corectley).

I read this on the Lucas arts forum: use the windows 95 combatability mode on and turn off 3D acceleration for some reson it only works with software render. hope that helps.
to tell you the truth snikrop... i never thought or figured they would have manual landings and what not. Just never occured to me as something doable.
I mean it'd be hard to do to allow space based ships to fight on the ground. dont ya think? it'd be a bit unbalancing. not to mention laggy as heck
