seriously though, god bless the internet, when i was a kid my only recourse was to scream "THE GAME CHEATS!" at the tv and throw my controller on the floor. now, 12 year olds everywhere can practice their writing skills.

But you cant save a gave in a multiplayer mode, so why would you get to in a MMO. HOWEVER, there are some missions that can be broken up and finished later. these are the once that take place in multiple systems. As long as you dont enter the system the quest doesnt begin. But you cant and should not be able to just save progress in the middle of a quest. In halo i dont believe it allows players in multiplayer to quick save the game when they grab the flag so they dont have to go grab it again, same situation here or magnified.

This is just another classic SP vs MP complaint, but no matter what this will always be a MP game, and a MMO at that.

This is a very good point.

True, this is an MMO.

I'm in the village right now. I'm doing the captain's quest. It's dull. It's laborious. I have to do a patrol and visit multiple waypoints and fight any sith there. 10 times.

Each time you complete one patrol it's crossed off a list. Then you do the next one until you complete all 10.

Now it's a dull, long winded quest. I hate it. But I get a mate to come along and we get on with it. We did about 3 patrols a night, just because it was so dull and couldn't bare it any longer!

Now imagine if we had to do ALL 10 patrols at once, one after the other. And if we got killed on the last patrol we had to start over again from patrol 1.

But that doesn't happen. Because they've designed the quest to be split up into 10 patrols.

Now, in the same MMO, why can't they split up space missions into more chewable pieces? What real harm would it do to the game?

If I need to have a bathroom break in the middle of a game of Capture the Flag on Halo I go, come back, and have only losta few minutes of gameplay. Playing multiplayer Halo doesn't need a save game because I'm not playing that particular game mode to progress further in the game as a character. Or to gain better weapons or vehicles. etc etc.

I am trying to make progress in an MMO.

Anyway, I think the best advice was get a mate to come along. Not very easy to do, but we all know it works =)

Quantumsheep, agree that the quest are long and tedious and maybe should have been broken up a bit more however as we all know, the devs and SOE wonttake the time to revamp the escort missons. But going back to the original issue....

The guy is whining about STORM Squadron being to hard, when its the hardest squad in game. He could just as easily pick up Black epsilonwhich is way easier (from my experiance anyway) and alot for intersting of a story plot in my opinion. SS and its infamously long escorts arnt going be be changed any time soon if ever. There are9 otherpilot Squardons to master, so rather than stamping our feet in temper tantrum we should accept it as a fact of life and adapt accordingly. Once you got an ace badge or 2 under your belt the pilot grind becomes much easier with the xp bonus and your collection parts from previous masters.

Like others have said, get a friend or two to come along, even lower lvl guys can help out and make a world of differance.

you do know that you only need to get the xp and fill the boxes and avoid the missions... yes you actually don't have to do mission after mission you can go and grind out xp in space then train when you qualify... the only missions you have to do are the final 2 to reach master pilot... hope that makes it better...

i was able to master pilot this way.. i do a mission once in a blue moon but i take atleast 4 others with me..

a good pilot knows when to ask for help.. and a good imp knows when to bring a squadron.. remember imperial tie squadrons tend to be between 3 -5 never any less then this... remember this and you should do well

Ah, storm squadron...

I signed up on day 1 of JTL in live because I wanted my home base to be Tatooine. (That didn't last long)

For the next two months, I spent long nights swearing at the impossible, spirit crushing missions that I had to haplessly do over and over, as well as over and over again with other members of Storm Squadron.

I gave in mid tier 3, and went RSF. And soloed it. All the way.

WHAT? Did you play some special squadron or something??

From the Pilot FAQ:

Missions, XP, and Training:

Pilot training isn't necessarily granted each time you fill your xp box, nor is it always necessary to have xp to train a new skill. At some tiers, advancement is based solely on missions completed, while at others you'll require both missions and xp. Requirements for training at each tier are as follows:

  • Tier 1: xp and missions
  • Tier 2: xp and missions
  • Tier 3: missions only
  • Tier 4: xp and missions
  • Master Box: missions (two, in some cases three) only. Once you train to 4444, xp does not matter for you.
  • Post Master: you now receive prestige points instead of experience points; these are used to gain access to Deep Space. Each faction grants different prestige points.
