Thread: Do you enjoy JTL?

Its relaxing to play after the intensity of a Planetside game. I give the graphics a 10 but once your tier 4 ship is maxed out, you can play most of JTL's PVE with just a 2 button mouse at 450 throttle, except against jillion droid junkers. It does have the best explosion animations IMO. \

I miss the prefixed AI, but no one liked The Joust or w/e they labeled it as- yet they (complainers) all had non-RE'd engines under 70 speed since it was only week 2 or 3..

I love space myself. To me ground combat is so boring, attack and walk away and come back and loot or harvest. Now i know you cant do this for everything but still no challenge. To me space combat is challengeing because i have to work at it. I have triedrebel,Imp, freelance and I like them all. I just wish something like this could be done on the ground. Now i have to say also everyone is right once you hit master there is no content, but i dont care i just like to blow things up. I have noticed that it was harder the first time around but once you get the hang of it. It can be easier the 2nd or 3rd time because you have gotten the equipment already and you have learned how to use the programs. LOL heck i didnt know i could use lvl 3 programs at lvl 1 until the other day dang lol makes a big difference.

Still i have to say i love to blow things up on my own and ........ heck lol i just like to blow things up loli just wish i coulds make money at like i did when it came out. STUPID NERF lol

I cant get enough of JTL, unfortunatly theres not much of it to begin with. Faction points, parts loot, the credit chip i get in my inventory, the thrill of watching my enemy turn to a ball of plasma woo hoo. My best friend and partner in crime however HATES it he says he get space sick and that each kill is the same. I keep telling him hang in there you'll like it once you dont suck at it. He jsut shakes his head and goes about his buisness grinding for jedi.

LOL.

I stopped buying those years ago, the content in these games changes to much.

The content in the Prima guide does change, but that doesn't mean that every page of it is worthless. Some of the information that doesn't change, or at least doesn't change much, is handy to have at your fingertips. Especially if you're just sitting around the house.

From reading the guides, I've seen that the devs have always planned to have factional bombardments and that space mining appears to be something they want to implement. I may have missed it, but I never saw that on the boards.

What is this assinine, juvenile superiority complex with people who think they're so clever for not buying the Prima guide? Was 20 bucks too much money for you?

Your getting bent out of shape over a comment i made about prima guides? Isn't that a little assinine and juvinile in itself?

Way i see it, why buy one when most of the information (which is often more up to date) is free on the internet if you know where to look? Its not a superority complex like you assume it is, its being realistic and practicle. If you want to buy one , thats your progative, but i dont see much use in them. So if you want to get bent out of shape because of my opinion.. thats your progative too, and is not my problem.

Hmmm. This is a loaded question for me since I am a major old school gamer. In general, I would have to say that JTL is nice diversion but it seriously lacks the substance and detail that the ground game has. I can see the games from the past that the Devs used for inspiration when designing JTL. Far, far back before even X-wing Alliance, back in the days of DOS was a game that the Devs really drew a lot of ideas off of for JTL. This game, (which is well known and respected by ALL game gurus) is called Privateer.
Even as I play Privateer today (yes, I do have my own dedicated system with DOS loaded and fully functional) I still see Privateer as having a more robust and engaging experience then JTL. Sure JTL has nice eye candy that looks great but pretty graphics can only go so far and then the next question is, "Whats, next?" Several posters in this thread have hit on a number of specific improvments which really need consideration by the Devs for implementation hopefully sometime in the near future depending on how the upcoming ground game revamps go. Ironically some of these ideas suggested for JTL in this thread were already used in Privateer when it came out many years ago.

ahh

privateer...yes sweet memories.

Actually, yours wasn't the only comment, so it wasn't entirely aimed at you. But I'm sorry, I don't see why people feel compelled to look down on someone for buying a Prima guide. It just seemspetty. Of course, I use alahkazam, swgcraft, stratics and other sites to find up-to-date information that is often lacking in the Prima guide. But yes, I've got a Prima guide. So what? If that's a waste of money in your opinion, why not keep it to yourself? It's not your money and it hardly has anything to do with the substance of the original thread.

I spend most of my time in space but I tend to agree with the comments about lack of content and a feeling of repetition.

What do I do out there? Lately, I've been overt and farming alot of faction for the GCW. As a roleplayer, though, every Tuesday Night is Stag Night for my crew of players and we take The Ikopi Stag, a YT, out for some roleplayed adventures. Sometimes it's routine missions and small talk. Sometimes folks work us into a bigger story arc (we have some RP coordinators on Starsider among the players). When I'm not in the YT I'm out in the Krayt gathering credits, salvage and faction. I really love the 2-seater so that I can sometimes bring a friend along and RP a bitor just use it to transport myself and a friend between worlds. It's a fine singleseater as well. I've also been involved with Alliance Fighter Command (Gwreng, Luucas, Cody and Joken are the folks I deal with mostly) and attended some IC briefings and battles which were often alot of fun.

Ground combat, until the GCW update, was overwhelmingly the province of PvP powergamers with way too much free time to grind. Now I'm starting to enjoy it a bit more but the feel of Star Wars comes through, and probably will even after CURB, in space a great deal more than in ground combat. It's dangerous and exciting with little or no trashtalking and taunting. Opponents /salute each other out there, as it should be when combat is skill based rather than grind based.

Oh yea, Privateerit is the MOST awesome space game ever. It wrote the book on space combat games and in my opinion therehas still not been another game released like it. Unfortunately I have a feeling that these young "whippersnappers" just don't know what they are missing.
