Thats a rediculous idea. You had no idea they might add a new species when you picked the one you did? Did you never assume they might put out an expansion pack or five? EQ adds new species and new classes all the time. Im pretty sure you cant go and change your race every time they put out a new expansion. And from what ive seen, people boast about how they can grid out master in any species in a week, so how much of a drag is it REALLY re-roll your characters. Get a friend to hold all your gear, go make a new species and transfer it all back to you. That puts you halfway there.
Who ever said that if they let people change it would lead to tickets being filed to change back was absolutely right. people would try sullustian or ithorian, get bored and want their old dudes back because of some wierd quirk (undershirt doesnt work on ithorian, game BREAKING bug) and all that. No thanks.

In SWG, unlike in most other MMORPGs, you can be any profession (any class) you want. That's enough freedom for me, so no need to be able to switch species.
