It's a bug in the new Asteroid code. They limited the number of Asteroid Chunks that a player can have broken off at one time. Usually my limit is 2, it seems.

Now, once they are broken into smaller chunks, or have run out of time and de-instanced, you can break off more. This is the intended change.

Unintended consequence of this is that sometime your allowed chunks stay used up, either because you've got a chunk flying around somewhere far away, or because the code doesn't account properly for the Asteroid Chunks (I think the latter).

This has the wonderful additional effect of making asteroid mining a complete slow pain in the neck, best done with a faster ship with multiple weapon slots.

You shouldn't go to another asteroid, and leave the dead one for others. /examine a rock and you will see its hit points. If it stops producing keep shooting it until it blows up. A new rock will spawn and you can begin mining again, but if you tap out a rock, it's bad form to leave it for someone else to finish off. Here's hoping they implement the same code they use on lairs, and when a rock is mined out you do 3x damage to it so it blows up quick, but until then, take the time and clean up your space trash.

asteroid mining... what can i say about this feature... bound to be used by about 3 people per server about 5 weeks from now... or less.

My thought is... try finding something that makes you money and buying the resources you want from the 3 people who are crazy enough to mine this stuff.

hit /examine when you have the asteroid targeted if it's hit points are low (1400/5000) you won't get any more chunks til you blow up the existing asteroid and a new one spawns(will spawn in same spot).

Ladies and gentlemen of the supposed jury, Chef's attorney would certainly want you to believe that his client wrote "Stinky Britches" ten years ago. And they make a good case. Hell, I almost felt pity myself!

But ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, I have one final thing I want you to consider: Ladies and gentlemen this [pointing to a picture of Chewbacca] is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now, think about that. THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! (Background: Damnit! What? He's using the Chewbacca defense!) Why would a Wookiee—an eight foot tall Wookiee—want to live on Endor with a bunch of two foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense!

But more important, you have to ask yourself, what does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense!

Look at me, I'm a lawyer defending a major record company, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca. Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense. None of this makes sense!

And so you have to remember, when you're in that jury room deliberating and conjugating the Emancipation Proclamation... does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed jury, it does not make sense.

If Chewbacca lived on Endor, you must acquit! The defense rests.
