Why has no-one mentioned the heavy scyke? I find them quite a bugger to hit in PvP. 600/600/300 p/y/r accelleration.
Interesting point... what's the mass on those beasts?

Well one of the styles of the Kihraxz looks better than the vaksai. Other than that, not much.

It'd be great for those of us afflicted with the Kashhyk Station/emya bug!

Pretty good 2 light fighter and a med fighter...
Privateer is fine really...
Not really, they only hold about 90k mass at best. A Jedi starfighter holds about 95k mass and an A-wing holds a lot more than that. All rebel ships are highest in mass. IE, a Y-Wing "longprobe" holds about 200k mass. A kimogila holds about 110k mass. A TIE/In hold about 80k (not sure as for the TIE). Those are all the same tier and yet rebel ships hold more. This is true for all levels. An X-Wing holds a lot and is very manuverable. So really the people who get let down are the Imps...go figure. Rebels pretty much got it best.
Than there's the ARC170 or the KSE, but I'm not sure if KSE's are aloud in PvP. Even if they are, they cost a pretty penny.
I like a lot of room to put stuff and have less limitations, I guess that's why I don't like ships with little mass.
My search for rampant forum idiocy has lead me here with a bright, pulsing beacon. THe Jedi starfighter is 90k mass, not 95k. The A-Wing has MUCH more than that? Try 65k. Never seen a Longprobe with anywhere near 200k mass. Try 170-180 with excellent materials.
I'm sick of this whole Rebels have the best ships, Imps have the worst mentality that's been running around the forums since JTL launched. The Longprobe and the B-Wing have incredible amounts of mass, and most TIEs are in the 60k and under range, but mass means absolutely zilch. The Longprobe and B-Wing are horrendous ships to use against fighter waves (which comprises most of the space content), unless you're very skilled with them and have a lot of stick time. That leaves the A-Wing and X-Wing as the pure fighters on the Rebel side.
Since we're speaking purely in terms of non-ROTW ships here, the A-Wing is comparable to TIEs in mass and firepower and maneuverability. The X-Wing is about 35k heavier than the A-Wing, a larger target, and has two more gun slots. Yeah, more firepower, but the tradeoff is the size. The X-Wing is comparable to privateer ships.
TIEs overall are exceptional ships. Both the TIE Advanced and the TIE Interceptor are among the best PvE/ PvP ships in the game. The TIE Bomber and TIE Oppressor are equally as effective as bombers against gunboats and NPC POB ships as the Longprobe and B-Wing. The Oppressor alone is very deadly in PvP as a missile platform, as the only fighter-scale ship with three missile launchers. TIEs are also, both in PvP and PvE, generally very hard to hit because of their size, speed, and maneuverability.
I have flown all three factions and have a lot of stick time in numerous ships. The Rebels certainly don't have the best ships, and you can't even get your complaint about them right (the a-wing has MUCH more mass than the Actis and all the TIEs... give me a friggin break).
I'll make you a deal. PM me with the ship you think is the absolute best, and the ship you think is the absolute worst. We'll make pilots on a neutral server. I'll fly the worst ship, you fly the best. We'll do the same missions, each solo. Then we'll go head to head in Deep Space.
The JTL ships for the most part are very well balanced. And if you think mass is everything, go ahead and try a B-Wing. It's the heaviest fighter in the game. Once you've added parts up to the first weapon and run out of mass for the rest, give me a call and tell me again how all that mass means jack doodly. I'll be zipping around in a 65k A-Wing or TIE Advanced blowing the living h3ll out of everything in space.
BTW, why wouldn't the KSE be "aloud" in PvP? It makes just as much noise as the other ships. Unless, of course, you mean "allowed," in which case I still don't understand what you mean. See, since most of these ships are very well balanced, the KSE has roughly the firepower of a Longprobe with a little more mass and speed, but sluggish handling a VERY large profile. It's all a tradeoff.
