Escort missions for Alderaanians making a pilgrimage to the graveyard to pay respects to the dead.

Pirat missions to steal loot from pilgraming Alderaanians.

Imperial Survey Missions

Rebel destroy missions to destoy inperial reserch ships studying the effects of the Death Star Ray.

Mining missions to harnest some of the minerals in the fragments of the planet that obsorbed some of the energy from the Death Star Ray.

Sounds like a good space sector

It sounds like there's multiple different possibilities for things that could be done at the Graveyard. I'd love to see this added as a zone, perhaps reachable from our oh-so familiar Deep Space stations. And think of the battles! Weaving between asteroids in your freighter while trying to smuggle out goods for the rebellion, and a flight of TIEs that stumbled in to you give chase. Sound vaguely familiar? The only thing I could see being a problem is that, as this zone would probably be entirely asteroid laden, framerates for those on lower end computers would drop considerably. I still really want to see this added as a zone though, it just seems like such a cool idea.

This would be very good. and lets face it, space zones have got to be far easier to put togetherthan planets.

Lets see, what goes into a space zone and what goes into a planet (im bored)

Planet -

  1. Surface levels

  2. Surface textures

  3. Flora

  4. More Flora

  5. Dungens

  6. Sky box

  7. Spawn Paterns

  8. Decorations

  9. City designe

  10. Quests

  11. Building placement Ruels

Space -

  1. Planets

  2. Nebule

  3. Spawn Patterns

  4. Station placement

  5. Rock Placement

  6. Quests

  7. Hyperspace Points

Planet -

  1. Major parts are city designe, Decorations, Quests and Dungeons

  2. Art is done for a few types of trees and rocks and bushes and such and copyed around automaticly baised on rules of the planet

  3. New Creatures require new textures

Space -

  1. Major parts are the Planets and Quests

  2. Art is diffrent for each sector and has large varity within each sector

  3. New ship MOBs dont use any new textures

Planets take alot of programing and structural design (for dungeons and static structures)

Space takes alot of art, the spacebox for all secotors are diffrent and very stunning (look at a planet some time, or go to kessel and just look at it)

They both take equal work just in diffrent places, planets in design and structure and space in artwork and general beauty.

Ok im done, and still bored in chemistry

Making it PvP would be a bit rough on anyone that wants to mine in a y8 with the present condition of multiplayer ships in that.

Navigating the bloody graveyard in a Y8 would be bloody dificult!

That ship is massive and the graveyard would be a mass field of asteroids for you to bump off of.

Hmmm, Rolling actualy having a purpose?

Yes, it might be rather unwise to make an Alderaan space zone all-PVP. Even so, it sounds as though such a zone would be feature-rich enough to make PVP an afterthought.

As for the effects of the Death Star's "mining laser": Death Star points. Death Star shoots. Target goes "BOOM!"

Also, realistically speaking, until we get ship damage from hitting large and relatively immobile objects, asteroids are little more than an annoyance, unfortunately.

Thats why the best resources would have to be in the middle of it all

The Alderaan system would be cool, but it would have to be creepy as it has become a place of ghost stories most spacers and pilots strongly believe in. Stories of ghost ships appearing and vanishing, even attacking but not destroying other ships are tossed around cantinas. And of course, pirates and Alderaanians should both be there to attack miners and looters. Alderaanians would try to drive you off while pirates would simply attack you. Missions as pirates and Alderaanian escorts would be cool. Since many Alderaanians joined the Alliance the Empire could have a small outpost or station. The Alliance could use the system for smuggling cover, as well as a waypoint for their forces. Good stuff. These ideas are realy cool. Now if only we could get some space stations and heavy transports......

Since it was destroyed by a rather violent explosion, all the matter that made up that planet has likely left the system by this point.

Consider the size of our solar system (since we don't have a good idea of others). The inner planets are tiny compared to the size of the overall system. Alderaan's debris will be hanging in orbit around it's star for a long, long, long time.

bump to the top. Some really good ideas here. Maybe the devs might see it if it stays around long enough. Don't expect anything for this expansion, it's already planned out but why not start giving them ideas for the next one.

That sounds plausible. I just figured that an explosion of that magnitude would have propelled the remaining pieces of Alderaan with enough force to escape the gravitational field of its sun. It really all depends on how the planet was broken apart though.
