Not all forward facing gun models are offcenter. I have a set which are perfectly placed. However due to wide gun placement and no weapon convergence ... smaller ships can be a pain to hit.

The turrets on the Arc-170 have about 270 rotation and 90 inclination. a definite improvement on the Tie Aggressor. However the Arc-170 is so fast and manoverable that it feels like it should be flown as a fighter, while turrets need you to fly as a gunship/cruiser. It feels at first like it's role in space combat is confused.

It does however have a place in combat, for example, strafing runs. Flying at a target and unloading your forward weapon and banking off to give it a clear rear view while your turrets shoot during your escape. The manoverability not being used until shields are close to faltering, at which point it can dodge extremely well and escape ready for another pass.

I have a Jeeday Stafighter (ETA-2 Actis Interceptor for you :smileytongue, and I am overly impressed wih it. It seems to have less speed than a TIE Interceptor, but much more maneuverable, and of course, it has two guns.
