Hey , im master rebel pilot and never done space mine b4 , i have the minining laser and large cargo hold and i use laser on asteroid and chunks come off , how do i receive the material because i dont no how to get it . lol

when the chunks break off the main asteroid, shoot them and they break down further, now shoot these multiple smaller chunks and they should then be in your cargo hold, all with a mining laser of course

This may have been answered ( iam sure it has, just didnt find it) if so could you post a link. Q. Can you mine with regular ships and if so I assume they have to be equipped with mining lasers? Which leads to Q2. Where can i find mining lasers, obviously a component vendor but never see any for sale on my server?

You are correct. You need mining lasers and tractor beams... You also need a cargo hold.
I am not a space miner- so I am of little help. Go to the Pilot profession section for more help.

Starting Flash Harrison's quest on Kash will help you to get a mining laser (class I though), a cargo hold and a tractor beam very quickly.
For advanced version of these, you need to ask a shipwright, which need asteroid resources, so best bet is to ask / check the shipwright forum for how much is needed and bring them to your local shipwright.

most shipwrites can make cargo holds and mining lasers, the thing is those components require some resources mined from space. so start the quest and get alittle mining done and have a shipwrite make them for you

I have a cargo hold already so a 1/3 of the way there. I bought it thinking maybe all those merchant ships loaded with stuff if you disabled them and boarded you could their cargo since it says items transferred. Oh well would be nice for smugglers.

I have mined quite a bit using my Heavy X. you will want mining lasers and a cargo hold. teh problem is, that in order to build mining lasers and a cargo hold, you need resources that have been mined in space. therefor, they are very expensive.

Oh if you want to mine faster you have to listen to the "lumberjack" song from one the the Monty Python skits...just replace lumberjack with spaceminer.
