Thread: Imperials disadvantaged again?
Personally i think the Y-8 shouldn't be a master ship. maybe teir2 or 3. you need about 3or4 crew memebers to use fully. The Jedi fighter yes i like it as it handles like a TIE - TIE/in small and fast. but think that the quests for the Jedi Fighter and ARC should be avaiable to ANY faction not just one. (i understand why the Jedi is IMP only as it was desgined by the same ppl who make the TIE fighter - plus its Darth Vader old ship, he tells you that as he gives it to you)
And yes i feel the Imperail playeris Disadvantaged too.I would be happy to give back on or two of the Missile slots on the Advanced/Aggressor/Oppressor and have 1 Extra laser slot. i mean have the Devs or anyone at SOE played any of the Lucasarts X-wing TIE fighter games. the Interceptor and Advanced both have 4 weapons plus the missiles and CM.
I've had no problem with using the Tractor beam in the Y-8 or a fighter, you just have to equip it to the correct weapon slot. IMO the Y-8 should have the 2 mining lasers and tractor beam controled from the Pilot and the two turrets as either Mining lasers or cannon. but i agree i sucks that we cant have 1 mining 1 tractor beam and 1 laser cannon equiped.
EDIT: meant to say that if you use the tractor beam to get the space ore you can get 2 or 3x the amount you would with your mining laser

Ok...I'm out space mining today, when it suddenly hit me. Imps are the only faction which don't get a three-gunned ship. At all. Ever.
Both rebels and freelance get ships with three gun slots...one for your mining cannon, one for the tractor beam and one for a gun to use to defend yourself. The rebs get the Xwing and the freelance pilots get the Rihx, not to mention the krayt.
Imps get neither. In fact, the only ship we can use is the ARC-170 mining ship, which I see being more a pain in the rump than useful, at least while the crew learn how to work as a team.
First we get d%*ked on mass, then we get the toughest missions of the 3 factions...now we can't mine as effectively as the rebs/freelance?
Normally...this wouldn't bother me to much. If it followed SW canon, but it doesn't. The Empire is meant to be an almighty force...technicaly and numerically superior to any other force in existance at the time. Yet the rebs and freelance factions are more capable than we are? Freelance I can understand, to a degree...the millenium falcon is a good example. But the rebels? If the movies are anything to go by (and purists say that that is the true and only reliable source of information), the rebels are a ragtag band of hopefuls who are only managing to scrape together enough resources for the next mission, who are always on the run.
Is it possible to push for a three-gunned TIE variant? I certainly hope so.

see thats the point where you go wrong. the empire according to the stories does not supply their pilots with good equipment, they win through quantity not quality. in fact they give them some of the worst ships made, they are cheap, fast, lightly armed and armored. this is because the imperial navy has no concern for the lives of its pilots who are all, to the last man, 100% expendable.
you should actually be thankfull they the devs allow TIE fighters to acutally have shields as they aren't supposed to have them. Also, most TIEs don't have hyperdrives either as they are supposed to be launched from larger ships.
I truly believe that as well. Just the feeling you get sitting in a tie fighter does not seem to give that well built feeling.
An x-wing looks like a ship of far more substance and worth than a TIE fighter anyday.
Original Imp Star (not the ImpStarDuece)
9,700 troops
60 turbolasers
40 point laser cannons
60 ion cannons
10 tractor beams
CREW 37,085 max
could hold about 600 Ties max. Most had 3-4 Wings (36 Ties per wing).

Ya well to your line of thinking. The entier rebellion hould be out on Hoth hiding, IN fear of there lives. Not running around almost every major starport.
