I'm both a newbie, and a casual player. I like the shifting resources. Why?
Because they give *me* a chance to "compete" with the "big boys". That's right. If resources did not shift, then all the "good spots" would indeed be overrun by "big boys" harvestors (exactly what you think would not happen).
As it is, I can go out and survey and find a nice spot and be the first there.
Example: I own one fusion reactor, to provide power for my 8 medium BER10 harvestors. Just the other day I found a +78% radiation spot - and NOBODY had any harvestors of any kind there. I placed my fusion on the center. Next day, there were five more fusions around mine. Next day (yesterday), there were over 20! I was the first to find this particular spot, and my fusion sits in the "sweet spot" in the center. I like that I can do that, and not just "get the dregs" on the edges of "established" fields.
Cheers,

I love the fact that resources change. It makes it so much more fun. I am not a power gammer, but by using my 10 lots I get more than I need to grind Weaponsmith and sell. It is not as bad as you might think, just means you have to check once in a while. Besides once you start mining you learn to anticipate the next shift. For a while it shifted on my server the first couple days of the week. Now it is changing again adds to the fun.
It is alot better than other games. Ultima Online never changed resources, was no fun when everyone new exactly where that sweet spot of valorite was. SWG at least gives everyone a chance to find that sweet spot and keep it to themselves.

I totally agree with Sepen. If there was no resource shift, then the "100+ harvestor power gamers" would camp every good resource location and us casual gamers wouldn't get a chance to get some good resources. I'd like to keep resource shiftingand have some kind of remote control device (harvestor PDA)that would give us the status of our harvestors at any time or place.

check SWGcraft.com and see what has popped on your server and how long ago. then you can start either asking local mineral guys for it, or wait for it to spawn again

2 things.
1. Since you didn't tell us what server you're on, we can't possibly make any sort of deal with you.
2.You'd get off a lot cheaper by checking SWGCraft.com for resource spawns and mining it up yourself.

Mining is already problematic at best. They started giving us options with the new tractor beam options in the keymapping. But with so much garbage at long range appearing, I'd like more targetting options. A selectable hotkey for mining lasers (so I don't have to keep enabling and disabling blasters), and a target for 'nearest asteroid/chunk'. And please, a toggle for long range target boxes. There's no way I should be able to see targets 14K away.
Thx
PS: heh while I'm here, redesign on the Y8? ability to redeed RoTW ships? kay, I'll shut up now.

And the carbonaceous asteroids are right up against the limits of space so when chunks fly off the often go to the edge where I can't seem to fire on them.

I appear to have 'lost' my mining laser and cargo hold.
I was doing the missions started by Flash on Kashyyyk. Can I buy these, and where from and how do I know what level I can use. I *think* it was a level 2 mining laser and a 1000 capacity cargo hold I got up to but is there a simple way to verify this?
Thanks

Any Shipwright can build Mininglasers and Cargoholds, and to find out what level of equipment you are certified for take a look at your Skills page (Ctrl+S)
The crafted parts will be better than the quest parts, but might be expensive ... I would recomend talking to your local ShipWright.
