That sounds plausible. I just figured that an explosion of that magnitude would have propelled the remaining pieces of Alderaan with enough force to escape the gravitational field of its sun. It really all depends on how the planet was broken apart though.Message Edited by Narreem0884 on 04-18-2005 03:51 PM
Not just plausible, but unless the entire mass of the planet was literally ripped from it's orbit and flung nearly directly at or directly away form the star, impossible that anything else happened.
Now quit trying to deny us a super cool mining site

Very well. I endorse your efforts to get the chance to mine in that particular area of space.Just don't get mad if some native Alderaanians get the wrong idea and blast you for it. That would be fun to try, though.

Have you ever read any of the Star Wars universe books? First off, Alderaan gave up all its weapons and violent ships, and sent them off on a single ship. That is why the destruction of Alderaan angered so many of the galaxy inhabitants, because Alderaanians were innocent. After the destruction of Alderaan, it became a graveyard, a place for people to go and remember their friends and families. They shoot gifts of rememberances out. To mine the graveyard of Alderaan would be to dishonor the victims of the empire.

And why again would pirates and greedy profitseekers care about the [dis]honour of others?

I still say anyone giving up all their weapons in this galaxy was asking for trouble.

this is a great idea for a new space zone and some really nice ideas have appeared throughout the thread. I'd really like to explore such an important area since this is the first time you really see how evil the empire is
like to see it sometime soon.

Now that's a really cool idea! Let us mine the Graveyard of Alderran. Maybe some of those 'pirates' that attack us could be hired by Alderranian families that don't want us mining the remains of their planet.

Thanks for the support everyone!
I honestly was not thinking about the graveyard part, simply the mining opportunities. However, I would say that pirates and other well wishers attacking you does add to the zone. The weapon ship could be a cool dungeon if you could disable and dock with it. I am being particularly ghoulish in that we could loot Magseal containers dropped off as gifts, finding something akin to Mandalorian Wine or something like that inside. I don't support that kind of thing in real life, but being that this is a game and you are regularly killing NPCs all over the place for anything and any reason, looting a rememberance gift is not exactly worse than those things.

Didn't one of Liea and Han's Kid's find a really cool force crystal in the debris in the Alderaan space. Oh noooooo that may link the space game to the ground game.....nm....

Come on DEVs, theres no reason not to add this!!
Just 1 more space zone!!
Guild ships and other capital ship things could take a but load of work but not this.
Same with new ships, you dont need any new ships with this.
Shoot, you dont need much new art! It would be barren space (deep space) with a sun and lots of asteroids.
Cant be to hard...... PLEASE!
